I’m surprised I haven’t seen anything about this on this site yet but LEGO has announced a Doctor Who pack for LEGO Dimensions. The video game is set to release this fall. I’ll post a link to the trailer and a separate link to some more gameplay footage. This game will be available on all consoles including last gen consoles and the Wii U. The “starter pack” is very expensive, however, at $99.99 American. The pack that allows one to play as Doctor Who is $29.99. So for American Doctor Who fans, it will cost about $130. To put that in perspective, The Wand Company universal remote sonic screw driver props only cost $100 plus shipping. To be honest, I have the 10th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver by the Wand Company, and while I do enjoy looking at it, occasionally “scanning” random objects, and turning the TVs off in retail stores, I don’t touch it very often. I think the $130 would give me more bang for my buck if I spent it on the LEGO Dimensions Dr. Who set. But this game isn’t going to be a pure Doctor Who experience. It seems like the Doctor Who pack is more of a sort of expansion than anything. I don’t think I’ll be preordering it but I’m definitely interested.
9 November 2014 at 07:38 #35113After the first appearance of Missy, I predicted that she was the Master reborn as a Time Lady half jokingly to a friend of mine. I prefaced the prediction with “I desperately hope I’m wrong because when the Master pops up, I get depressed for a week or so”.
Then, at the beginning of the episode, I chuckled and said gloomily to my girlfriend “Wouldn’t it be a bummer if he got hit by a car?” and then Danny’s end of the phone call goes silent after a few knocks and bumps right after we see him standing on the roadside preparing to cross.
But when I tell the gamblers in my life to bet on the Ducks…the Coyotes win in over time. I have a very gloomy sort of luck.
9 November 2014 at 07:24 #35110This episode was quite good…even though I want to hate it. My girlfriend and I clung to our sonic screwdrivers and eachother’s free hand hoping that Danny would some how come back or that Clara would at least join him like Amy joined Rory. We just wanted some closure.
As for Clara and the Doctor’s goodbye: I don’t see how it can be said that this was somehow out of character for one or the other. They’ve spent nearly this entire season lying to each other. At the beginning of Dark Water Clara deceives the Doctor and then the Doctor deceives her, forcing her to go through something she wouldn’t have ever done had her heart not been broken. Clara wasn’t just a companion like other companions, she was the Doctor’s best friend. They cared enough for each other to lie one last lie for the other party’s benefit.
Now on to the conundrums: Orson Pink would be a good reason for Moffat to bring some closure to the tragedy that this episode embodied. If anyone could bring Danny Pink back from the dead…it’s Santa. I don’t think the Master/Mistress is dead. I mean…he/she could be. But I would be truly surprised by a permanent death after all of the other seemingly permanent deaths.
In closing: This episode was truly one of the best in the series. But I’m frustrated that it took all of this happening for the Doctor to learn who he is now. I can’t help but feel that things would have happened differently if Allons-Y or Geronimo were involved. Allons-Y would have likely figured out a way to completely abuse his power but still save Danny, Clara, Kate, and the rest of the Universes. Geronimo may have even gotten the same results as 12/13 but he would have done more to at least try to save Danny for Clara (I think).
I hope the Christmas episode stitches up some of the wounds from this series but if it helps me forget the wounds that’s all well and good.
UNLIKELY BUT HOPEFUL PREDICTION: Clara was calling Danny a the beginning of Dark Water to tell him she was pregnant. This ensure’s Orson Pink’s existence and at the same time gives Clara a little bit of Danny to hold on to until her time comes.

There was plenty of attention on the SUPPORTING characters (looking at Clara) but the majority of the episode was on the Doctor and him saving the day. I am disappointed that the engineer didn’t stay on the TARDIS as her permanent mechanic but there would have been a lot of explaining they needed to do. Good episode!!
6 October 2014 at 07:46 #33124Though not my favorite of this season (Listen still takes the cake), I did think this was a very solid episode. Though I still don’t like how much the show seems to focus on the Doctor’s followers. So far it all feels sort of like Chris Eccleston’s run (with most of the story revolving around Rose Tyler). I didn’t dislike that season at all, however I enjoy when episodes of Doctor Who are about the Doctor himself. Listen felt like it focused on the Doctor and his own psychology and past just as much as it did Danny and Clara. Anyway…just my two cents.
@badwulf As for the abortion discussion, I think the Doctor illustrated the only logical course of action very well. We must step away from decisions that aren’t ours to make and hope the person will make the right or best decision. I was born out of wedlock and my biological mother told me she considered aborting me because she didn’t think she was ready. I don’t live with her anymore, but I didn’t destroy any one’s world to my knowledge. I can’t say I know what it’s like to have your entire way of life threatened, but I know that the power to take a life before it began for your own reasons is a terrifying power to wield. Odds are everything will be just fine.

30 September 2014 at 08:36 #32752I liked this episode but that’s about all. I don’t enjoy seeing the Doctor be a jerk. Caretaker is the most recent episode to be released at this time and still I haven’t seen any emotion from the Doctor besides contempt and frustration with the exception to some fatherly concern and love he’s feeling towards Clara in Caretaker. There was a crack in that stoic demeanor in this episode when he realizes his own hate is corrupting Rusty but that’s been pretty much it. He defines this with the line “She’s my carer. She cares so I don’t have to.”
30 September 2014 at 08:32 #32751Plain and simple I didn’t enjoy this episode. My opinion of this episode peaked when the Doctor fought Robin Hood with a spoon. After that I found myself getting bored and annoyed with the plot.
30 September 2014 at 08:29 #32750I enjoyed this episode but not as much as I have enjoyed beginning episodes for previous doctors. I wasn’t shown who this Doctor is as a person but I hope/suspect that will be revealed as the overarching stories unfold.
30 September 2014 at 08:26 #32749This episode was one that I almost didn’t watch but I’m very glad I did. Probably my second favorite so far especially when the twist is brought into account. It genuinely surprised me that there were two of the creatures and love was the “price” the antagonist alluded to. As for the identity of the Architect…I can’t stand when writers do stuff like that. It feels very lazy and I would have liked the episode even more if the Architect had been someone else. Like one of the clones who was supposed to be disposed of but who escaped and enlisted the Doctor to exact revenge? Idk.
Good episode though.

30 September 2014 at 08:18 #32746Honestly, I enjoyed this episode but Listen still remains my favorite of the series. There’s just something about this series though…I can’t put my finger on it but there’s just something it’s missing. I still don’t feel like I know the 12th Doctor yet. I knew the 10th by the second episode of his first series, I knew the 11th in the moments of his first appearance in End of Time part 2 and he really shined in the first episode of his first series. We are 4 episodes into this series and still I don’t know 12. I feel like Clara has gotten a lot more development than is needed right now. I’m growing tired of her. I don’t really care about her relationship with Soldier Dan I just want to understand who this new Doctor is.
I want more scenes of him using the TARDIS as a study, I want to see him on an adventure in time in space, I want to see him manipulating the locals and being clever! I just want more Doctor Who and a little less Clara if that makes any sense. I was almost offended by the opening scene in which we rush through an entire year’s worth of adventures. I would’ve liked to see some of those adventures and mysteries.
I like these types of episodes normally, but Clara isn’t as endearing as Craig was and if I want to watch a story about two people falling in love in spite of extreme circumstances, I can just listen to my 14 year old cousin tell me about her long distance relationship.
Negativity aside…I LOVED 12’s interactions with Danny except for the part where the Doctor treats Danny like rubbish because of his past. I don’t think any of the previous Doctors would have done that especially considering one of the staples of the revived series is the Doctor’s remorse for committing genocide.
