Thanks for the edit @craig … Nothing like a little trim to make one more suitable for public presentation… Having spent a couple of years on motorcycle forums, I now have to rein things in and get used to the limits and parameters of this ‘brave new world’, so I’ll rely on your eagle eyes to spot any slips of taste and/or decency that may accidentally dive in under the radar  (Ok, so now everybody else will be wondering what the heck I said … exciting stuff!) Now … as we’re in the pub… a little light-hearted Tomfoolery as we munch the Cheese and Onion…

Who’d win in a Celebrity Deathmatch fight between a Yeti and an Ogron? ….

    Hi @tardisblue …. I’m just lurking around …. lurking around… lurking? … looking? … around? …  geddit? …. 😉  Oh please yourself… 😀

@shazzbot .. thanks for the explanation (well, thanks for the chorus of explanation folks – love a good sing-song…)  and yes – enthusiasm is apparently quite healthy – it never hurt Peter Capaldi ! ….

Ok @whisht … I just want to clarify this…. the whole ‘integrate Peter Cushing’ idea wasn’t really something I was thinking about seriously – it’s always been something I just accepted as ‘there were movies as well as the series’ ever since I first saw them on tv back in the 1970’s – I never got confused between them and the tv series (with Jon Pertwee, as it was back then) especially since one movie had the bloke from ‘Record Breakers’ and the other one had the voice of ‘The Wombles’ (Tv… not pop group…) in it… My whole point was a gentle pointing out of the similarities between SM’s current vision and the style of the films, culminating in Peter Capaldi being cast… (wonder if he’ll wear the scarf and fingerless gloves? … )  Welcome to the can ‘o worms! (Note to self – tread more carefully next time …)

Having said that…. I’m hugely impressed with the level of invention and debate here! you chaps and chapesses are truly marvellous! So tell me – what’s the latest speculation about John Hurt’s Doctor / Half-Doctor / Hybrid / Splinter / mutant jelly baby version …..

    Hello pub!! … Hello good people in the pub… hello @shazzbot , @madscientist72 , @fatmaninabox  et merry al …

Just thought I’d pop in and get a round in (newbies duty and all that…)

If it helps with the current discussion- in among all the actors who’ve been in DW and TW etc … (Btw – in this land of acronyms – Wtf is ‘TD TWAT W’? … sounds a little rude…)  I have a couple of mates who’ve been in the shows… Ok – don’t get all excited – one was an extra in ‘Human Nature’ and ‘The Family of Blood’ (played Mr Snell, but ended up cruelly cut down and ended up on the cutting room floor …) and another who was in ‘The Sound of Drums’ and ‘Last of the Time Lords’ … ( he was the baldy bodyguard at the bottom of the stairs when the President got minced…) and was also in Torchwood (Baldy guard type again)

Sooooo …. on with the pub games…

Nice one… er… ones..  @madscientist72 …. That’s a pretty cool bunch of theories, and I can’t say ‘rubbish’ to any of them! – Just one thing –  how’s about this as a little addition, or alteration maybe (not exactly in the name of peace or sanity, just in the name … you know the rest…) … instead of the ‘regenerating in close proximity’ device, which seems just a little bit too ‘quantum-linked’ for comfort, how about a bit of nifty ‘deviated time-line’ action, with the whole ‘Silence assassination plot’ coming to fruition a little sooner and involving the Tennant ‘half-human… (etc)  Doctor’, instead of Matt Smiths… that way, River Song could give her regenerations to the ‘human’ version (or a portion of them) thus enabling a divergent time-line to develop in which a regeneration into young Peter Cushing wouldn’t be impossible… of course, that opens the way for a load of tricky questions about Amy, Rory, The Weeping Angels and all those other intervening events which would have to be re-shuffled to lead up to the final giving of regenerations … well, actually …  forget all that – I like yours better ….

Oh , and @whisht – thanks for the hints – Let the oddball theories commence! 🙂

@shazzbot   –  Aah – well …yes, sorry – it’s been a while since I had like-minded folks to chat to about something that’s been a bit of a personal obsession for more than 40 years… you’ll have to forgive me for this little ‘getting used to things’ moment…

As Colin Baker once said … ‘Rest is for the weary – sleep is for the dead’ … so no laying down just yet…

Well, obviously the thing on the mind at the moment is the impending 50th, John Hurt, the upcoming regeneration story, the next season and Peter Capaldi … ok, that’s five things but that’s beside the point… Well, having asked the question that was the whole reason for signing up here (the Stephen Moffatt/Movie Doctor thing) and checked out the suggested ‘bonkers theory’, that was offered in response, I’d better address that one …

Personally, I can’t imagine that Mr Moff would even contemplate a connection between the tv series and the movies – that’s just unthinkable – after all, the two movies are just bigger, more colourful versions of two of the oldest tv stories. It would therefore be virtually impossible to explain how a very clever Earth-man could have invented a time machine, given it the same name and attributes as the classic Time-Lord invention, the TARDIS, and gone on to have a couple of adventures that mirrored the exploits of the Time Lord he’s meant to be replacing, before taking up a life of adventures ‘in the name of The Doctor’ … it just doesn’t work …

… Confound it all! … new-fangled things!! … Ok – showing (a bit) of my age here, and a degree of techno-duncery that would make the average Neanderthal slap his protruding, overhanging, prominent brow with a gnarly and somewhat coarse hand, I have questions…

    1) Where are the smileys to be found? I’ve seen them used, but can’t see where they’re hiding…

    2) How do I get the name of the person I’m replying to, to appear in the post – again – just about every post here has a name or link in it somewhere, and I’d quite like to be able to direct my comments etc in the right direction …

    3) Well … there was a ‘3’ to begin with, but sadly I’ve forgotten it. Still –  having started with the ‘3’, It felt wrong to abandon it so soon …

Thanks for the greetings, by the way – I was kind of worried that I might have unintentionally committed some heinous crime by mentioning the films (Some folks can get quite sniffy about them) Actually … I quite like them …

Back to the wise ones … Geronimo!

Aah, thanks for the explanation – I was starting to think I’d missed something vital… ‘BG’?  –  ‘AG’? I was getting quite concerned… well, now I’m on to that one.

Ok … I’m going to throw this one out there – it’s probably been asked before, but as an ice-breaker, it’s got to be better than a large, pointy metal thing that’s being powered by a huge, powerful engine….

Does anyone out there think that Stephen Moffatt has a bit of a ‘movie’ obsession going on? Now, I’m not referring to the last season with it’s ‘epic’ style episodes, and ‘movie poster’ type ads for each episode and the overall .. er.. ‘bigness’ of the ambition… (ok – so that thought got away from me a bit)  no, not at all, I rather like it, in fact. No – I’m referring to the subtle ways he seems to be trying to emulate the two Doctor Who movies from the ’60’s … we’ve got the bigger, bluer TARDIS with the St John’s badge reinstated, we had bigger, more colourful Daleks, and now we have Peter Capaldi, looking very ‘Peter Cushing’-ish …

Thoughts anyone? or should I retreat into the corner and hang my head in shame … again! ..

Hello everybody…… well, maybe ‘everybody’ sounds a bit like I’m addressing a morgue or something, and I’m really hoping that’s not the case, because if it is then I’ve really got it really wrong again… I’m new here – well, Ok, so now I’m thinking ‘new’ isn’t right either, as I’ve been in this body for 40-something years and as such, ‘new’ just isn’t right… isn’t right at all … Anyway – Here I am… old/new … and here… what’s happening then? any bodies there? …
