@dentarthurdent It wasn’t a good first episode and I fear it turned away viewers which is a shame.
I agree with your comments, like the new Tardis interior. it gives lots of space for the Doctor to run about in and this Doctor is very physically expressive and that works. It is a little too minimalist though so not my favourite which will…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent @ps1l0v3y0u In 2005 we took a road trip to British Columbia that would take us 6 days. I planned for months and remember thinking how great the internet was when I ordered maps from every province along with other tourist info. I planned every step of the trip and spent a lot of my drive with maps spread out on my lap. The tri…[Read more]

To tell the truth I need to rewatch The Blind Banker. But, as I remember, Sherlock grabs an A-Z off a couple in the street. Isn’t that the point? The Mind Palace is a concentration and abstract of reality, while the book is something anyone might possess (before the days of google maps and satnav). The medium should be e…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent Wow, what an experience! You described everything so clearly. I’m glad that you were mostly uninjured, and also that once the rental agency knew where the car ended up, you were rebooked and on your way in fairly short order. Kudos also to the concierge at the swanky hotel who, on second try, found you a cheaper room. That must…[Read more]

Sherlock…He’s digital. But analogue is more mind-palacey.
Also this reflects the pace of technological change. The Blind Banker was 14 years ago. Who had heard of algorithms in 2010? In the previous episode Sherlock had to painstakingly explain smart phones and their potential.
You could say he was doing it for the benefit of…[Read more]

DW with no disaster??? Disaster would seem to be a dramatic necessity. Therefore The Fam might be seen as a ploy to rewrite said rule. A disastrous one of course.
Stupid coincidence is more of an issue.

@dentarthurdent OK, you buried your lede. You must tell us the story of the Opel’s predecessor! I hope that you came out of that one unscratched … even if the car didn’t.

I assume Rose 2 will eventually be given her own arc.
The Meep was launched from a cartoon. That was fun. And cartoony!
I think everyone assumed The V’linx was from the same place. I asked the question at the time and I got no answer.
The V’linx would seem to be a neologism; either it sprang fully formed Rusty’s Mighty Brain…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent @janetteb I enjoyed all of this episode and seeing all the old faces. Rose is a lovely new face and I would buy her stuffies any day, except the Meep. Cute and harmless at first disguising quite a nasty little guy inside. The Meep reminds me of the adorable young racoon we have visiting our bird feeder .He is so cute with h…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent. Gosh how the year has flown. It seems like a couple of years since Star Beast. I barely remember it. Must be due for a re watch. Reading your review i do recall disliking the burning fissures in the street, very silly, and the pacing was hectic but otherwise this episode was fun. I always liked Donna and felt that her loosing…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent. Pizza with the lot is a good description, and by the lot they mean everything, pineapple, olives, capsicum, every kind of meat ever thrown at a pizza, any kind of pizza.
I did watch it but it is just a tangled mess. Was there a story in there, I could not locate it. I would have been nice to see some of those old faces if they…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent @blenkinsopthebrave I remember watching Star Trek as a kid and they ended up at the OK Corral but as the cowboys against Earp and Holiday . I was confused for a few years as to who were the bad guys, I mean it couldn’t be Kirk and the crew. It is funny how many shows do a western.

The first Who western was a 4 episode Hartnell story called “The Gunfighters” fr0m 1966. I can remember watching it as a nipper. It was cringingly bad.
The combination of The Doctor with a toothache, Steven and Dodo in laughable costumes, all ending up at the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. It was…embarrassing. And I loved the H…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent I still want to know more about Jeff ! Why is he storing such strange things ? Why so many beefy beans? Who are you Jeff?
I like this episode, fun fast and feisty, with fireworks at the end, who could ask for more?

@dentarthurdent You have convinced me to watch the episode. I confused it with the previous Dalek New Year’s Special which wasn’t bad and so thought I had seen this one until I reread Craig’s intro.
Cheers

@dentarthurdent The Weeping Angels episode was the best, I agree. That’s what made me think we were headed toward something special. And then … splat.
I liked Dan, but I also felt that he was shoehorned in. I never quite warmed up to him because he, like the other companions, felt more like caricatures than fleshed-out characters. It was…[Read more]

I enjoyed this episode a lot while I was watching it , the Doctor was very doctorish and there was some great banter. I am still liking Dan and his ability to cope with Sontarans , spaceships and a talking dog who hates him. The show looked good, the sets were good and the costumes were good but…..the story is confusing.
I really did like it…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent I did not think it would be but some people are very sensitive when it comes to spoilers. The question of what is or isn’t a spoiler has led to many a heated family argument in our household.
A Christmas Special written by Moffat is really more of a present than a spoiler.
As to meaning the opposite of what one says, we are…[Read more]

Yes Moffat is doing the Christmas Special. (I hope that doesn’t count as a Spoiler.)

@janetteb @dentarthurdent @ps1l0v3y0u @nerys I really enjoy the Christmas episodes and watch them again every year in order. I like the fun ones I guess and I appreciate some others for being great episode…[Read more]
