@blenkinsopthebrave I wonder if the writers of The Simpsons are Doctor Who fans?

I imagine that the scene where the Cybermen look at their previous encounters must have been interesting for fans since the stories they show clips from wouldn’t have been seen since their original broadcast (I’m not sure if Revenge of the Cybermen had been repeated before this).

@jimthefish oh absolutely. I’ve criticised the new series a lot (a bit too much if I’m being honest), but the cliffhangers have been consitantly good, even on stories I’m not a big fan of.

Another of my earliest memories was watching the last episode the Green Death. Quite amusingly, I thought Pertwee was William Hartnell when I first watched it, this being because the only Doctors I was aware of at the time were Hartnell, Troughton and Tom Baker, and Pertwee had white hair so I assumed he was Hartnell.

While the cliffhanger may be one of the best of the series, I do feel its significance is lost on a lot of younger viewers. Firstly, the front cover ruins the surprise by having a picture of a Cyberman on it. This should be enjoyable, I love Earthshock. That reminds me that I need to get the DVD again.

@purofilion I have been doing a foundation degree course, which lasts two years, and I just finished the second year. I will hopefully be doing a third year if I pass.

@jimthefish At least we agree that the actually costume and make up design is excellent.

@JimTheFish I agree that Peter Pratt’s portrayal barely resembles the other incarnations, but that’s what I like about him. He fully brings out The Masters insanity and, unlike Simm and Gomez, manages to make it actually scary and not let it turn the character into a pantomime villain. But to each his own.

Does anyone like the Master in this story besides me?

I love this story. Not only does it have my favourite Master and a wonderfully gothic atmosphere, but it’s also a fairly intelligent political thriller. This is my favourite story of all time. To me it’s one of only 3 stories that I rate 10/10 and nothing will ever top it.

@Craig That does sound very similar, although I was under the impression that David Bowie came up with the riff for Lust for Life.

Has anybody noticed that these two song’s have the exact same riff?

This is the only vaguely Friday related song I could think of (My musical knowlage is probably quite limited compared to some of you guy’s)
