Re “something in the wifi” – I’d been thinking this had to be the Great Intelligence again, but I think Richard E isn’t scheduled till later and the wifi one is first…. There again Richard E’s appearance could suggest a return to Xmas special time period… with its newspaper and other anomalies. Is that Clara’s home time after all?

Does anyone know if Series 8 is planned to be screened before the 50th?

The lack of information on Series 8 is stunning. In fact, it’s getting quite noticeable that there is NO information on Series 8 beyond ‘there will be one’. Which is partly why I’ve developed my Especially Bonkers Theory that Matt Smith’s Eleven is regenerating at the end of Series 7. It explains why they can’t tell us anything about S8. At all. Even slightly.

Until, presumably, May 18th.

In the meantime, Mr Smith is reprising his role for the Christmas Special as either the Big Bad or a Past Doctor, and S8 has in fact been secretly filming at TV Centre – under the guise of An Adventure in Space and Time.

Especially Bonkers enough? 😀

Does anyone know if Series 8 is planned to be screened before the 50th? Or will be left for months with an almighty cliffhanger/gamechanger at the end of 7.2?

Was just reading some ponderings on this on a blog today. I’m afraid the schedule looks like 7.2 starting on Saturday (yay!!) and almost certainly ending with an almighty cliffhanger. Then the anniversary special in November (whether that’s a single one-hour episode or a couple of episodes still seems to be open to question) and then the Xmas special at, er, Xmas. The only things we know about Season 8 is that Moffatt is ‘working on it’ now and that Jenna-Louse (but not Matt interestingly) has confirmed that she’s going to be in it.

Bearing in mind that they’re only starting to film the anniversary special (this week I think), let alone the Xmas special*, then it’s unlikely that we’ll see Season 8 much before September-ish 2014.

(Unless of course the anniv special(s) and the Xmas special are being filmed together and are heavily linked, like a mini-series in themselves (7.3/7c?))

I like those theories. I had been assuming that there was a strong possibility that Matt was actually going to be in the Xmas special as a ‘past’ Doctor. But as the ‘big bad’ hadn’t occurred to me. Good call.

OK, slight amendment to my Doctored Great Intelligence theory. Season 7.2 ends with said baddie revealing itself and maybe taking physical form as duplicate of Eleven. Some catastrophe prompts Doc Eleven’s regeneration. The anniversary episode(s) and possibly the Xmas one too centre around the regenerated Doctor fighting the GI, with possible flashbacks to Web of Fear (reconstructed with the help of Reece Shearsmith as Doc 2) with Matt as the Big Bad fighting ‘himself’…

It does sounds a bit fanwanky even to me, but you did ask for bonkers theories….

Just a note to say that I’m closing this thread as I assume each episode’s discussion will lead to much speculation and I’d like to try and keep most of it in one place. I will of course re-open it if there are howls of outrage!
