Awww love this trailer, looking forward for the fashion adapted in it.
For anyone worried about the younger set of Who fans – this interview with Nick Frost has been released.
In which he talks about working with the real Father Christmas. 🙂
“We did a ride-along…” Â Ha!
@Bluesqueakpip thanks for the link. Lovely snippet from Nick Frost. I do wish however that his depiction of the big fella’ resembled the Rovaniemi version more than the Coke one. (Took the Santa Express to Rovaniemi with the boys many years ago. Happy memories.)
I enjoyed some of the other videos on the page which I hadn’t seen before. Watching the Samuel Anderson one reinforced my suspicions that we have not yet seen the last of him. (fingers crossed anyway) I am certain he will return as his more amiable alter ego, Orson. It is more than time he joined “Team Tardis”.
Cheers

@JanetteB
I will now make a prediction (as opposed to a bonkers theory):
Not only will Samuel Anderson reappear, but everybody who we thought died will reappear. In spite of what has been said about the need for deaths to be “real” in order to count, I think Moffat will bring them all back.
It won’t be sleight of hand, but…love will save the day.
I second @blenkinsopthebrave. Too much left hanging, to the extent that I predict this much has been scene setting. I don’t think they are winging it here. I think there is a plan.
Love saves all… The hard way. I think we are all going to earn this. I particularly expect to see Samuel Anderson, Zawe Ashton and … most tenuous, Michael Smiley.
Oh, I hope so….
New trailer!
Argh – guess embedding doesn’t work. 🙂

One item seems to be feeding into the theory that Clara’s ‘three months’ post-it meant ‘three months to live’.
Mind you, if you’ve got access to all of time and space, surely you’d ask the Doctor about medical facilities in the future? 😉
@Bluesqueakpip – Sure looks that way. Â And on the “Listen” blackboard, no less.
Of course, if you’ve just lost your boyfriend in a horrific manner, and had a passive-aggressive falling out with your friend the time traveler, maybe you’re more content to let nature run its course?
Based on what I’ve read of the latest trailer, it appears that this is happening six months after Clara last saw the Doctor. So that changes my perception of the “three months” Post-It note. I wonder if that meant Clara had three months till whatever condition she has would begin to manifest itself. Until that time, she would look and feel healthy. Even though it goes against the grain of the tone for this season, I don’t mind admitting I would like it to end on an “Everybody lives!” note.
@DrBen
Yes, it was strongly suggested in Death in Heaven that she was suicidal.
Hmmm… perhaps she was going to tell the Doctor. Until Danny died.
And maybe the fact that she was going to have to tell the Doctor and get treatment in a future time period was the reason she finally had to face up to telling Danny the truth? Miraculous recoveries can be a bit tricky to explain to your boyfriend. 😉
[Or it could be one of those evil countdown things and nothing to do with ‘three months’ at all. Weeping Angels, Missy – it’s not enough to just kill people any more, for real evil you have to tell them in advance.]
Interesting thought that she was suicidal. Do you mean before the Doctor came back, confronted her betrayal and took her to the mausoleum to save Danny? Or after? If so, then why did she pretend to be the Doctor with the Cybermen? That was an obvious attempt to preserve her life. But maybe she wanted to live just long enough to join Danny in the Nethersphere?

Liking the red nose ‘car’ alarm – I once saw a car with antlers on the headlights draped in timsel
and a big red pom pom thingy in between. It was parked in a “candy cane lane” street display and
this preview reminded me of all of that. I really like that aspect of this holiday. We all look
for the kid inside again for a few days
@Bluesqueakpip I had not thought about it until reading your comment but the title Last Christmas might well refer to this being Clara’s last Christmas.
@DrBen and @Lisa thanks both for the links. I love that red nose remote control too.
Cheers

@JanetteB
I think ‘Last Christmas’ may turn out to be a title on several levels. The Last Christmas ever? Clara’s Last Christmas? The Last Christmas where Clara and the Doctor are together?
And then there’s [Warning! Don’t watch if you have a serious Wham! allergy]:

@bluesqueakpip, not sure I can think of a tie in with Wham, but I’m willing to be surprised still with the ‘it’s 2016’ theory, could we get a years (give or take) reset? Kind of hope not…
Well there are no indications I’m going to get it, but as it’s pantomime season I have a powerful need for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor in drag. He plays a transgender performer in Prime Suspect doing a cabaret number as Marilyn Monroe beautifully…

Just thought about the title again…”Last Christmas”. What if you interpret it as the previous Christmas? I still suspect something will be made of the reference (in In the Forest of the Night) implying that events have been taking place in 2016.
We shall see in a couple of days. Well, you will see, anyway, while Mrs Blenkinsop and I (stuck in the Who-less wilds of Ontario) wait for the DVD and attempt to avoid the internet until then for fear of spoilers.
@BlenkinsopTheBrave
For some reason I keep thinking of that bloody Wham song…
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart.
But the very next day, you gave it away.
I hope Ontario has a wine cellar. It’s looking suspiciously like I’ll be TV-less over Christmas; here’s hoping the broadband (and therefore, iPlayer) holds up.
Not sure now when we will be watching the Special either. We might even have to reconnect the TV to the ariel in order to watch it this year and it looks as though we will be watching it on Boxing Day after all as we could not get into a 3d screening of the Hobbit until the day after so the jelly babies were swapped with the maltesers under the tree.
Was talking to some people the other day who are not fans but like the look of the trailer so much they are considering watching it this Christmas. Naturally we urged them to do so. The trailer does look very appealing I must say.
Cheers
Janette
There are lots of possibilities for “last” but @Bluesqueakpip you just had to focus on the Wham one!!! (Earworms, grr… Hmm, I think I need a memory worm now!)
@DrBen thanks for the trailer link. it does look good. I thought the 3 months post-it note was a meta ref to 3 months of travelling with the Doctor ie Doctor-time , as in the length of the series. But it’s an interesting thought that if Clara knew she had something terminal that she would squeeze as much timetravelling into her last 3 months as possible. And not tell anyone.  I think the blackboard is probably a classic misdirect by trailer though.
I’m hoping to go back to some of the events / themes of Listen, not least Orson 😉
OK, are you folks across the pond getting the same wondrous journey through Doctor Who that we are in Canada? The Space Channel is having a Doctor Who marathon leading up to tomorrow night’s Christmas special. Wonderful! But silly really … as all the episodes are on Netflix. We could easily access each and every one, without commercials. So why are hubby and I watching the marathon with such joy and anticipation? Dunno. It’s fun!
