    @Brewski

    Why was the Doctor so keen to keep Clara out of this adventure?

    Good spot. Last time he was this keen, it was the Ganger adventure. He was keen to keep Amy and Rory out of it because Amy-in-the-TARDIS was (unknowingly) a ganger.

    Now for my replies…

    @idiotsavon congrats on the “Don’t Think” prediction. It seems like we are being asked to go against our human nature a lot this series.

    @bluesqueakpip Was the teleport really the same effect as Gretchen’s? I didn’t recognise it as such. Are you saying that from memory or did you go back and double check!?

    @ScaryB – Doctor…[Read more]

    @wcasey5 @brewski I don’t think that they’re descendant, Danny looks very upset when Clara told him that name, and hide the facts that he went to the past to met Rupert. + If they’re descendant it doesn’t makes sense, as Clara didn’t really have any connection toward Rupert, only Danny has the connection being his grand children. Right?

  • wcasey5 replied to the topic Listen

    @brewski I was thinking the same thing. What if Danny and Rupert are descendants of Orson, not the other way around? Although I am partial that Rupert, Orson, and Danny are the same people, just changing their names. Maybe from different times, it may go rupert-orson-danny and they are just time displaced. Remember, fear can slow down time!…[Read more]

    @bluesqueakpip    I love the idea that the chalkboard is for him to work out those calculations for his appearance in DotD. I wonder if, at some point, he will just stop doing it, and then we will know it has been done!

    @PhileasF   Great spot on the extra chair/Rupert/Orson bit. And those are some very powerful childhood fears. Mine (as I thin…[Read more]

    Right just caught up as of the time I started to write this all the comments, though I am sure more may be added whilst I write.

    @scaryB and @Brewski and others I agree orson does not necessarily have to be directly related to Clara though this may be an option I think it more probable he is a direct descendent to Danny who has been a companion…[Read more]

    Like @handles, I think that it is possible that Missy could be neither evil nor good. Deluded or misguided possibly, or simply crazy as has been suggested before. I also agree that when she tells the cyborg “You’re in the Promised Land,” it’s clearly not the place he was trying to reach. (I do like the notion that Gallifrey could be connected…[Read more]

    Hello @Brewski

    I’m sticking with the fact that Arcadia is a Greek name for Utopia = Arcadia

    … And Im sticking with my theory that the antibodies in Into The Dalek looked and moved an awful lot like the Toklafane in the John Simm Master trilogy (first part of which was called Utopia).

    Moffat is playing a lot of cards shown in many previous DW s…[Read more]

    Hello @Brewski

    All this talk of nit-picking is making me feel slightly better for being a bit OCD about the open-naw-now-its-shut-nope-now-its-open Tardis door business at the beginning of Robot of Sherwood.

    Unlike @Mudlark, I cannot promise to refrain from picking at such nits in future, sadly.  Im the perennial Sees The Trees But Misses The…[Read more]

    @brewski  Did you really think that, because a momentary rift in the spacetime continuum of the unreal universe allowed a sliver of boring mundanity to slip in, I hated the whole episode?  Please say it ain’t so!   Offhand I can’t recall a single episode, BG or AG, that I hated in its entirety and I almost always find something positive to like…[Read more]

    I get the impression that I may have come across as a trifle blue/gold boringers in my first post 🙁   if so, my apologies, it was not my intention. @handles @brewski @purofilion  I certainly did not mean to make a big deal of the golden arrow. Where Doctor Who is concerned I am and always have been perfectly prepared and able to believe any numb…[Read more]

    @Brewski  Don’t get me wrong!  As a kid and even a teenager, (and even a tiny bit now), I would get hugely attached to characters that I liked in anything I watched.  I remember watching Star Trek and being impatient for the episodes that featured my favourite characters more than others, and though my experience with Doctor Who growing up was di…[Read more]

    Thoughts after second viewing.

    I loved the humour in this. I think a lot of the dislike is down to people simply wanting a “serious” episode and this was not that. You could see the direction things were heading from Robin’s first appearance, with the little wink he gave the doctor just before the opening theme. Unlike some viewers, I never felt…[Read more]

    @Brewski   Whilst I don’t begrudge them their version of fandom and I do realise that the show is lucky to have attracted the huge numbers it has, we do seem to have a new generation of fans who are expecting things of the show that they would find in others.  I am hugely, hugely tired of reading comments about which character should come back a…[Read more]

    @Brewski   Re: Clara knowing about the Doctor’s life on Gallifrey: One thought is that the Doctor could easily have made a random remark at some point that might have allowed Clara to guess that he came from a privileged background. • Bluesqueakpip replied to the topic Robot of Sherwood

    @Brewski – while it’s not technically the Doctor, the Master in The End of Time mentions (well, yells) that his own father had estates. The Lord President also refers to the Doctor as ‘Lord Doctor’.

    Since there’s also a brother mentioned (in the Third Doctor’s era), I think we can presume that the Master was the heir for his family – whereas the…[Read more]

    @brewski

    We (as an audience) have not, to my knowledge, been privy to the Doctor’s status in life on Galifrey. If Clara can tell Robin about him being “a man born into wealth and privilege” then she really knows more about him than we do. I wonder how much more about his past she knows.
