<p>I think it&#8217;s possible to overstate the religious symbolism in Who. Yes, RTD plays with it a lot but as has been said above, I think there&#8217;s an element of playfulness, of irony, about it. Plus it&#8217;s riffing on the McGann regeneration in the TV movie slightly.</p>
