@wolfweed – thnx for all the news.
The ebay auction for the chance to have a day at the DW studios while they’re filming is (almost embarrassingly) miles in front. The next nearest is a rugby weekend (£1200). Go Doctor Who 🙂
Love the Marshalls
They’re not seriously thinking of cancelling the Unearthly Child broadcasts are they? (I was just getting my excitement levels warmed up for them). Bandwagon jumping/cashing in certainly comes to mind. It’s one thing when it’s the original creator/scriptwriter challenging cos they think they got a raw deal – I don’t have a lot of sympathy when it’s the family. And it’s 50 years later.
11 November 2013 at 04:31 #20512@wolfweed how exactly is Mr. Coburn entitled to anything. The exterior design of the tardis is in the public domain, the interior design was created by the production department at the BBC and the concept had already been created before the episode was written. I guess his father could have come up with the name tardis, but he’s making it sound like the whole thing was his idea, which it so clearly wasn’t.
11 November 2013 at 04:56 #20513There is one things which is clear about Anthony Coburn from that article, he fathered a pratt.
Thanks for all the great images and links @wolfweed. It has taken me half the day to catch up with everything. (I still have at least a page of posts to read).
The Guardian are really fueling the excitement now with lots of fun articles. It seems we are going to given at least one Who related story a day now. Something to liven up the Breakky coffee.
Cheers
Janette

Fell off the sofa at that. Comment of the morning 😀
11 November 2013 at 13:15 #20529Anonymous @Absolute. Knob.
The fact these two words form a post that comes immediately after a number discussing Steff Coburn is entirely coincidental…

11 November 2013 at 22:33 #20549Anonymous @Further on the Coburn / Tardis copyright news:
What if Doctor Who has to ditch the Tardis?
The Guardian’s ideas:
A big red bus
A budget hotel bedroom
A friendly payday loan shop
An ‘iconic’ skyscraper
A Ukip rallyNo no no no no no no. 😆 (I love that clip, featured in Russell Howard’s show)
We can do better than those suggestions, surely? 🙂
12 November 2013 at 00:16 #20550I think you Mr Coburn has no concept of the world of hurt that will come down on him if he gets on the wrong side of the Who fan base.

12 November 2013 at 18:10 #20576Lovely interview with Moffat just posted on the BBC site. An Evening with Steven Moffat – giving a wee rundown of all the Doctors in turn, with clips.
Aw
12 November 2013 at 19:02 #20579Anonymous @@scaryb – thanks for posting that interview! Almost too many things to comment on, but I loved these 2 bits the most:
1. Colin Baker was the only Doctor not to be in ‘his’ clip at all – it was all the special space effects from the beginning of Trial of a TimeLord. And neither interviewer nor Moffat mentioned him at all. haw haw haw!
2. Moffat’s description of Matt Smith: “You’re a young man assembled by old men from memory.” That is so right, somehow.
12 November 2013 at 20:48 #20586@scaryb, great video, I don’t normally have time to watch these links but fortunately I’m stuck waiting in a McDonald’s!
One thing that popped into my head was how televisions are just like the TARDIS, bigger on the inside
13 November 2013 at 00:48 #20627Thanks for the link, @scaryb
If I was an Intelligence Agency, I’d spy on Moffat & RTD’s conversations (and watch Pyramids of Mars too!)

http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/doctor-who-50th-anniversary-2013-1oz-silver-proof-coin.aspx
As Silver is around $20 an ounce, that’s quite some markup. It is very tempting though…
13 November 2013 at 02:01 #2063213 November 2013 at 02:19 #20633Thanks for the link @scaryb. Really enjoyed the interview though I could not help but wonder if there was any significance to the selection of clips, Troughton Dr talking about his family, T.B. about to destry the Daleks, and Vincent and the paintings.. Maybe I am reading too much into too little. I had better go and watch Pyramids of Mars instead. 😉
It was interesting that Colin Baker wasn’t even mentioned. A very definite slight. Clearly Moffat felt that as he could not say anything positive it was better to say nothing at all. Agree with @Shazzbot re’ the comment about Matt. “A young man assembled by old men.” It does describe him perfectly.
@wolfweed. I want to go to New Zealand…
Cheers

14 November 2013 at 20:11 #20711Anonymous @New profile of / interview with David Tennant in the Guardian:
Tennant set his heart on playing the Doctor aged just three, after watching Jon Pertwee, the third doctor, regenerate into the fourth, Tom Baker. His affection for the show was encapsulated in a school essay he wrote, aged 14, entitled Intergalactic Overdose.
