If the Doctor’s death is a fixed point, then he was regenerating in The Impossible Astronaut. We see the regeneration light show.

The ‘regeneration’ is a light show created by the Tessalector so that it looks as if the real Doctor is really regenerating.

There’s a forum for The Impossible Astronaut – though we don’t really discuss the regeneration effect, because we were doing a retrospective rather than watching it for the first time.
