I don’t mind people disagreeing with him (or anyone), but it’s the way it’s done. It was just insulting. Sadly, people seem to get off on it.

CiF is used by Daily Mail/Telegraph/others to vent their views and skew the general tone of its blogs. As @jimthefish has noted, CiF is becoming increasingly intolerant. I wish they’d keep to their own.

oops, sorry about the lack of white space in the first post. I wrote in word for Mac then copied and pasted. Something to do with formatting I guess.

oh one more thing. RE the Guardian site. There was one post that told Dan that he must be ‘easily pleased’ given the pile of ‘horse shit’ this episode was. Random poster attacks the person who set up the blog and has been running it for how many seasons? Why do people feel the need to post such things?

    Hello all,

A big flap of the wings to all the fish, various fowl and others. I’ve not been around these parts for a while, but have been catching up on the bonkers theorising. I’m very impressed with meta-narrative reading put forward, and the numerology to back it up.  I think it must be Moffatt’s intention to do this. He’s playing with us, isn’t he?
I’ve watched this episode twice now, and enjoyed it much more second time around. Once I got over the singing (I’m with @chickenelly on this) and paid more attention to the plot and themes it explored I got much more out of it.
The Doctor’s speech to Grandfather really was parallel laden wasn’t it? The Doctor is the Grandfather (both literally and metaphorically) and his assistants feed him what he needs to keep him sane: they are the Queens of Ages. I read a theory elsewhere (could well be here as well) that suggested that the Doctor’s companions are ‘created’ for him to save himself and the universe from his dark side. I like it, and it does explain why throughout the show’s history he finds a new companion fairly quickly after losing the last.
Like @Shazzbot, I wish I could come up with a bonkers theory about Clara that will blow everyone away, but can’t. I don’t think  she is Jenny or Pond or Song related though.
The Doctor is besotted with her, but is highly suspicious her, and quite right given his enemies of the last two seasons. I don’t think she’ll turn out to be a trap or a foe, though. If she has been created for him, it is ultimately to help (him remember?) when he gets to Tranzalore.  Looking forward to how this develops.
I’ll also be looking out next week to see if he remembers a certain creature on a submarine. That will be a good test of the losing memory theory.

The recent hot weather here has been a rel spoiler. My butter is rank, and my milk has chunks in it.

    Wow. Nice one, @edmund

I have an overwhelming desire to seek out other historical inaccuracies. Trouble is my history is a bit shaky.

I just hope Moff’s isn’t, and these are deliberate clues.

oh, and Kovarian and the Silence are bound to make a return, aren’t they? it’s going to be a very busy anniversary year.

oh yes, the Fields of Tranzilor. That has to feature somewhere doesn’t it. The fall of the eleventh and all that. Better not mean his regeneration. I would be very unhappy at that. I think Matt could go for a while yet.

I think re spoilers, it’s best to err on the side of caution. Personally I like little teases (Timothy Dalton a Time Lord? I can’t wait!), but not reveals.

The risk is that we actually stumble across what’s going to happen during our theorising (I know, it’s not likely but is possible!), and hence spoil without meaning to. It is a minefield. I guess we all have to take it on good faith that we are not deliberately posting spoilers, but only taking wild (and only sligthly educated) guesses.

The rumour I read was the title – it was a bit too obvious to be believable…

The Master has to return, and I would like to see Sim play the role under Moffatt’s charge. RTD camped him up a bit for me. I’d have loved Derek Jacobi to get more screen time as the Master.

    @juniperfish,

    2. Ecclestone, Tennant and Smith bickering in the TARDIS: Matt Smith once said that Ecclestones Doctor would “give my Doctor a bit of a whopping, wouldn’t he?….Proper hard, leather jacket”. Cue images of Dr 9 chasing 11 around the Tardis…

I hate to say this, but I think the anniversary needs the Daleks. After all, Doctor Who probably wouldn’t have survived 50 years without them.

Oh, and please. No more Rose. One goodbye too many already. But Canton. Definitely him.

No, @blenkinsopthebrave – I train and bus it. Lots of time to Google Dr Who rumours…

I did enjoy the amount of SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS people were writing as warning on the Guardian website.

    Hi @scaryb ,

Sorry I missed your post about the eshorts 🙂

Where do you live, then to be posting so late/early? No, sadly NZ telly is not available in Aus. I wish ABC would do the same. Maybe an email to them…

The spoiler/tease thing is always a difficult one. Maybe a separate Rumours thread would be best – though it is bound to leach into this thread, and the bonkers theorising influenced. I do think we need some broad consensus, as I’d hate to ruin anything. Personally I like teases like the Liberty as angel..

A question to throw out there to everyone.  Do we / should we have any rules regarding rumours/theories that we find elsewhere on the net? I did a search for rumours on my way to work this morning and found something quite interesting. It was posted then quickly deleted, but not before it was picked up by other sites. Nothing particularly spoilerish, but I remember a fairly extensive debate on the Guardian about spoilers last season. Some peoples’ teases are others’ spoilers and all that.

I think perhaps we should revisit that debate just so we all agree (at least to some extent) where a line should be drawn (and indeed if it should be). Perhaps a different thread @craig ?

If you want to hear the rumour I found let me know (you’ll probably all find it on your way to work, too).

I’m increasingly impressed with this site, Craig. I’ve never been part of a living, evolving website. it is very exciting.

@phaseshift – thanks for the link to the companions and especially for the info about the monthly podcasts Downunder. I shall be tuning in

I came across this today from the Beeb – I don’t think anyone else has posted about it. They are releasing 11 ‘eshort stories’ over the next eleven months; one for each Doctor. They are all written by  ‘well known’ children’s authors. A paperback version is to be released in November. I think I will entertain the child in me and download them.

    Hello all,

So good to see this site taking off. I don’t have anynew theories no matter how hard I try. I don’t think Clara is a/the Tardis or anything to do with Amy or River. I think Moffatt is creating a whole new arc. I did have a daft idea that Clara is a personification of the Papal mainframe, but as I said, that is daft – Moffatt would piss off a whole church and it’s followers that way.

@chickenelly (us birds are heavily outnumbered by fish, dammit) asked upstream if there were any flickering lights in the Snowmen. I did notice that when Clara kissed the Doctor, there seemed to be a  lot of static electricity about.  At first I thought it was the Icewoman trying to get through the force field, but the other times they showed her, there wasn’t  any static. It only seemed to happen during the snog. Probably nothing more than symbolic of the effect she was having on the Dr, but it did seem odd.

Can’t believe we have to wait for bleeding Easter.

Lots of discussion about Clara being computer related. In A Good Man, Colonel ‘Runaway’ talks about “The Papal Mainframe Herself”.

Hmmmm. Is Clara the Papal Mainframe made flesh?

It would fit in nicely with what has gone on before during Moffatt and Smith’s  tenure.

*puts thinking cap on to further formulate theory*

I’m in! After I realised I has misspelt my user name when registering.Damn hangover.

Anyone know how I can change to bobbingbird? Bobbibgbird just doesn’t quite do it for me. Craig can you help? And thanks for setting this up.

I can’t believe Blenkinsop isn’t hungover. I give you in evidence: CO2 is carbon dioxide, not water 😉 Even I know that,  and I’m crap at chemistry. Other than that, a good summary, brave one. I don’t thin Clara is the Dr and River’s daughter, though. I think that’d be stretching the River story too far.

I love Nathaniel’s theory over on the Guardian site; that Clara will take us and The Doctor right back to the beginning when, as a young Dr,  he steals the Tardis and runs. And that there is something he has forgotten which she will help him remember.

I watched Blink again, yesterday. By gahd it’s good.
