So apropos of absolutely nothing, how about a week of ‘relevant’ songs?

Today is Monday so that means we could have the awesome Blue Monday or possibly something that will raise a smile for anyone whose dancing is ‘loose’ (this made me smile with blurred memories of the Hacienda but be warned it has loads of strobing so just listen if that affects you).

No strobing here (except in the head)…

But here’s one I’ll embed. A bunch of chancers, lads getting a video done and thinking “hey – we can get models to dance with us?? Yes!” but compared to the club video its all a bit… awkward.

Loved Blue Monday. As usual, scanning the comments where one girl says “Hated high school. All Huey Lewis. Came to college. Heard this song”.

Another poster comments on this lass’ picture: “nice jugs” to which damsel says, “thx, I work out.” One dude pipes up, “I wouldn’t have passed Freshman as I’d have wanted me some o’ those yo mammaries “.

Another reply: “Your a knob”.

I’ll have to admit my library was rather mean in terms of Tuesday songs so I actually had to do some research(!)

I searched (and found stuff) far and wide, mulled over a few and then I came across two gold-plated wonders.
There are Tuesday songs and there are Tuesday songs.
Not wanting to close the discussion before it begins but here hey are:
Duane Eddy and the Rebels (with added Weld!)

and the guy with the greatest antennas for talent the world has ever known, though here its like a pastiche of himself!!

ok – the bar is high – lets hear your Tuesday tunes!

I’ll admit the cheekie-chappie-Bowie was just hilarious when I found it – sorry if it killed today’s Tuesday choons.

I did find these two as well which kinda pass the time (though sadly for you are now yesterday’s tunes).
I came across this rather bittersweet bit of country called Sun Comes Up its Tuesday Morning from the Cowboy Junkies.
Bizarrely (for me) I came across a Tuesday song I don’t have by the Durutti Column (though he does tend to release rather a lot of stuff so maybe not surprising?).

so, any more Tuesday choons before we get to Wednesday? Any Matthew Sweet fans? I’ve not got anything by him and don’t tend to post if I’ve no connection to the music at all but this is tangentially Tuesday…

Its a bit of a dance number, which I’ll admit isn’t my forte but the kidz like this kinda thing (do they still have glow sticks?)

Its connection to the day? well, seeya is a remix of the fuller titled song about seeing someone a week hence on a Tuesday. as in Tuesday next.
and that’s as far as I’ll spell it out for anyone.

truly, excepting the dance number, those were a great set -I’m Greeen with envy, yes siree.

I thought Garfunkel would be satisfying enough, but nope.

Sweet is darned brilliant -smashin out his gui-tar.

Oh who cares what day of the week it is (OK, a good game, humbled)?  still, the music, dude.

Actually, in editing, the dance number is ….OK. They do fortify themselves with those glo-sticks and pretty much anything else….that helps improve the mood!

In about 1995, after virtually living in hospital for  a year, I had occasion to stay with friends who actually had a TV. For a good portion of the 1990s, I couldn’t afford a telly or a VCR -they were expensive back then and when I was living with my parents as a kid,they were not at all happy with the Addams!

But then they didn’t like my love of the Doctor either. I missed a lot of superb telly as kid/teen. Hill Street Blues came and went. Streets of San Fran; Hawaii Five O. Anything with Telly Savalas and Clint Eastwood. Actually, pretty much everyone in tight jeans with a deep voice or skirts and a high pitched voice. Julie Andrews was OK -The Sound of Music was the movie of the year. Not even Frank Capra was Okayed -too metaphoric and random. I’m surprised I have any kind of a brain at all. Good thing I had friends who not only had telly but it was in their rooms . Umh – aah! 😉

Anyway, my friends had telly and their 4 year old was watching repeats of The AF every day -fabulous

perfect cadence followed by imperfect cadence and then a plagal followed by a whole new mode and then the semitone changes!  -almost like 8 Miles High. Sigh with pleasure.

And I didn’t even see @jimthefish perfect offering (see, those words? Punning on L. Cohen…) of Mr Bowie whose wonderful interview with Parky some years ago was one of the best, true interviews with Bowie I’ve ever seen. Hanks was on at the same time but even he seemed star struck and nothing he said was particularly funny -but then he’s a Republican so what can you expect? 😉

@arbutus – it was only morning and you’re pouring yourself wine… ok. erm. That’s fine.

But what is it with jazz and Thursdays?
When i was looking for Thursday music I found a lovely bit of jazz here from Bobby Hutcherson who seems to have had a thing about Thursday.

@fatmaninabox – its quite a busy mix isn’t it? Its got (literally) everything. I should complement with some Mars Volta but…. another time!

Only other Thursday tune I found that i vaguely thought worth sharing was something a bit more… robust.
2 things – 1, if you’re gonna take your shirt off at a gig… erm…. well there’ll be comparisons (I’m looking at you lead guitar) and also whenever I think of Rollins I remember my very meek friend telling me how he found Henry sitting on his wall waiting for him (actually his girlfriend) when he got home one time in Leeds.
Just…. mind boggling imagining Rollins waiting for someone sitting on his terrace-house wall.
