As the old Spoilers thread was nearing it’s maximum allowed posts, this is a new Spoilers thread for, erm Spoilers. If you wish to share any Doctor Who related rumours or ‘unofficial’ (ie not released by the BBC) please post them here.
When @ mentioning other members, please bear in mind that not everyone is interested in spoilers so take care who you mention. Perhaps the best way to avoid inadvertently mentioning someone is to check back through the thread. If a particular member has never posted then assume they do not want to receive messages notifying them that “Peter Capaldi has quit after one season and been replaced by Justin Bieber.” 🙂
13 February 2014 at 14:11 #25265Justin Bieber eh ? That will be a welcome change….
Cheers
Nick
Nothing like starting a rumour to perk things up eh ?
13 February 2014 at 14:16 #25266Anonymous @
Hee Hee, @nick. I was just thinking that as it’s being quiet lately, we should start a new ‘Omni-rumour’ to replace the ‘missing believed wiped believed found again but they might not have been unless Phillip Morris is hoarding them’ one 😀
17 February 2014 at 17:42 #25388Apparently Capaldi’s Doctor will face the Daleks in his first season. Lets hope they make the Daleks seem more impressive again, the way the series has been using them recently is not the best. Its said Capaldi really likes the Daleks, so I’m guessing he’s quite happy he will be in an episode with them sooner rather than later.

@wolfweed – Spacesuit from The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit and a restaurant called Terra Nova (means new ground but could also mean New Earth). That’s two references to season 2 episodes. What could it all mean???

Thanks for that, the Wales Online article made me chuckle although I’m sure they were serious 🙂
the 40-year-old has grown himself a sinister beard that’s a dead ringer for the type sported by the Master in his previous classic incarnations throughout the ’70s and ’80s.
Or anyone else with a beard for that matter – I have one. OMG, he’s playing me! (or maybe I’m the next Master 😉 ). Actually, my first thought was how much he reminds me of Peter Sutcliffe (youngsters, ask your parents) 😮
the snap appears to show the actor standing by a craggy seaside outcrop…
Appears to show? I’d say it definitely shows !
…that suspiciously resembles the windswept South Wales coastline
Or the craggy, windswept coastline of just about anywhere on the planet.
‘Straws’, ‘at’ and ‘clutching’ are words that spring to mind.
Mind you, there’s nowhere else for former soapstars to go but Doctor Who now that The Bill’s finished, isn’t that right Jenna/Samuel ? 😉
Richard Armitage, on the other hand, would be an excellent choice or, as one of the BTLers said, Hugh Laurie.
11 March 2014 at 04:26 #26329@fatmaninabox. Yes. Richard Armitage would be brilliant as the master. Sadly he is probably too “expensive” now having done his stint as a dwarf. Not so sure about Hugh Laurie.
Cheers

Probably not a spoiler at all but my lawyers insisted on me posting it here…
@fatmaninabox – My own beard has snuck off today for a very secretive audition.
It’s for something called ‘Men Waster’ (or was it ‘No. 8 Ream St’?).
Needless to say, I have my suspicions…
12 March 2014 at 13:11 #2635712 March 2014 at 13:47 #26358Thanks for this and all the other posts, drawn from your scouring of the web to keep us informed. I see you as the Edward Snowden of Doctor Who (I suppose that makes the BBC suits the NSA).
As for the rumour above, I suppose it makes sense in a Moriarty sort of way, but would Moffat really repeat that trick? I suspect not.

So the big question is; is this a “new” villain or a “new-old villain? – My teenage son has just been grumbling about the lack of surprises in Dr Who.
I was thinking the same about the lack of surprises but it struck me this morning that maybe it’s been announced that Ms Delphox has a ‘dar secret’ in order to mislead us into thinking the obvious while the real villain of the series is quietly snuck in under our noses.
I hope this is the case a it would be nice, just for once, to not know which old foes of The Doctor are returning.
Starting off the bonkers theories, I wonder if the ‘Del’ in ‘Delphox’ has anything to do with DELSA.
The only other thing I can come up with is that Delph is derived from the Old English word ‘delf’ meaning quarry – a location with strong links to Doctor Who history 😉 An ox is a castrated bull. Not sure how that fits with Who history though 🙂
15 March 2014 at 10:50 #26415Doctor Who: How to be a Time Lord – The Official Guide
This Official Doctor Who Guide is essential reading for all wannabe Time Lords. Written as a gift from the Eleventh Doctor to the newly-regenerated Twelfth, it contains everything you need to know to be just like him.
So if you’ve ever wondered if you’d make the grade in the Time Lord Academy, or how to fly the TARDIS, or the correct way to dip your fish finger in custard, then this is the book for you!————————————————————————————————————-
Ms Delphox, a powerful out-of-this-world character with a dark secret and will face Capaldi and Coleman when they arrive on a strange and puzzling planet. She achieves the greatest villainy yet attempted on Doctor Who: she plays a banker…

What’s going on here then? Tegan returning to the Whoniverse perhaps? Probably not but why let that spoil a good rumour 🙂
18 March 2014 at 06:49 #26487I hope she’s just visiting the set, Tegan’s one of my least favourite companions.
18 March 2014 at 12:11 #26492Just as long as she has lost that cringeworthy accent.. (which she was taught as they did not consider her natural Aussie accent was Aussie enough.)
Cheers

Curious about this ring business. Am toying with the theory that Capaldi might actually be both the Doctor and the Master in the upcoming series. (Hence both the black and white shirts maybe?)
Which could be cool. But my dream Master is still Dylan Moran.
19 March 2014 at 19:06 #26511@thekrynoidman – I doubt Mr Moffat would be too impressed if that appeared on the internet to give away a return of any kind. I’m hoping – Tegan’s not a favourite of mine at all – that it was just a set visit for an old friend of the Dotor Who family.
@fatmaninabox – Loving the new monster. It wouldn’t look out of place in the Doctor Who of my mid-1970s childhood, and to my mind that can never be a bad thing 🙂
@wolfweed – great links, thank you! And much as I’d love to see Capaldi vs Capaldi as the series finale, @jimthefish, I’m too prosaic for the lovely theory – it looks much more like a convenient way of covering the Doctor’s change in marital status to me!

I have to sadly admit that I did not know you posted this theory before I did over on the wishlist page.

ah, great minds, @brewski….
I’m kind of hoping it turns out to be correct and that s8 is also littered with Master red-herrings to keep us all guessing….

Also, today’s DWM Moff hints at next series (finale perhaps?), in an answer to why the TARDIS didn’t/doesn’t like Clara…
‘…Clever, sceptical, hard to impress Clara might just cause trouble. It’s almost like it’s all building to something… Oh! What’s this I’m writing today…?’
