    @oochillyo

    Hi Declan,

    Not much to add to the advice and support offered by the lovely people here (@ps1l0v3y0u, @juniperfish, @craig, and of course Grandma @winston ).

    However, it does seem like we are online at the same time quite alot, (Maybe even same time zone), so feel free to reach out if you need a chat, and I’ll try to respond in a…[Read more]

  • @winston you are most welcome I really am glad you enjoyed it. If you have any questions regarding concept , story, characters settings etc please let me know I am happy to answer anything 😊

  • @robertcaligari Just reading your comment (which I agree with btw), I just have trouble visualising ‘Whittaker had the acting chops to go dark if the script called for it’. I believe you, most people seem to share that opinion, just that I’ve only ever seen her as the Doctor so I can’t imagine her as ‘dark’. Reportedly she was advised not to watch…[Read more]

    @winston @janetteb

    VotD must be a top 3 Christmas special. Titanic, Poseidon, Aliens, Robots of Death, ‘Keel him!’…

    Love it

    I assume the Host represent parallel cyber evolution. They are really extraordinarily similar to the SVs, Vs & D’s that Taren Capel liked to inject with gigantic glowing red syringes. Or the Titanic was a time ship……[Read more]

    @winston   Yes, I found the bit where they all turned against the Doctor hard to watch.   The stewardess – who was initially suspicious of the Doctor – redeemed herself at the cost of her own life and – icing on the cake – nobody even knew her name.   And, IIRC, most of the passengers didn’t seem to have learned anything from the exper…[Read more]

  • @jimthefish. I just noticed this post. Great little sketch and as @winston says, just in time for a new profile pic.

    I like the costume too, simply but stylish, with a definite, Doctorish feel to it.

    Cheers

    Janette

  • @blenkinsopthebrave and @winston

    Greetings, fellow bonkerisers, and thanks for the kind words. And yes, it was just a quick sketch this time. Hopefully will have time for something else later. Hope you’re both as psyched for the specials as I am. (Tho must admit I’m also quite looking forward to the colourised Daleks….)

    @winston We are currently getting our David Tennant “fix” watching Ashoka. He is excellent as the robot and though it is only the voice the robot is so like him.

    We had a husky and she grew the lovely thick coat in winter and shed it all in spring, and then oddly again in autumn, usually just before it got cold. the place looked like it was hit…[Read more]

    Hello @winston. Great to hear from you. It’s been a while. The DVDs come out before Christmas! You should request multiple copies from the children for the Christmas tree!

    They will certainly be under the Blenkinsop Christmas tree!

  • Dentarthurdent replied to the topic The Winchester

    @janetteb   Thanks.   We did enjoy our holiday.   That wasn’t Mrs D’s biggest drama – three days after the start of our holiday she drove her little hire car into a power pole, breaking it into three pieces.   Mrs D got away with a slight graze on her neck (seat belt) and a night in the hospital under observation.   The poor little car ended up…[Read more]

  • Hi @winston    I initially thought you were saying you’d watch just this one and the last one – in which case I was going to say, don’t bother with this, there are better eps.   But that’s not actually what you said.

    Just contemplating JW’s eps (and finding myself in the unusual position of actually recommending some of them!) I’d sugg…[Read more]

  • @winston Thanks for the thumbs-up. We just started watching the third season of Breeders … not realizing that the fourth season is also available. So we’ve got some catching up to do. After that, we may start with Annika. I think you’re right, and I will like it.

    (Post-tropical storm Lee was not as bad here as I’d feared. We had storm surge,…[Read more]

    @winston lol cute alien you obviously never saw the Dr Who magazine comic strip story Meep the Bleek comes from.I’m not going to potentially spoilerise the special but let’s just say all is not as it may appear if they are following the Star Beast story line.

  • Dentarthurdent replied to the topic The Zygon Inversion

    @winston  @janetteb    Yes, I’m more tolerant of anomalies if I like the characters or the story.   I’m much more likely to notice errors if I’m not just a little emotionally invested in the fate of the characters.   (And at worst I find myself nit-picking the plot as a sort of revenge on the bad writing/acting).   Kill the Moon was an exception…[Read more]

    @winston Our sons tell me that I am too forgiving of Dr Who too but sometimes it does go too far for me. Kill and Moon and the cyberking being probably the worst examples. Sci fi generally and fantasy create their own rules and as long as they vaguely stick to those that i fine. I tried writing a sci fi story recently and got caught up in the…[Read more]

    @winston    Well the parachuting from a jet didn’t bother me too much, it’s only a moderate improbability.    I can also gloss over the fact that Bonnie sees the Doctor’s plane on radar over Belgium and gets to the coast on her little bike in time to shoot it down.    (By contrast everything – and I mean every detail of the plot – in KTM was way…[Read more]

    @janetteb @winston   I also like the stories where ‘everyone lives’.   As long as it’s not too predictable.   For all the good characters, at least, I don’t much care about the villains.   (Except Missy.   Extraordinary writing by Moff and charisma by Michelle Gomez that could make everyone love a ruthless megalomaniac).

    Of course this always ra…[Read more]

    @winston   @janetteb    I’m afraid the problem is us, all of us.   Just too many damn humans.   We breed like lemmings, the only difference is, we ought to know better.   And lemmings can only devastate a small area, humans being much bigger and more powerful and cleverer can devastate the whole planet.

    The answer would be simple, if every coup…[Read more]

  • janetteB replied to the topic The Winchester

    @winston  I feel the same. It isn’t just about “us” humans, we are killing so many other innocent creatures and that simply isn’t fair. We don’t have the right to do that. Just today I saw that Emperor penguin chicks are dying in Antarctica. We are destroying so much in our hubris and arrogance. But is isn’t most humans, just unfortunately those…[Read more]
