@MonochromeDimension – “Topic Dalek”! It’s funny, because I’m just in the middle of The Daleks serials with the First Doctor, early AM here. I just finished the episode, “The Survivors” and taking a short break before I find out what happens next. 🙂
I’m in awe of the dedication fans have for the show and it never cease to amaze me. It’s a good…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension –Â Yes, I did get the feeling that we were going a bit off topic there. I often go off in a tangent, especially about subjects I love so much. Aw, that’s so sad… I know the same thing happened to one of my favorite comedy shows, “Monty Python Flying Circus”… I have to wonder what the BBC was thinking in junking such great…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – Yes! I suspect that I’ll have a handful of favorites, by the time I get done watching all of the Doctor Who episodes. Although, I hear that the BBC lost many of the episodes and they’re lost? I’m sorry for that, but I retain my goal to watch every episode that I can find. 🙂
Ha! Yes, maybe a cravat would do! I’m looking…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – This is why I love Doctor Who so much, because it has so many serials, Doctors, and companions to get to know and love… or not love so much. I have plenty to learn and experience within the long history of Who and I can’t help but to feel excited like a little girl over that fact! It feels like Christmas!
Don’t worry, I’m…[Read more]

@Arbutus  – I completely agree! I think the Fourth Doctor had the best balance of menacing and whimsy. I’m not sure, but I think the first episode that Tom Baker appeared in, he punched out a human in order to escape containment and wonder around a military base to find its secret project? It was a long time since I saw that episode, so I…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – Yes, I so do need to watch them! And I don’t mind black and white serials at all. I do have some time to spend this weekend (aka: I have no real social life! lol), so I may just plant myself in front of the laptop screen and spend some hours with Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee. That is if I don’t get distracted and lured…[Read more]

Thanks for the episode guide it at least is a starting point and a great one at that. I’m so excited to get into this series!

mentioning missing serials just makes me annoyed they’re still missing… I want more 60s Doctor Who to be found! lol
Ah, be patient little one, and one day they will come back, yes, one day… hmm! No-one expected 2 complete Troughton stories to resurface, after all (and they did a great job on the restoration). But t…[Read more]

@monochromedimension (nice new avatar btw)
I agree with @Whisht @FatManInABox – given what you’ve said about liking the early Dr Who stories, you should give Quatermass a shot. There have been lots of different versions, most them fairly average as I remember. But this is the series that earned it its formidable reputation. Andre Morrell who…[Read more]

@monochromedimension – I’m not sure how this Quatermass compares to the movie you saw, but I’d love to hear your views on it.
Why? Well, you love the b&w Who, and (yet?) you grew up with sparkly technicolour TV with lots of money/ sets/ costumes/ rehearsals/ pre-recording etc (even more so than a slightly older me!).
So it’d be interesting to…[Read more]

@Barnable @MonochromeDimension    I must say that, while I also hope for a change in energy from the new doctor, a little more gravitas, I can’t imagine the Doctor ever avoiding trouble or objecting to interfering in other people’s issues. Even the First and Third, the most serious of the incarnations, never hesitated to jump right into thi…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension – We’re partway through Quatermass and the Pit.
Yes, yes, I know it isn’t Doctor Who. But it’s both one of the precursors to Doctor Who and a marvellous slice of television history.
Personally, I’ve just made the mistake of nipping ahead to Episode 4. A mistake because I watched it on my own, at night, with a storm outside.…[Read more]

I never saw the McGann movie at all when it first came out. I assumed it would be awful. I did see it later, and enjoyed McGann and McCoy but didn’t care for much else about it. I revisited it after being introduced to the Eighth Doctor on audio, and was fascinated at how similar and yet how different the characterizations…[Read more]

You’re right that this is a better place for chatting about different doctors, so I have replied over here. Seven was probably my second favourite of the BG doctors (although it depends on what I’ve been watching!). I love how he would clown his way into situations and then simply take command. As with the Fourth Doctor, he…[Read more]

@MonochromeDimension    But I do like to make clear I like all the Doctors.
Yes, I know what you mean. I too can find something to love in every doctor. Every single incarnation always had a few of the doctor’s essential characteristics, which I believe are these: a strong morality, an appreciation of beauty and simple pleasures, natural cou…[Read more]

@FiveRoundsRapid @monochromedimension
Thanks for the additional suggestions. I hope @monochromedimension was being mischievous with Trial of a TimeLord. Over 3 months of THE Colin Baker week-by-week would possibly be considered an endurance test by some, including me. 😉

@Oswald – welcome! Catching up in a months impressive stuff – ta takes some dedication! I’m fond of Matt’s Doctor – impossible not to be really -but I’m properly excited to see what Peter Capaldi can do.

My favourite Hartnell’s are The Keys of Marinus and The Dalek Invasion of Earth.
My favourite Doctor would probably be either Tom Baker or Jon Pertwee, although I think that Peter Capaldi might end up eclipsing them when series 8 starts.
