@nick No, we’ve seen the same explosion twice. Once, before TEoT and now again in the latest comic. When RTD had to give up using the Daleks in TEoT he brought back the Time Lords instead. How do you bring them back if they’re all dead? The time-lock idea. That seemed in direct contradiction to the comic (there’s no explosion when Gallifrey is returned to the time-lock in TEoT) and what the Dr kept saying about what he’d done (on screen). But now we have the same explosion again with official approval 3 months before we (probably) find out what actually happened.
Perhaps the time-lock includes the moment when Gallifrey is blown up.
Or maybe you’re right that entering the time-lock caused the explosion.
I expect we’ll find out soon…

22 August 2013 at 23:00 #16517Anonymous @@wolfweed — interesting links. Curious how little clues to the puzzle are leaking out via the current comic strips. Terrible piece of art though. I guess it’s meant to look Warhol-esque but it just looks terrible to my eyes…
And the more they bang on about Capaldi’s first story being the Christmas special, the more I’m convinced that we’re going to see him in November…

28 August 2013 at 16:23 #16766Anonymous @There isn’t actually a 4th person there. It’s just a trick of the light creating a “ghost” image on the camera lens. That’s why the “other Tennant” (the one at the far right of the pic” is largely see-through.

Listen up, people. This is some series 8 news coming straight out of Cardiff (the Cardiff Arms pub, that is)…
The main arc villains will be … the Drashigs (who will be teaming up with Mestor from the Twin Dilemma).
And Adric will be returning as a second companion… as will Mel…
You heard it here first….
1 September 2013 at 17:58 #16886Anonymous @@wolfweed – either Craig or PhaseShift posted something after that teenage girl OMG’ing over Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor, that we shouldn’t make fun of these people. Granted, this guy brings it all on himself (we don’t know whether that girl agreed for her video to be posted to the world), but still, he’s obviously a fairly sad case.
Not that I didn’t laugh over ‘Peter Capoli’, mind. 😉 I just feel a bit bad for doing so.
1 September 2013 at 20:22 #16892Anonymous @@wolfweed – I vaguely recall a similar story about Jamie’s (possible) return last year. If I remember correctly, it was featured on the BBC’s entertainment pages however, the story wasn’t that Fraser Hines was returning, it was him just commenting that, if asked, he would love to make an appearance in the 50th special and/or a Series 8 episode.
This seems to have been exaggerated into a ‘definitely returning’ story as in the ‘Churchill to return to who’ story you posted earlier.

http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-who/27236/doctor-who-50th-anniversary-special-title-revealed
Anniversary special will be called ‘Day of The Doctor’ with a 75 minute run time.
Maybe the 11th Doctor stuck in one Groundhog-esque day because he can’t get out of his time stream? The day the Hurt Doctor becomes the Doctor? The day the Doctor became the Doctor? I’m assuming it’s not the day the Doctor saved the universe, coz we’ve had hundreds of those days already!
10 September 2013 at 13:17 #17123Anonymous @@osakahatter — 75mins is a bit disappointing when we’d been gearing up for 90mins. Not sure cinema-goers will be too happy with forking out for what’s really not that much over the length of say The Eleventh Hour….
As far as titles go, it could really mean anything, everything or nothing… like the Groundhog Day idea tho…
10 September 2013 at 14:19 #17124@jimthefish – yup, thought the same about the running time. It’s gonna be like early 90’s cinema.
In all seriousness, slightly less than a standard 2 parter after being an anniversary year that could politely be described as ‘lacking’ feels very underwhelming (while at the same time, will be eagerly devoured due to the paucity of episodes over the past 2 years)

- BBC Two lecture by Professor Brian Cox (he appeared in The Power of Three) on the science behind Doctor Who
- A 90-minute documentary on BBC Radio 2 will ask “Who Is The Doctor?” – using newly-recorded interviews and exclusive archive material to find an answer
- BBC Three will “be home to several commissions”, where the details are still yet unclear and Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide will appear somewhere in some shape and form

11 September 2013 at 08:38 #17154This is a comment on a link that @wolfweed posted in the Dr Who News thread about Dr Winning TV choice awards. If my reading was correct then Peter Davidson had his personal copy of the script. I would not have thought that necessary unless he was making an appearance. Curious.

14 September 2013 at 00:02 #17238Anonymous @@wolfweed — that’s awesome news. I hope it’s the 50th anniversary episode (the fact that he’s got a script seems to bear that out). 14 September 2013 at 00:07 #17239@jimthefish I’ve got a suspicion that the classic Dr’s might get their own mini episode that has so far remained top secret. A sort of ‘Time Crash with bells on’. I’m probably way off the mark, though…
