Good to hear from you!
Absolutely agree with the idea that many young ones aren’t as attached to social media as many others assume.
Just from our perspective only, The Son and many of his mates have virtually no socials with most working 2 jobs & at university/college. There is less time, less disposable income and as @JanetteB m…[Read more]

@Brewski Hi. RTD is running with the calendar names isn’t he? Tuesday in Boom. I wonder if that signifies anything or is just because he really doesn’t like picking names for characters.
1963 is also featured so a Sunday in September 1963 maybe? The first episode began on a schoolday but I don’t think it is ever stated which day of the week it…[Read more]

Bringing my Susan/Flood musings from the Boom pages, to get things in their proper place.
Not sure about Mrs Flood (…) but I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up just being an indomitable elderly side character a la Wilf. (Unless, of course, she is the series 1 main villain — in which case, she might be Bad Wilf. Arf.…[Read more]

@bunface – hmmm your avatar has recalled Stooky Sue from The Giggle for me, in relation to all three of your speculations about the return of the Doctor’s granddaughter.
Stooky Sue = Susan foreshadowing?
Stooky Sue had three Stooky babbies – so it seems the Doctor’s progeny is definitely a thread to pull on.

Oh, I remember reading your flights of fancy now! All the better for their ‘wrongness’, right? 👍 Apologies, I don’t retain anything beyond the next adventure (other than some odd detail that probably means nothing and the general mood), so I’m going to study Flood and ponder.
Also have difficulty with more than one conversation at a…[Read more]

Yes, I guess CAF would be the obv choice for an older Susan, although at time of casting/planning it may not have been so clearcut or possible? It’s sometimes hard to keep a glove on the real life shenanigans and timeframes, always remembering it’s a fabrication we’re dealing with! Ahem.
I don’t think Susan Twist is Susan…[Read more]

“The One Who Waits” is Susan.
Anything is possible, and in a recent Radio Times piece Carol Ann Ford was reported as saying that if the call came for her return she would be up for it, but even if the references to her so far do herald her reappearance, I doubt that it will have such a weighty significance.
In the conte…[Read more]

I’m going on record as saying “The One Who Waits” is Susan. (“One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back.”) When, old man, when?!!
I’m going to agree. All kinds of twisted things could have happened…
I’m also going to suggest that Mrs. Flood is Susan, not least for the very superficial reason that Anita Dobson looks just l…[Read more]

… no footprints in the snow…? Legolas? Maybe Galadriel… it was an episode with goblins!
Or just bad CGI!
Mrs Flood? Still haven’t given up on River post spacesuit girl, and pre Mel. Maybe Captain Jack rocks up with vortex manipulator and sends her back to Amy’s timeline.
Clearly the no DNA match for Ruby is a big deal. Elf you recko…[Read more]

Welcome back! Very interesting idea about Mrs Flood. It does answer many of the questions I had about her seemingly contradictory behaviour. But her change of feeling regarding her neighbour from the beginning of the episode to the end still still seems a bit puzzling.
I tend to agree with you about the goblin musical number. Am willing…[Read more]

@Brewski and @dentarthurdent The Dr Who movies are British. IT was a thing the Brits did back then, make movies of popular tv series, usually just an extended episode. They were cheap to make and I guess had a guaranteed audience. I don’t think Kate’s comment was a reference to the Dr Who movies, nice though that would be, but to Hollywood movies…[Read more]

@brewski I’ve never had a real problem with the concept of the Timeless Child and it being the Doctor just it’s clumsy implementation by Chibnal. Let’s be honest those of us who were around pre-gap era especially during the McCoyDoc era there were given hints that the Doctor was possibly something other than just a Timelord (yes, yes I know I’m r…[Read more]

Actually, as I think about it, I suppose that could be a resolution to Yaz’s story–i.e. the Doctor discovers her reality, while Yaz either goes off to explore the universe in her reality or returns to Earth (again, her reality), hopefully with the memories of her adventures with the Doctor intact.
However, in my reality, it is time for…[Read more]

Yes, agree with everything you say. And it would be great if it works out.
But…how does one account for Yaz? If the Doctor is the real Doctor, is Yaz part of the alternate reality of the last three years? If the Doctor finds her reality, will Yaz have to disappear?

Bonkers, yes, but in the best possible way 🙂 An alternative reality as the context of so much that has happened in recent Doctor Who episodes would suit me all too well, and would be a very happy solution to some of the questions raised by Chibnall’s clumsy attempt to set a permanent stamp on the show.
It’s not that I have any…[Read more]

Now that is a bonkers theory. I like it!
I particularly like the idea that the Doctor is the real Doctor, but everything we have seen over the last three years has taken place in an alternate reality. Back then, I always felt that the whole Timeless Children story was an invention of that unreliable narrator, the Master. In your…[Read more]
