    @Arkleseizure

    The Independent and the Northern Echo both posted the details on their web sites tonight (before pulling them) which agreed with what Lance Parkin said he’d been told. That part of the mystery seems to have been resolved, but ……

    That makes perfect sense although the leaks/rumour i read implied that they had already been restored by BBC Worldwide. It seems the “more to come” element (if its true) would be the unrestored element. Still only 2 hours to go 🙂 although since its already 1 am here, I suspect I’ll be asleep 🙁

    @ScaryB @CptNifty

    Do you think they will be on sale tomorrow ? It would seem unusual (to me anyway) for the BBC to prioritise downloads rather than DVD’s retailers. I’d have thought a release date might be more likely ? I would have thought the story would have leaked earlier if there was going to be a DVD release given the logistics.

    Ha just what i thought 🙂 (although there might just have been some fan flic out there). I thought i recognised Jim’s Dalek design in the foreground.

    the picture looks great. Apart from that, I’m afraid I’ve never heard of it so it must be timelocked like the BBC PR boondogie earlier today

    The Northern Echo story that @CptNifty obliquely referred to is true as they have posted an apology on their web site

    @ScaryB – I bought the DVD a few months ago, but haven’t had the chance to watch it. I would have read the novelization when it was released, but I’m afraid that was a long time ago (full of Jim’s padding it I’m […]

    Thanks again. I took this line “You are required to help with the cleaning-up operations in the Rill city. The colonisation craft will be here in less than 12 hours.” to imply ethnic cleansing was […]

    Personally I think AG Who could do worse than rework some of the older stories (after all they have done a couple of the books and Audio stories) personally, although there is always merit […]

    Thanks an interesting post as ever. No I don’t want to see Doctor Who at 9pm (although something else other than a crime set drama trying to do the same things with character would be nice for a change), but I was trying to point out that I see (possibly wrongly) there’s much more in D10 character development “arc” which is akin to…[Read more]

    A curmudgeon (yes I checked the definition) is what I try to avoid being (sorry can’t help it – this form of ARSE seems to have crept up on me with age), but it isn’t how I see D10 at all. I thought this

    The Tennant Doctor’s path was one of starting out thinking that the Time War was over, finished with, done. He could get on with his…[Read more]

    I think I would add a third thing, although its certainly ought to have less impact –  which is the story itself.

    From my memory (not totally reliable) the character development rich stories in US equivalents such as Star Trek or Buffy have rather less or a simpler story rather the standard episodes giving them the screen time to…[Read more]

    Excellent analysis, which rings very true for me. However, for me there is a different question at work here.

    but at one point both Freema Agyeman and David Tennant said that the Doctor didn’t realise. Because if he had, his behaviour in The Shakespeare Code would have been very, very cruel.

    I have little…[Read more]

    I pretty much agree with your description of DT’s time as D10. For me, the low key stories which generally had less Arc continuity were generally the best. I’m afraid I never appreciated RTD’s instinct for epic series endings including as many recurring characters as possible.

    Even though the Tennant/Piper team was only 1 series…[Read more]

    Thanks for this. I really enjoyed reading it. D1 with a tash ?! You’ve moved a very long way from the original. Whilst I can see where you went with the Drahvins really being Thals and I think you explained […]

  • @Phaseshift

    Just musing at the list…aren’t Terrence Dicks and Robert Holmes essentially responsible for all the decent Time Lord stories (either as writer or script editor) and most of the mythology ?

    Nick

  • Excellent post @Phaseshift. I’m very glad I avoided being a fan all that time I was a fan. I fully agree, TimeLords are best NOT seen or heard from at all as BG Who managed to show us without really trying. Whilst […]
