After all the joking about how it was going to be like a talent show, it actually ended up being like a talent show results programme with a bit of telethon thrown in.

At least the montage at the beginning was quite good. Hearing (Michael Wisher) Davros & the (Roy Skelton) Daleks actually made me shit my pants with fear.

I love the way Peter Davison says to Peter Capaldi right at the end ‘What have you done?’

If you think about Capaldi’s appearances in the Whoniverse, he always seems destined to a cruel fate. John Frobisher was forced into the cruellest of corners, and he and his family had to die. Caecilius was actually destined to die along with his family (again) but the Doctor naughtily intervened and saved them (a rescue mirrored later in Waters of Mars).

So are there other Capaldis & families all over the Multiverse destined to horrible fates? And why?

The story has hit Sky News. Moffat was at the Elstree studio and talked about approaching Capaldi . They interviewed lots of cosplayers which was really quite fun.

Tomorrow’s Daily Mail has the cover headline; ‘Was there a BBC betting coup on new Dr Who?’

Notice that for a long time the Half-Human thing was never overtly challenged in AG Who, perhaps in some kind of dark BBC conspiracy.

It was only properly debunked in ‘Journey’s End’, in which the Meta-crisis Dr (now clothed) chats to Donna:

DR: ‘Oh, you are kidding me! No way! One heart. I’ve got one heart! This body has got only one heart!’

DONNA: ‘Like you’re human?’

DR: ‘Oh, that’s disgusting. ‘
