Over all very please with the 50th even though I was trying to watch it while my children were still up so I missed bit here and there. I will be doing a rewatch tonight for sure. I am excited about the posibilities but feel now more than ever that I may need to go back and watch some of the PG episodes. Any thoughts or advice on where to focus my attention in light of 50th?
4 June 2013 at 17:17 #11839“As long as they choose someone who can act AND cares about the role, that’s all I really care about.”
Hear, Hear. Totally agree. I always get a little stuck at a regeneration – it’s hard to say goodbye BUT that’s what wins me over with each new Doctor.
27 May 2013 at 18:45 #11145Ahhh Thanks @bluesqueakpip – went back and I really did hear it wrong…well that clears up the name thing then 🙂
Any thoughts about if the GI that captures them is a shard or the prime though? Does it matter to anyone but me? lol
27 May 2013 at 17:43 #11138Ok help. In a rewatch of TNotD I noticed this and couldn’t reconsile it. Sorry if its already been covered. (This is when the GI is talking to the friends and talking about how bloodsoaked the Doctors hands are (cybermen, daleks and a few others he mentions) Then he says the following.
GI says: “The Doctor lives his life in Darker hues, day upon day, and he will have our names before the end; Storm, The Beast, The Valeyard…”
?Storm? The Beast? are these names that the GI takes on (so he doesn’t die completely in the timestreams?) He’s been doing some timetraveling too and I wonder if this GI is not GI prime but a GI confetti?
26 May 2013 at 06:44 #10962I don’t know if it counts as pub talk but I just watched the new star trek movie. Holy smokes it was fantastic. Tons of action and if I am not mistaken our friend ‘Mickey’ made an appearance…although I will have to double check that 🙂
25 May 2013 at 00:17 #10811yes absolutely my bad @bluesqueakpip all credit to you for discovering the Doctors true name 🙂

” alt=”For the Forum” />@Shazzbot I made this one just in case it ends up being the Doctors name… 🙂

After all the name talk I found this image and just had to share…made me giggle24 May 2013 at 21:21 #10757@craig i am having a moment here….found a great pic that I wanted to share over on TNotD thread but can’t seem to figure out how to post it… help?
24 May 2013 at 21:13 #10754“River extracted the goodbye she wanted from the Doctor in TNotD. If it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for me.
“That is such a good way of looking at it….that might help to keep in mind for when I rewatch 🙂
24 May 2013 at 18:45 #10734oops didnt see how to delete a double entry so I just changed it lol
24 May 2013 at 18:45 #10733@lula I sure hope so – although I don’t have any supporting evidence or theories as to why or how she could/would. I was not a fan of River Song until a season or so ago…I think it was after the Lets Kill Hitler episode that I started really caring about her as a character and now since TNotD I had a little cry! I felt as thought she would come back somehow from the library and when she did – sort of – I was so thrilled only to have to say goodbye seemingly for good moments later
**sudden urge to start making cookies and drown my sorrows by eating them all**
@Shazzbot – I hold out a sliver of hope just because it hurts too much to say goodbye forever…nothing totally impossible in the whoniverse right?!
24 May 2013 at 18:08 #10723@budinacup Fair enough. I can see your point with 10 not sure if I am swayed but good thought.
@craig – I agree with the idea of polls – It would be really fun to see where people sit on some of these big plot ideas any chance that we could get one up and running?
**she asks with much humilty and offers virtual cookies as a bribe**
24 May 2013 at 17:43 #10716@bluesqueakpip – (I think it was you who wrote this but it so to scroll up lol) first off this was a while back but I did want to say this is my favourite interpretation thus far of this phrophecy
The man who lies will lie no more
When this man lies at Trenzalore. If that’s another prophecy, are we talking about the Doctor’s death? Or we talking about a situation where – once the Doctor tells a lie at Trenzalore – it’s his final lie. He’s run out of lies; only the truth is left to him.
