@Rint The old 60’s era Cybermen voices are creepy as hell, “you belong to us, you will be like us”. I also found the clockwork men from Girl in the Fireplace quite scary, especially the scene when you first see one. Something about that mask with the smiling face sends a shiver down my spine. Plus any episodes involving body horror like Ark in…[Read more]

I’ve heard of electric cigarettes, but this is taking the mick.

This recession is really starting to affect the Doctor Who budget isn’t it.

  • @Bluesqueakpip I have tried to watch the special edition but like I said I just found the CGI distracting. I guess I should give it a proper watch at some point.

  • I must admit I’ve never been able to watch the special edition. I just find the CGI distracting because I just don’t think it suits classic who.

@Rint Start with Jon Pertwee’s first story Spearhead from Space and continue on from there. You may not like the post Tom Baker Doctor’s, you may not. They certainly have a mixed reputation.
The black and white stuff is really good but it’s also very slow paced, so it may not be your thing. I would recommend watching them last.

I forgot to mention earlier, Martha is often incorrectly referred to as the first black companion. The actual first black companion is of course Micky Smith. I don’t know why so many people make this mistake.

It’s functional as a introduction new companion but that’s all I can really say about it.

For some reason on my last post on the music thread, the video I embedded has now been changed to my favourites playlist. Could somebody remove that post please.

  • @purofilion oh, I get it now.

  • @ScaryB Ah, well I find that bit actually, so no I’m not happy.

  • @ScaryB I’m sorry I don’t understand what you mean by you’ll trust I’ll be happy. Is it because you think I that I like Jo as a companion better than Rose. If that’s the case then yes, I am happy. I actually think Jo is a very underrated companion. Like you said she trusted the Doctor, but still questioned him on occasion. She even saves him just…[Read more]

  • @purofilion I can understand not liking Chaplin, but Laurel and Hardy? How can someone not find them funny? Your parents clearly had no sense of humour.

@JanetteB Yeah I’m not really a fan of the Christmas specials.

  • The Krynoid Man replied to the topic The Runaway Bride

I think this is the best Christmas special. Tate and Tennant are a hilarious double act, it’s no surprise she was brought back as a proper companion. The actual plot is a bit naff, just an excuse for the two of them to get into funny situations, which in this case doesn’t bother me.

I don’t like Lance’s rant at the end where he makes several pop…[Read more]
