I’m watching the Power of Three and I wonder whether Brian has ever met River? In the end she was his family. Who else left for him (except that unofficial Amy and Rory’s adoptive son)? Scriptwriters haven’t thought much about companions’ families lately.

No, I meant this guy, from the twin planet of Raxacoricofallapatorius (ep. Love & Monsters).

I don’t like any plastic or rubber aliens, whether it’s Doctot Who, Star Trek or Alien (I’m a sci-fi lover and I’ve never seen that movie, not because it was my decision not to watch it, but I’ve never been curious) unless they’re treat with humour. And that applies to both Slitheen and Clom (and the alien from the…[Read more]

Give my regards to your mum. I’m listening Prokofiev Piano Concert no 2 and think about her.

I miss our weekly discussions but at the same time I’ve reached the point in which I think there’s no point in discussing the last DW episides because Hell bent was a perfect ending and all I can say about it is “Well done, good job” and things like that. The Husbands of River Song wasn’t so perfect to me but it was another ending so it will not…[Read more]

Have I missed something again?! I don’t really think so. I had just different expectations. Maybe I shouldn’t have any but you know, you just can’t control that. Sometimes you want to watch something really cheerful, sometimes something more serious or melancholic. And this christmas special was the mix of these moods. I thought that at…[Read more]

My problem with Clara was that for two seasons I didn’t know who exactly she was or what was her status. In her first series she had been someone like a usual companion. A human girl who is Doctor’s assistant/friend/want to be a girlfriend. It was fine, but it didn’t work really well for me. In the next season she became…[Read more]

Yes, I thought about that. If we want to be so down-to-earth it will always ends with: time can be rewritten/not always time can be rewritten (sorry, Steven Moffat had bad mood this time); I’m the last one of my kind/ but guess what, I’m not (this season we have a bigger budget); I would create another paradox and…[Read more]

Yes, but River had this, I don’t know how to call it, a wanted list with every Doctor’s face in a chronological order. So she had to know roughly his timeline up there in the library.

  • Mersey replied to the topic The Husbands Of River Song

Of course, River couldn’t met any younger Doctor than 10. But if she knew all 13 Doctor’s faces how she could expected that they did Jim the Fish if she had already done that with 11 and she knew that 10 is his younger version?

  • Mersey replied to the topic The Husbands Of River Song

    @arbutus

I would expect that River as a part Time Lord should sense another Time Lord in her presence. I think it was 10 and at that point he was convinced that he’s the last of his kind, who said that if there where any living Time Lords he would sense them.

Oh, and River had also a picture of the War Doctor. How nice. Shame she hasn’t met the…[Read more]

Let’s say that’s not my kind of poetics. I remember River from the Big Bang, the Time of Angels and A Good Man Goes to War and I think I prefer her in a less festive mood (she was more like Mels than like River from the Library).

  • Mersey replied to the topic The Husbands Of River Song

My first thought after 20-30 minutes was ‘I would prefer an episode with a proper christmas message taking place on Earth’. But then this a bit rubbish in my opinion story about a big red robot finished and the christmas special came to conclusion. A marvelous and beautiful conclusion. And it’s really worth seeing only for these few minutes.…[Read more]

How nice to see that even here there are fans of pierogi. I’m going to do some tommorow with my Grandad. That’s probably the most famous slavic dish.

I want to thank you for the fantastic season and fascinating discussions. You are such great people. Happy Christmas to all from Poland.

I definitely agree with @puroandson Barthes? Derrida? Who else? Pierce and his concept of sign? My position is that Jenna Coleman was leaving the show so Clara had to do that either. One way or the other. They wanted to do that smoothly without grief and sense of guilt and without any impact on the future events. I think…[Read more]
