@dalektor Hello, good question and good answer! I love remembrance as well @stitchintime I also love deadly assassin so you two are not alone in your choices
For me it has to be between power of the Daleks and the mind robber though tomorrow it will probably be different! It’s such a shame that power is missing as its a great story and a very…[Read more]

@dalektor– in theory he ought to be getting more support but its a hard slog to get to that point, and a lot of the support that was available has been cut. He’s 55, illiterate with severe mental problems as well (but a fantastic memory and the one we trust most to look after our dogs). We tend to take turns helping him out with court…[Read more]

YOU HAVEN’T DISCOVERED THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY?!?!?!?!?! Not the unutterably shit Hollywood movie, which missed the point of every single joke, but the original radio series and spin-off books?
Oh my. Have you moved here from Betelgeuse?
Are you in for a treat.

@dalektor I don’t really know why people seem to not like the seventh doctor but it might be something to do with the viewing figures and the show’s cancellation which makes people hold a grudge against him. The eleventh doctor Matt Smith is one of my favourites I just thought he was absolutely brilliant and he even said he took inspiration from…[Read more]

@dalektor Hello I loved reading your list and was glad to see that the 7th doctor was high up on the list (weirdly not many people like him but I think he is one of the greats!). As I have probably mentioned before (just a few times!) I think the 2nd doctor is my favourite and for someone like you who likes the 7th doctor I reckon you would love…[Read more]

@pedant @dalektor On Dalek “art”, has this point ever been addressed in DW? I mean the difficulties of actually perceiving alien art as art in our own terms. It took a long time for Westerners to perceive African art as art, didn’t it? Too easy to dismiss strange-looking objects as “ritual objects” or some such, maybe, rather than rea…[Read more]

@dalektor I think with no-one to conquer and exterminate the Daleks would eventually go insane. A whole universe of insane Daleks with nothing to do but form a glee club. After learning to sing and dance they will be put on shows that will drive those few remaining “sane” Daleks insane also. After 146 hours of the Dalek version of Singing in t…[Read more]

@dalektor @puroandson I always have trouble picking my favourite Doctor because it changes now and then. The Doctor I’m watching is usually #1 so now it’s the 12th. I really enjoy the 11th Doctor and all his amazing companions and 10 and his flirty ways but the 9th Doctor will always be “my Doctor”. ChrisDoc is the first one I watched and I…[Read more]

Interestingly the other night at the meeting I was at, (which had nothing at all to do with Dr Who, it is purely coincidental that I am generally in the company of at least one or more Who fans.) people were also expressing the wish that the next companion be an alien. It has long been a wish of mine. I think we are rather done with…[Read more]

@DalekTor Having conquered the Universe and destroyed everything not Dalek-kind, they would no longer have a purpose. Their society would become corrupt and would ultimately collapse in on itself. Finally, a tiny group of visionary Daleks, understanding what the Daleks had done to themselves, would set out on a quest, in search of some re…[Read more]

Consider divine beauty from the Dalek PoV. Say, annihilating a planet.
They could, perhaps, develop a planet killer/ Death Star type thing.
But that might be considered crass, graceless.
They may prefer, from the standpoint of beauty, to build a legion or two and take the plant apart inch-by-inch to fully savour every…[Read more]

making actual art
No, no – you were perfectly clear. It just seems that you are exhibiting a very human concept of art 😉
to see why the giant pepper-pots were scary
It’s not the pepper-pots, it’s the pepper!

Metal container for the discs.
Colon-D is the big smiley, I think (will find out in a mo). 😀
The Daleks have a concept of beauty (cf Asylum). So they probably already do art – we just don’t see at as that!

hello! If the Daleks did win then I imagine that they would somehow manipulate and erase bits of time itself so that whole races never even existed so they would not need to destroy them making it easier for the Daleks to win. Other than that I bet they would get just a tiny bit bored maybe resurrect races to destroy again.
