OK. A similar gap to that between Hell Bent and Mysterio. Without Husbands. Better than an inbox full of trolls. Maybe we’ll get a proper 12 ep season to follow!

BAD NEWS! Another gap for Doctor Who. I know some people will think it’s good, though. https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-future-confirmed-bbc-disney-newsupdate/

Also… last thoughts… wishful thinking… Carol Ann Ford’s description of these unused scenes… do you think there’s any chance at all another episode was recorded back to back with ‘Reality War’?

Just started this… the fateful figures ‘1hr 28 mins’ flashed up. Ooh, I know I said late Chib was a bit of an improvement but that’s a tall order. About 1/2 hr in at the mo.

Also reviewing the work of the mighty Chris Boucher. It is much easier.

Does the apparent negativity from Shearman, Purves, Gibson & Ford indicate something’s about to be announced…? I suspect so.
If Carol Ann Ford is harking back to unseen clips from Reality War, and Gibson grousing about spoilers, while Shearman and Purves make… uncharacteristically unclassy comment, is this actually the troll…[Read more]

@winston We always include this episode with our Christmas re watch too. I do like it too though Rose’s costume is questionable but then, like Bill, she chose it herself. (Bill chose better)

    cheers

  • janetteB replied to the topic The End of the World

@winston I recall enjoying this episode at the time but I don’t think I have ever re watched it. I did enjoy the diversity of aliens, and the humour. From memory it was beginning to feel as though Dr Who was really back but it isn’t one that i chose when I am going back through old episodes to watch. So many better episodes were to follow.

    cheers

I watched this again and liked it even more than the first time. This feels so Victorian and  Dickensian with its dark rooms lit by gas lights and the horses and streets and a spooky funeral home. The dead are walking. Not all aliens are  honest. The Doctor has to save Rose and Dickens tags along to help.

I actually added this episode to my C…[Read more]

  • winston replied to the topic The End of the World

I watched it again and enjoyed it all over again. It was strange to take Rose to the end of Earth and even a little cruel but maybe he was testing her. If she could handle this event and all the aliens maybe she was a good choice of companions. Maybe he was trying to show her how sad he was about Gallifrey. Maybe he doesn’t think at all. He does…[Read more]

Sorry, the 40th anniversary of UF, and 50th anniversary of DA, is NEXT year of course. Maybe we’re gonna be inundated with rumour and bitchin for the whole of the coming year.

Though 29th Nov and 6th Dec are Sundays. If they did feel up to springing a pre xmas short season.

    Ruby Sunday anyone?

I forgot about Shrewsbury… that’s off the beaten track. The rest are in ‘far-back brokerland’: all well attended provincial theatres. I only mentioned Woking to further possible Dorks vs Wokes humour. Though Woking also has a nice theatre.

But they are real shows. So yes, lots of coincidences happening. Now it’s the National…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u     Still a bizarre selection of venues.   Shrewsbury, Dorking, Crawley and Winchester.   (I had to look up where Crawley was, I had an idea it was somewhere near Woking  🙂    Maybe it’s where theatres can be hired at a reasonable price.

Umm, Crawley.   Name rings a bell.   He was the demon in Neil Gaiman’s ‘Good Omens’, played…[Read more]

The Christmas Carol tour of southern Britain is real! Both Bakers & Peter ‘kid show’ Purves. But I’m sure none of them object to plugging their show…

But both the Shearman and Ford stories… and Millie Gibson too? Is this all actually the ultimate tease?

re Dorking… the place name is ancient and distinctive, indicating the Anglo Saxon settlement of Dork’s people which, as I have explained to my daughter on Wimbledon Station, should not be confused with the place of Woke’s people, or you will find yourself on the wrong train.

Well, I just rewatched it.   Didn’t make notes this time, just enjoyed the episode.

The ship was absolutely beautiful (I know I said that before, but it still is awesome, even on repeat viewing).   CGI well done, and very convincing.   Nice contrast with the rusty old robot.   Don’t know why it had to reconfigure, maybe to maximise the self-de…[Read more]
