@fiveroundsrapid – Much as I love Paul McGann’s Doctor, the one and only good reason for watching the TV Movie in my book, I just can’t see the BBC putting money into a one-off 8th Doctor special at the same time as they’re bringing in a new Doctor. I’m not even sure I’d want them to!

At best, a couple of years down the line, they might bring him into a multi-Doctor story with PC; I just can’t see them undercutting their main show.

@scaryb, I’m in full agreement about River.  If Matt had stayed on I’d have been happy not to see her again, but a Kingston/Capaldi double-act, if only for one episode, is something I would really like to see.  Add in a River who is more on the back foot as far as spoilers go, less sure of herself while the Doctor holds a few more of the cards – yes, I’d love to see that!

I hope there’s some truth in the “spikier relationship” thing! Not only would it feel more plausible for me than any kind of carrying-on-regardless, it’d give Jenna something to really get her teeth into as well.  It took me a while to take to Clara (plot device on legs was my rather unkind early thought!) but in the last few episodes I’ve really started to like her.

It’d probably only be a short-term thing – it’d get annoying if they were sniping across the TARDIS console for a whole series – but in terms of character development, for Twelve and Clara, I can see it working really well

    Hello!  Room for another newbie?

I’ve watched pretty much every televised Doctor Who story since  – well, since I was old enough to realise what a television is, I suppose! My early memories are of Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen – Sarah Jane remains my favourite companion to this day – but my all-time favourite Doctor is the Second and I’ve a soft spot for Jamie and Zoe too.

I’m liable to fulminate a bit on occasion about the revived series – don’t get me started on the whole 10/Rose thing! – but I take the view that even pretty poor Doctor Who is still better than 85% of anything else on the telly.  And I’ve been fascinated since discovering this forum by the theories you clever people come up with!  I’ll try to contribute intelligently, but you do set standards pretty high!
