@phaseshift & @Shazzbot – ‘Would ye look at the size o’ that, Doctor!’
13 July 2013 at 16:41 #13774The TARDIS has been sighted at (Gulliver’s Land) Milton Keynes this weekend…..

13 July 2013 at 18:36 #13782I’ll just post a reminder for the Doctor Who Prom on Radio 3 at 7:30pm. It is being recorded for broadcast in the future on BBC One (TBA) but that will be a cut down version. If you are in the UK a radio, a freeview box (Channel 703) or the internet link to live channel
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_three
is Available. That last option works in many outside UK territories (If not Google may reveal some legitimate internet radio broadcast hosts for your area).

14 July 2013 at 16:04 #13875Somewhat inevitably the BBC are holding the televised footage from the Prom back for a showing around the anniversary itself.

There is also a pretty sneery review on the Guardian (of the music, if not the event).
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/jul/14/doctor-who-prom-review
14 July 2013 at 16:17 #13877@phaseshift – I’m not sure that particular reviewer has a ‘non-sneering’ mode – even when he likes stuff.
Though I imagine having one’s parents think ‘John’ is a good name to go with the surname ‘Lewis’ is one of those unfortunate starts in life. Leading to early and extensive practice of the art of the sarcastic retort.

15 July 2013 at 10:47 #13888@wolfweed That’s a rather unimpressive image for the Series 7 boxset isn’t it. Especially after all the great movie posters we got for each episode. It must have taken all of 5 mins in photoshop.
It’s also slightly strange how they are all in “furrowed-brow” mode. Maybe that’s a clue, the next Doctor is Gordon Ramsay! 😀

Due in the Autumn…
16 July 2013 at 19:58 #13926Thanks for the Heathrow link @wolfweed , looks fun
Is that from now till November? I couldn’t see how long it’s supposed to last – just says “in the run up to”
Liked Moffat’s quote –
Steven Moffat added: “We are delighted to announce another extension to Heathrow’s world-beating facilities – all of space and time in a stylish blue box, complete with phone. Heathrow with time travel – nobody need ever be late again.”
Except if you’re trying to get there from Scotland, haha
16 July 2013 at 20:10 #13927@scaryb – It says something about a week, starting today…
In other news, The Dr Who Prom will feature on Blue Peter this coming Thursday.

17 July 2013 at 06:54 #13933Hi there. I was surprised you didn’t mention the two other Who links on the page (Steven Moffat referring to the anniversary episode as “movie” length and Murray Gold referring to a possible controversial plot twist). I hadn’t seen either mentioned before (although I’m generally the last person to see this sort of stuff – apologies if its already been posted here).
Thanks
Nick
17 July 2013 at 08:08 #13934@nick Well spotted
re the 50th – “movie length” but he’s not committing to exactly how long that is, LOL. Movie length is good though 🙂 Controversial plot twist – not altogether unexpected, could be a small(ish) thing… or something major?
@wolfweed You’re right, re Heathrow – article says it’s on for a week.

17 July 2013 at 14:05 #13946I followed a couple (including we cant do 11 doctors’ in the anniversary show, but I didn’t think there was anything new there). I didn’t see the two you highlighted though. The first one is for the spoiler thread I think ?
Thanks
Nick

@MadScientist72 – I moved your post to the Spoilers thread because it was about a DigitalSpy article.
We have a policy that it’s ‘news’ if it’s on the BBC site or the Radio Times site; other sources count as spoilers. I know it sounds odd (especially since that DS article was published quite a while ago), but we have lots of people on this site who don’t want even the merest whiff of a spoiler and are happy to wait for official BBC confirmation.

