I have been waiting for this for a long time. I will confess to something almost heretical on this board: I think I am looking forward to this even more than to the 50th.

Or is it because there’s more chance of getting a reference to the Kennedy assassination in this programme? Unfortunately I don’t have a particular pet theory in terms of the 50th, only hopes for as many Doctors squeezed into the episode as possible.

No, the real reason is that it will allow me to revisit the 11 year old Blenkinsop who watched “An Unearthly Child”. That, and the fact that I am a hopelessly unreconstructed romantic.

My – aren’t the BBC spoiling us today. I saw the trailer after immediately watching the Brian Cox prog, and it’s looking really good.
After today, with the minisode, the Science special and this trailer it feels like we are entering the celebration period proper. Good stuff!

Briliant! Now that I have stepped down from the onerous responsibilities of President, i have more time to prepare the blenkinsop abode for the screening.
So far, this means using lots of cardboard, paint and spirit gum (Blue Peter style) to create a facsimile of a 1963 TV set to cover most of the 42 inch TV set that it will be watched on.
Edible treats to accompany the screening are still under consideration.
Suitable clothing (tight jeans, pointy shoes and…a cardigan) are being retrieved from the dark recesses of the wardrobe.
