Too kind.
I was sitting on a train at the time, on a four-hour journey, and the brain starts to wander after a while.
The communicator bearing the seal of Rassilon? Are you sure it’s not a portable CD player…?

Thanks so much for that! I never knew about the Trods. As I have said–probably far too often–I was there at the beginning. Wide-eyed and innocent in 1963, in front of the TV. But I never got into […]

OK, I have watched it a couple of more times, and here is my theory: “He wants to see you.” This is a reference to one of the most powerful entities in the cosmos–the Great Librarian” who wants to see the Doctor because the last time the Doctor was in the Galactic Library, he borrowed a Big Finish audio recording and has failed to return it. It…[Read more]

Actually, I felt that two separate people/entities were being referred to–and I think “he” is different from “that creature”. Just a feeling, anyway.

Well, I haven’t been reading spoilers which means I am totally mystified by the Prologue. “He wants to see you…” but “He” seems to be different from “that creature” – who is presumably the Master.
hmmm, no bonkers theories as yet…

Re: Things to watch — While you lucky people in the UK have already had the opportunity to see it, and I suppose it is on BBC iView if you haven’t, I have ordered in the DVD of the new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Partners in Crime” with David Wallaims and Jessica Raine:
I have always…[Read more]

I agree that it is highly unlikely (or indeed, even desirable) that River become a permanent companion. I love her, and she is brilliant, but she shines so brightly that to have her and the Doctor […]

I really did mean the congratulations. Mrs Blenkinsop and I will break open a bottle of champagne in celebration on the 19th–taking account of the time difference with Canada (which may involve having champagne at breakfast.) And why not?
Of course, none of this means that you are not famous…

what if the girl who was born to save the Doctor can only do it by dying to save the Doctor? Yes, she has died before (well sort of) but never really died…the way Danny died. What if she is the companion who (besides Adric) dies? But not just dies, but dies to both save the Doctor and to reconnect with Danny?
there would not be a d…[Read more]

The one thing I would add to the wise advice of @purofilion is that JB sells the complete 50th collector’ edition special, which includes everything, including “An Adventure in Time and Space” and the brilliant “Five-ish Doctors…”
Come to think of it, why haven’t I purchased a copy…?

When I was growing up Anzac biscuits were not sold in the shops, and nor should they be–the whole point of them was to come out of the oven and straight onto the table. The idea of commercialising and “packaging”them (ugh!) goes against the whole idea of the anzac. Come to think of it, I recall eating one purchased in a shop.…[Read more]