I guess I can see where that might be considered a spoiler, although it could just be a smokescreen. Apparently the forum gods agree with you, since they’ve already sent River Song to move it over to the blue book.
17 July 2013 at 14:24 #13952Anonymous @
@Shazzbot – Got it.
Apparently, I was writing the River Song comment while you were explaining the comment move, so I didn’t see it until after I posted. As a moderator, I was considering you as one of the “forum gods”.
17 July 2013 at 14:53 #13954Its not something that bothers me especially, but I fully understand why some people want to have as much of a surprise as possible when they watch.
I have yet to read a spoiler that is completely spot on to eliminate any surprise at all. Mind you, I read about series 7b here or on the Guardian before I watched any of it without spoiling the pleasure (actually enhanced the experience is some ways as I looked out for the bits that people talked about that had some significance).

Last survivor of Galli-Fry…
18 July 2013 at 11:14 #13996My partneer thinks the Mr Potato head is brilliant. I threatened to buy him one for Christmas. He changed him mind rather quickly. Now that is taking merchandising just a tad too far imho.
Thanks for the amusing pics, @wolfweed
Cheers
Janette
18 July 2013 at 12:07 #13998LOL Mr @janetteb (and good answer from you). Bandwagon jumping, much, methinks 🙂
@wolfweed – up to your usual high standards (Last survivor of Galli-Fry… indeed! (Had its chips I reckon)) 😆
Anyone wanting to buy Matt Smitth’s first car better have pockets that are bigger on the inside! Bids now over £6,000 – not bad for a 12yo Corsa. (All proceeds to charity as the Dr obv has no truck with money 😉 )
18 July 2013 at 15:39 #14014Here’s a sample of the show from post #13993. Matthew Wright turned his back on Who before series 6. Twat.

18 July 2013 at 21:05 #14024@wolfweed – I am assuming they have a Mr Potato Head for Strax?
and if not, why not???!???!??!!!!?

I am assuming they have a Mr Potato Head for Strax?
Of course the do. The call it the original Mr. Potato Head! 😛
18 July 2013 at 22:54 #14034doh! @MadScientist72 – arghh you’re right – the cheapest tie-in imaginable!!
Though I’m sure if there was a Mr Potato Head with accompanying Rheon Carbine then it would be available from discerning BBC outlets which only have the most impressive gifts for the discerning Whovian.
No cheap tie-ins and only quality stock – quick, order now before the stampede begins in November!

20 July 2013 at 00:49 #14173Matthew Wright turned his back on Who before series 6. Twat.
To be fair, I can imagine Matthew being a bit confused by series 5. In fact, I can easily imagine Matthew being confused when tying his own shoelaces, or when debating with himself which is the right way up to sit on a lavatory.
Still, “Time for Doctor Who to take a rest?” asks commercial competitor really isn’t a debate that will trouble the BBC is it?
Loving the TAR-DRESS that Jenny is wearing though.

21 July 2013 at 17:12 #14237I feel I can mention this, unlike when I found out that Matt had had his shaved off…
21 July 2013 at 18:39 #14238SEE ,cant John hurt doctor and matt smith doctor be same??as matt smith mentioned in an interview, that some thing or a clue is there in amy’s last episode which is the angels one.so if the doctor blinked once then john hurt doctor can be his old incarnation.!!

thanks for posting those links. Very interesting. I half-expected there to be a such ‘new Doctor’ announcement but no such luck.
Now I’d really like to see that trailer now please….. I imagine it won’t be too late before it hits the interwebs…
22 July 2013 at 00:15 #1425022 July 2013 at 00:49 #1425122 July 2013 at 00:51 #1425222 July 2013 at 04:24 #14253@Thanks for the pics @wolfweed. I get the impression that those Daleks might be on Gallifrey. That looks like Gallifreyan script on the disk behind the Dalek in that last image. I like the use of sepia toning. I wonder if it’s supposed to imply that these events have happening in the past, rather an amusing concept in Dr Who when everything is happening in the past in a sense. Sepia for the Doctor’s past, red/blue for his present? I wasn’t suprised to hear the news re’ Daleks returning for the 50th though I guess it reallyconfirms that it is going to be set during the time war but I am certain that Moffat will do something unexpected. He usually manages to surprise us.
Cheers
Janette
