I felt that when Ashildr was telling the Doctor about always being different
it struck a cord in him. As a very young Doctor he may have been approximately
the same age when he had those same feelings. Therefore when she died that might
of been in his mind and so hit him particularly hard. That might to be in part
why she was…[Read more]

He did care: he offered O’Donnell the chance to stay in the TARDIS. She refused. The way she reacted suggested she’d guessed that it was to keep her safe – so, she didn’t want to b…[Read more]

@221badwolf The Doctor seemed to recognise Ashildr in some way, maybe that’s why. Maybe it was, in a sense, ‘supposed’ to happen, perhaps part of some bigger loop we can’t see yet?

His reaction was rather Tenth Doctor ‘Waters of Mars’. ‘I can do whatever I want’. It’s not really a language after all. Don’t know about when it’s not translated for aliens, maybe there are limits to what it can translate?

221badwolf, correct we did see Clara’s time line in “Ring’s” but don’t under-estimate the power of the Moff when he writes lines like… “Why this one? But what is so important that I can’t just tell myself what I t…[Read more]

No. We go through Clara’s timeline from when she was a small baby.

There are no shots of a pregnant Ellie, and the first shot of baby Clara is not the famous and oft-written Hospital Scene, with Proud Mum In Bed Holding Baby. It’s of Dad holding Baby Clara in their house.

@Kharis Thank you! I didn’t notice that pattern either the first time through, only on rewatch when I wasn’t so busy looking for clues to things. What was fun for me about that macro-pattern is that it was entirely unrelated to any story or character arcs, but was just another way in which things hung together. As an entity, Series 8 was prob…[Read more]

about the idea and I can only come up with the fact that River said she was psychically
connected to Clara in the Name of the Doctor. Also River was born to kill the Doctor
and Clara was born to save the Doctor which might imply that CAL who was all about

@221badwolf Really, it was the one part of the episode I wasn’t big on. I don’t hate it but I find it a bit silly. Still, nothing to say that’s a bad thing, I just didn’t see that it added a lot of value. Maybe I will be proven wrong!
