Clearly Duggan is meant to be a substitute for Harry Sullivan in this, but there are no substitutes! Ever!!!!
I’m just kidding, but seriously though why didn’t Duggan become a companion. We need more dim-witted male companions. Not like Rory though, he was a wimp. Harry and Duggan wouldn’t have put up with any of Amy’s nonsense.

@PhaseShift That was a lovely tribute to the man, although to be honest he’s not quite my favourite Master, that would be Peter Pratt, although Delgado is a very, very, close second.

@PhaseShift I remember reading the Sally Sparrow short story in a Doctor Who annual (would have been around 2005 because it was for the first series). When I saw blink I immediately recalled the story. Do you ever get a sense of childlike glee when somebody makes a reference that only you understand, but it doesn’t matter that nobody else gets it…[Read more]

I missed this during the original broadcast so when I first saw it I already knew that Jacobi was the master. It’s still a great cliff-hanger and probably the best of the SOD U LOTT three parter. It’s a shame he only got to play the role in one episode and didn’t get play it properly until the last 10 minutes. I think he could have been up there…[Read more]

Carla Laemmle, one of the very few surviving silent film actors and the first person to speak in a sound horror film has died at 104.

@PhaseShift I am aware of Moviedrome, although I’ve never watched it as you can imagine. They should really bring it back.
The Horror Channel also shows more recent stuff, but most of it is still not very well known.

@PhaseShift I remember Twisted Nerve popping up on the Horror Channel either this year or last year. It was part of a cult classics season along with The Man who Fell to Earth, Peeping Tom and Fear in the Night. You’re right about it being a shame that these kind of films aren’t shown on mainstream channels anymore. Even some classic films don’t…[Read more]

Here is something I made in Photoshop

@craig I got Julian Glover’s autograph at the Newcastle Film and Comic Con earlier this year. He signed a Quatermass and the Pit postcard that came with a Hammer Horror box set I own. I also got the novelization of Survival signed by Sylvester McCoy Sophie Aldred and a Withnail and I Blu Ray signed by Paul McGann, who is one of the nicest people…[Read more]

Out of all the monsters from the classic series you could have brought back, they chose the Maccra.

I also think Mary Tamm was a better Romana than Lalla. I like both of them, but Mary had better chemistry with Tom in my opinion. The Doctor and Romana 2, particularly in this story, just come off as a couple of horny teenagers who can’t keep their hands off each other. They’re both in my top 10 companions though.

To be honest I think this story is a bit overrated. It’s got nice scenery, some great dialogue and Lalla Ward in a school uniform, but that’s it really. It’s still very enjoyable but I wouldn’t put it in my top 20.

@PhaseShift but Skeletor Master! But Lalla dressed as a school girl! But Skeletor Master! But Lalla dressed as a school girl! (wimpers) DON’T MAKE ME CHOOSE!!!!!!

@PhaseShift I know we’re likely going to end up watching City of Death, but I still feel obliged to vote Deadly Assassin.
