Hi @MysticalCowboy welcome to the site.
Doing the @ thing is automatic. Just type it as it is and the site will (or at least should) do the rest, and the person you are responding to will get an email saying they’ve been mentioned.
The one thing you have to be wary of is that some people change their username, and it only works with the name…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – I’m am going to watch the serials in a linear fashion, because it’s just easier that way for me. I’ll start with the first episode now, right after this post. Sorry, I keep saying I will watch it and then get distracted. Today it was AmazingPhil on Youtube (I have a fangirl crush on him…ahem). Anyway, I only saw one…[Read more]

Great call to cover this. Iβve written before that I grew up with tales of Quatermass and its impact from my Father. It was officially a βbig thingβ in the village he lived in. Miners who had TVs swapped shifts to watch it. One of the village pubs got sick of the empty night and bought a TV for the saloon bar (can you imagine a group of drink…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – Yes, that’s true, Daleks have not exterminated anyone in a long while in the new Who, however there’s always the worry that they might! Anyway, yes I will be starting with the seventh really soon and I’ll let you know what I think of him. π
As for the convention here, I did look it up… and I’m not sure if I want to go…[Read more]

@FaeGrl @MonochromeDimension @ScaryB
I attended my one and only DW convention back in the eighties. It was an eye opening event for me, as I previously had no idea that people costumed up for these events! The main guest was Colin Baker, and it was very shortly after he had been fired from DW. I remember him talking about this, and being…[Read more]

Lovin the talk of the Hairdryer of Rassilon – will that go with the Curling (Tongs) of Capaldi?!
<ducks>
@faeGrl You mentioned waaay upstream) about various Doctors having different musical talents. Does Eleven in Asylum not claim to be on the Carmen recording? (@Bluesqueakpip?) In fact…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – Oops, I’m sorry! I didn’t know the Sofa was only for Doctor Who related topics, I thought it was for general chat and for newbies to introduce themselves on. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have mentioned Minnesota and everything else here. I’m new still, please don’t exterminate me! *ducks*
Anyways, I have stopped in my Doctor Who…[Read more]

Um, um… I know! There’s a Doctor Who convention in Minneapolis this year!
Console Room, @FaeGrl, GOH Sophie Aldred and Victoria Watling.
I was in Dinkytown, btw, and it was one of the years when a tornado actually made a touchdown in the Metropolitan Area. How do I always manage to time these things? π

@Arbutus – Yes, Minnesotans are very nice and kind indeed! I’m sure there are some cranky and rude people here, like anywhere else in the world, but I have to honestly say that this is my first time in my life that I’ve met mostly nice people in one town. In Philadelphia, they rather spit on you than to smile and say hello. And the ones who do…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – Dalek was Robert Shearman. To date, his only episode for the TV series, though he’s done quite a few Big Finish plays.

Yes, the Radiophonic Workshop!
Quatermass is an SF/horror series, not straight horror, so they are more likely to be aliens.
I’ve heard that the bit with one of the creatures suddenly dropping down was originally an accident. It happened during rehearsal, and everyone jumped out of their skins. So they kept it in. π

He will most likely get a forum sooner or later for his serials.
:shudders:
Actually, it’s not invariably the admins who suggest the episode forums – I’ve suggested one or two. But when we were discussing the Sixth Doctor in the Faces of The Doctor thread, it became rather apparent that the vote for not watching a Sixth…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimensionΒ Β Doesn’t it just? I’m positive all of our style and beauty would be renowned throughout Time and Space with the power of the Hairdryer of Rassilon at our command!

@Bluesqueakpip, @MonochromeDimension
There were some similar jokes in one of the Eighth Doctor audios as I recall: the Doctor commenting sarcastically about the hair dryer of Rassilon, the hoover of Rassilon, etc. One could go on and on, the possibilities are endless.

@MonochromeDimension – not just the Fifth playing cricket. We also had the Smith Doctor in a football match. Yup, Capaldi for curling!
My favourite ‘of Rassilon’ joke was ‘the clockwork mouse of Rassilon’. It finally made it into a Virgin New Adventures novel by Paul Cornell, Happy Endings. The villain of the piece had stolen the Loom of…[Read more]

(Though I admit the connection is a bit ‘Six Degrees of Doctor Who’. Still, I confidently expect the Capaldi Doctor to display his stone-sliding prowess at some point during Series 8.)
