Yeah, I love the show.
I don’t really understand why a hell of a lot of people have been so down on it recently.
I get it, Chibnall’s run has been problematic.
Personally if the Timeless Child story vanishes without a trace, I won’t mourn it.
However, all era’s have had ups and downs.
And I’ve had an extremely concentrated dose of Doctor Who.
Up until recently I had never seen the classic era.
I know, I’m late to the party… I’m in my late 40’s, I should have seen at least a few episodes growing up, but nope, I didn’t watch any of it.
But then 2020 happened, with all the blasted lock downs.
I was stuck at home, alone, no Internet, a dying ps3 and nothing to do.
A friend of mine lent me his entire Doctor Who collection.
All surviving episodes.
All the spin offs.
All of it.
So, that’s how I spent 2020.
Getting a fairly intense crash course in Doctor Who.
I got to say, it was a slog at times, but overall I loved it.
I do prefer the classic era’s suspenseful story telling but I like NuWho’s fast pacing.
One thing about the modern era I don’t really like is the constant use of the sonic screwdriver.
One last thing, that last ep of Jody’s…
Sacha Dhawan’s frankly insane Master..
Ace, Tegan, Mel, Ian…
Seeing the Dalek and Cyber Master exchange a look whilst Boney M played as the Master danced…
#13 went out with a bang.
Fantastic episode.