On a separate note – With this ‘ 13th Doctor reset’ theory’ are we talking like a Star Trek type parallel universe reset where it all branches off and all things are possible OR is is more a ‘we’ve explained the inconsistencies away’ sort of reset where we can put it all behind us and move on with the Doctor Bluntwin Hootwhistle?
btw I agree with @bluesqueakpip about the name never being revealed…just like we never heard 10 say the words ‘I love you’ I think it will always remain just out of reach. We may come to know and understand the full meaning and importance of his name but we won’t ever know what it is…
22 May 2013 at 22:34 #10411“In the Dr’s defence River took the decision out of his hands (well his mouth), the Dr wouldn’t have let his friends die, having gone all the way to Trenzalore (the one place he should never ever go) to rescue them.”
I agree that the Doctor would not have let anyone die but do you think it was amiss of River to open the door for him? I saw it as a kindness on her part – sparing him from having to say his name aloud. A name that He has kept a guarded secret even among his closest companions.
Good thoughts on the prophecy though – at first watch I thought that was that and now that can of worms is open again
22 May 2013 at 18:31 #10379@htpbdet Wow – thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us!! I discovered Who eight months ago*** and then promptly and completely immersed myself in all things Who. lol Although I am all NuWho, so these insights into the past Doctors and companions are very interesting and informative. I appreciate how accesible you make it all through your writing style – just wonderful 🙂
Sorry if the following is off thread but I felt it need sayin….
[*** Eight months ago!! Really. I didn’t even know Doctor Who existed. I question the validity of the CBC for depriving us here in Canada of Doctor Who but finding time for other BBC programing (Masterpiece Theatre anyone? No disrespect intended but I would have prefered Doctor Who 🙂 Even stranger is that I spent a year living just south of London…A year! Still no Who in my life…although to be fair it was prior to the NuWho and its resurgence in popularity. Still. Thank goodness for Merlin which got me exploring BBC programing and subsequently leading me to Who]
22 May 2013 at 07:26 #10321@scaryb – first off thanks for the hello and tips and advise 🙂 I finally feel like I landed in the deep end of the swiming pool and I am loving it!! lol
Also I have to say I am leaning toward and hoping that the Hurt Doctor fits in the 8/9 split….leaves it open to some great story telling without messing with my heart too much (HA! ya right….I know thats wishful thinking and I will probably be blubering away at the 50th as per normal)
The idea of the Hurt doctor as 12 makes me slightly naucious. I am such a wimp when it comes to the changing of the guard, erm I mean Doctor. When we lost 9 I cried and was determined not to love 10 the same way….well of course then I loved 10 but when he had to go, 11 would not do at all….and here we are again at the precipice and I am worried and may lose sleep…Novermber can’t come fast enough (which is saying something because I am Canadian which means I am wishing away my few months of nice weather!!! lol)
Oh and @bluesqueakpip your my hero for this paraphrase
They might as well have said: “Can anyone here who isn’t dead please put their hand up?”
HAHA!! awesome. love it.
Well off to bed here – have a good day over there and I’ll check in for more fantastic theories soon 🙂
21 May 2013 at 22:05 #10269Thanks for clairifying that for me! And for the very nice welcome @whisht @juniperfish @jimthefish and @Shazzbot
:))
21 May 2013 at 21:41 #10255Agh! I love it all.
First off @phileasf I got a really good chuckle from this
‘River seemed a little harsh when she warned Clara that her splinters would only be copies. Pot. Kettle.’
And I am assuming some one can clear this up for me….
Having never watched the original Doctor Who (yet) I am wondering if we have ever heard of Trinsalor before this? Is it only known (now) for being the grave site of the Doctor or did it have a place or roll that was previously revealed??
21 May 2013 at 21:00 #10241Hello all
I’m new – finally took the leap from browsing around (being snoopy?? lol) to joining all you fine folks. I have the distinction of being the ONLY Doctor Who fan in my hometown (I am working on making converts…) so especially after an episode like this last one I go a little crazy because I just want to talk about it and hear what others think!
Glad to have found you 🙂
