@ichabod     I hope your surgery and recovery are as quick and painless as possible. We will certainly miss you here and I look forward to reading your great posts when you come back.

@thedentistofdavros    Not many people like the Doctor Who movie so you needn’t be sorry. Paul McGann does have a short prequel to the Day of the Doctor that you can watch on youtube. I think it is called The Night of the Doctor. You might like him in that. He’s very good.

I am still contemplating my list of favourites. It is a difficult task.

This episode will always be one that is painful for me to watch because of the scene in the diner. When Clara looks into the Doctors eyes and understands that he truly does not know her , she turns away from him with tears in her eyes and has to compose herself. I think (from personal experience ) that she does it to protect him , so he doesn’t…[Read more]

@jimthefish    Oh yes , Sally Hawkins would make a great Doctor. A kind and compassionate one I would think.

The grandkid  was a lttle too good at the “hard stare” we had to make her stop. She really liked the movie.

Today I watched a very sweet movie called Cuban Fury. Two of the stars were Nick Frost and Olivia Colman , well known to us in Whoville.  The movie was made in 2014 and is the story of a Salsa dancer (Nick Frost) who comes to back to the dance after years of absence. If you like underdog stories or Salsa music and dancing this movie is for you.…[Read more]

@jimthefish      We got Paddington when my 7 year old grandaughter was here and we all enjoyed it. Peter was very funny. A few tears were shed here as I love a happy ending.  My grandaughter did the “hard stare” at anyone she thought was rude for weeks after we watched it.

@pedant            I agree about Martha being the rebound girl. Many people enter a new relationship far too soon and it rarely ends well. On the other hand Martha is a strong indepedant young women with  plans on being a doctor. She doesn’t run away from her old life when she goes with the Doctor, rather she runs towards adventure and new experie…[Read more]

@moondragon007     If you want to address a certain person then you just put the @ and the name under that persons avatar. I hope that helps or someone else may explain it better.

@moondragon007    and   @thedentistofdavros    Welcome to you both!  I hope you will it here.

I lurked for months before I finally joined and made my first post and it was pretty scary but the people here are kind and polite so I had no problems. It has been fun to talk to like minded people about Doctor Who, a show we all love. So have fun , po…[Read more]

@mersey      I have also wondered about poor old Brian. He was a favourite of mine and I hope he knew about River at least. What about Amy’s Mum and Dad ? She just got them back.I guess Clara can stop in at any time to see her Dad and maybe even her Mum.

If the companions have a family then we will always be left with those  questions about wh…[Read more]

@ichabod    Sorry ,  I spelled your name wrong above.  I am screaming at my own lack of proof reading.

  • winston replied to the topic 42

I just finished a rewatch of 42 and I enjoyed it more this time despite all the “screaming” @ichibod. Boy they really did scream alot. Besides that ,this episode was all about Martha and her place on the Tardis and in the Doctor’s life. Poor Martha is so transparent, she wears her emotions on her face and can’t hide her growing love for the…[Read more]

@ichabod  I agree about the difficulties of pleasing such a wide age range of viewers.  The younger Who fans I know are young adults ,including my  son , liked the mad-cap adventures of Matt Smith the most. They  like the CapDoc but they think his series have been too dark. I don’t agree and have loved these last 2 series with 12. There are childr…[Read more]

@jimthefish      You are right -change is good.  When RTD and Tennant left I wasn’t sure if I would like the new Doctor  but of course Moffat and Matt were great. After the initial regeneration shock (mine, not the Doctors) I found I liked the change. Same goes for the many changes on this show and lets face it everything changes. Doctors, compan…[Read more]

My complaint is purely selfish………I hate waiting.  But of course I will , rewatching old series while I wait, not so patiently.

As far as a new show runner I will wait and see what he does, but I am sure I will like some a lot and some not so much and I will keep on watching.  Why?  Because I love The Doctor and I can’t think how bad it wou…[Read more]

@pedant  @sirclockface @puroandson   Watched and loved Arthur singing. Broke out in giggles a few times. Thanks for the giggle.

@toinfinityandbepond       I watched the first episode and it seems pretty good. Love the long coat and time machine.

  • winston replied to the topic Doctor Who News (3)

@everyone     WHAT ?    No new series until 2017 ? Only a Christmas episode way, way ,way off in December? Moffat leaving? It is too late in the evening to wrap my head around all this news but you can bet I will have a hard time sleeping tonight. Maybe I am way to addicted to Doctor Who. A whole year?

    Night all.

  • winston replied to the topic The Fox Inn

@puroandson  and @pedant     No worries from this end about spoilers. I have not even read anything here except at the Fox Inn. I will stay away from the commentaries or other special features until I am finished the series.. Although not a spoiler-phobe I would rather be surprised by each new episode.

    Don’t worry Puro , I am always willin…[Read more]
