@Timeloop – function of the Paternoster Gang. I think they’ve replaced 1970’s/1980’s UNIT as ‘home’.
The 21st Century may be Clara’s home, but the Doctor’s current ‘home’ time zone is Victorian England and the Paternoster Gang. Like the poem by Robert Frost, it’s his: ‘Home is the place where, when you have to go there, / They have to take you…[Read more]

ooh @Timeloop – apologies you misunderstood me (that’ll be my convoluted writing!).
I absolutely think there can (and probably will) be a female Doctor – I’m assuming that the show-runner is waiting for the right actress to come along and ‘be’ the Doctor in the audition.
Basically (I think the term is ‘blind’ auditions) they should hire whoever…[Read more] -

Lol @Timeloop that made me laugh, you are so right. I loved 9 and 10 (and classic 3,4,5) 11 just never grabbed me. I’m so looking forward to getting onboard again with 12. ‘Though I think I’m going to need an essential potted history of 11 as some of this is going over my head.

@Timeloop I think the Doctor persuaded the droid to jump which is really no different to pushing him but I prefer never to know. I like the ambiguity of that just as we will never really be certain that the Doctor planned to return and save Clara when the door shut. I like your point about a new villian but I suspect that Missy is the Master. We…[Read more]

As @Timeloop says: ‘Telephone number and advert, both being pointed out to us very deliberately. Clearly this is what they want us to theorize about.’ And I agree with @Barnable that I’m so glad we’re going to learn about the woman in the shop. For me that was one of the last hanging threads from the previous series, and am very glad they’re not…[Read more]

Don’t sit on the fence, @smeglennon!
@Timeloop – yes, the balloon is made of skin (yuk!)
Got the Two-Stream facility post from @MiraShareif on twitter (probably just a re-used location).

@Timeloop Walloped – http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/wallop
Clara wonders who Amy is when the Dr mentions her, grumbling about the sonic rolling on the floor.
‘Skin’ is a good bit because it’s not what you expect to power a spaceship…
Jenny and Strax at the screening…

Oooo! Heaven looks a bit…[Read more]

Just back from the cinema. Nearly full but not quite. I got the best seat in the house.
It looked unbelievable on the big screen.
Expect a cinema prequel to be uploaded sometime soon. Very funny.
As for the actual episode…
Biggest laugh there was Clara getting walloped by the newspaper.
Nice to see Brian Miller as the tramp. The scene…[Read more]

@Timeloop – I’m going to watch Deep Breath in the cinema. Today I’ve been updating my blog on Loncon3 (World Science Fiction Convention).
In the best tradition of ‘What I did on my holidays’, I’ve added some pictures and details of Days Three, Four and Five. @Wolfweed – some of the pictures may be candidates for Crazy Captions. 😉 Feel free.

@Timeloop Regarding leaving Christmas, the 12th Doctor’s first words were, after the kidneys thing:
We’re probably crashing.
Do you happen to know how to fly this thing? So I’d always assumed they’d left Christmas already.

Doctor Who: Will there ever be a female Doctor?Polishing my sonic for the cinema tomorrow…

As for Trenzalore, The Crack was offski, so the planet was a threat no longer and should have been safe thereafter…

@Timeloop As a Who fan in a non-Who household, my celebration is largely an inner one. I am a bit in awe of @JanetteB and all the others who plan Doctor Who menus and other festivities. However, I too have rewatched the last few Matt episodes recently, and have spent more time on this forum than I have all summer! Here in Canada, my viewing me…[Read more]

@Timeloop nice to have you back. In the last few days we have rewatched the last few stories. tomorrow we shop, as usual, go to the pub and then maybe watch some more BG Who over dinner tomorrow night. On Sunday, when we get to see the new episode in Oz, the two elder boys have leave until 4.00pm by which time I hope the chips will be hot, the…[Read more]

How will the Doctor be able to leave Christmas now?
I suspect it’s going to be as simple as the Timelords saying ‘Sod this for a game of soldiers, we’re off to find another crack’.

Hello all!
Turning up like @timeloop just in time for the new series (been lurking for a bit as I’ve been a bit busy).
I’ve got my cinema ticket for Saturday (although I’m not sure how busy the cinema will be, when I booked this week, the seat allocation diagram was looking mighty sparse) and even forced myself to watch the One Show for…[Read more]

Welcome back! I was thinking about you the other day along with a few others who’ve been quiet recently. I was wondering if you were going to join us for the next season. I’m very glad you could make it!
I try to be cool about these things, but I find myself getting very excited despite myself. It’s been a long time coming, but not…[Read more]

Brilliant parallel between the writing on this forum and literary criticism. In any kind of mythology, a writer doesn’t have to even try to create layers of meaning. Readers can find them all by themselves! As we do here with Doctor Who. Good writers, well-read themselves, call upon pre-existing tropes and ideas without…[Read more]

@Timeloop – ah, thank you. i thought he was saying “that’s how i got HER in the first place.” meaning the tardis, yes, but with a different stress. there were a couple of other bits of dialogue that it took me some effort to decipher (as usual). and i’m going to avoid spoilers in the future, as well. the tasha-as-dalek pic gave away way too much…[Read more]
