Here is what the following seasons will lead to.   That the Doctor is technically one of the first time Lords. Since we know that you can create a time lord by being conceived in a TARDIS.  There for humans are time Lords.   Second the reason the Doctor is one of the first is because in the 50th anniversary episode Tom Baker refers to himself as his future and or past.  That would also be the reason that the moment used Rose’s image because the Doctor created it.
