Hi all, haven’t posted for a long time but always lurk to keep an eye on the bonkers theories! Have you seen the new trailer? Only slightly more informative than the last one, but at least it has a few words in it. More interesting is the news that ep 1 of the new series will be feature length. Not to wish my kids’ school holidays away (started today), but can’t wait for 23rd August!
Happy theorising!

6 November 2013 at 22:54 #20106Probably this has been posted somewhere else on the forum already, but DW Twitter reports the trailer finally appearing this Saturday just before 8pm.
4 August 2013 at 22:57 #15298In terms of a leak, some of the Guardian commenters seemed to be saying that Capaldi’s Wiki page was updated to say that he was the 12th Doctor a couple of days ago – seems difficult to believe though, you’d have thought it would have been all over the internet if that was the case.
26 July 2013 at 23:00 #14491Just got a catalogue in from the Lakeland kitchenware company, they’ve got a few accessories for anyone planning a themed party in November – TARDIS icecubes anyone? Makes me wish my family and friends were Whovians, so that I had an excuse to make a Dalek cake – still, there’s hope yet for the 4 and 6 year olds…

2 June 2013 at 12:04 #11633If he really wants to be ginger this time, what about Julian Rhynd-Tutt? Damian Lewis would be another interesting red-head, but maybe too successful already for the time commitment required.
2 June 2013 at 00:11 #11550Can’t remember where, but I’m sure I read somewhere that Helen Mirren had said she’d love to do it.
1 June 2013 at 23:01 #11534Does this mean there’s no chance HTPBDET will ever add that S?
1 June 2013 at 22:53 #11529BTW, is this “news” rather than “spoilers” now??
1 June 2013 at 22:53 #11528I was kind of hoping we’d get one more series before a change. Still, I was sure whoever followed David Tennant wouldn’t be as good, and I was wrong, so maybe Doctor 12 will be even better! (I assume it can’t actually be John Hurt, can it??)
1 June 2013 at 22:36 #11525Def not a spoiler now – it’s headline news on BBC1!
Liked this part of Matt’s statement:
“The fans of Doctor Who around the world are unlike any other; they dress up, shout louder, know more about the history of the show (and speculate more about the future of the show) in a way that I’ve never seen before. “
1 June 2013 at 22:28 #11523spoiler – prob not, but just in case
spoiler
etc
etc
This has been announced by the Beeb, so I don’t know if it still counts as a spoiler, but I’m not going to risk psting it anywhere else first – Matt Smith is leaving, will be regenerating in the Christmas special. Shame, I really liked his doctor, but time for lots of speculation on who we’ll get next!
26 May 2013 at 20:41 #11081@bluesqueakpip – as above to ScaryB! As you can tell, I am not very au fait with waistcoat accessories!!
26 May 2013 at 20:37 #1107826 May 2013 at 20:10 #11068Hi folks, haven’t been posting recently but have been lurking and reading the bonkers theories with great enjoyment!
@bluesqueakpip – there was a reasonable close up of the front of Matt SMith’s waistcoat in NiS when he was being cyberised, and it looked more like a decorative sovereign or something on the chain, rather than a fob watch, I thought – maybe yet another Moffatt misdirect?

It also says that there are bits and pieces planted a couple of years ago, so it seems the three series arc is a goer!
20 April 2013 at 20:51 #6185@juniperfish – from what I remember from a recent trip to Cardiff museum, giant dragonflies were around before the dinosaurs.
20 April 2013 at 20:30 #6181@mephistopheles – I’m sure you’re right there. We’ve gone from 10 being a “lonely god” to 11 as “lonely monster”.
20 April 2013 at 20:13 #6176@mephistopheles – just re-watched and the line was “there’s a sliver of ice in his heart”, so the Shard idea maybe doesn’t hold up, sadly.
The Doctor said that if he took the TARDIS into the pocket universe she would get trapped there, but Clara flew her there (twice) – was he just wrong or was he trying to keep the TARDIS out of the way again?
Really enjoyed that, but next week’s looks amazing!!
14 April 2013 at 20:12 #5589@juniperfish – Clara wasn’t in the ep of course, but the Doctor also said he was hands 3 and 4 on the duet that was playing when he first met Solomon in Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (sorry, have forgotten the composer). Can’t think of a song ref in Mercy, but there was the Cube that played the Birdie Song in Power of Three – it’s been a very musical series!
14 April 2013 at 19:19 #5573@juniperfish – the “power of a name” idea has also already cropped up in the Shakespeare episode with 10, where the Doctor was able to defeat the Carrionite in Bedlam because he knew her true name – “that’s old magic”.
13 April 2013 at 22:16 #5417@juniperfish – I’m not all that well up on mythology, but we’ve had a Minotaur already, and didn’t someone escape from the Minotaur’s labyrinth using a ball of string? <clutches desperately at straw>!
13 April 2013 at 21:45 #5405@juniperfish – good theory! The clues in support of your two Doctors theory certainly do seem to be mounting up.
13 April 2013 at 21:33 #5401@juniperfish – he said “breaking her in” and then “it relocates”, so a bit of both there, not sure if it’s just inconsistent scripting??
13 April 2013 at 20:59 #5391That was great! Over on the Guardian site <a href="mailto:site@juniperfish“>@juniperfish talks about the possibility of more than one Doctor/TARDIS – at the end when Clara asked him about why the TARDIS disappeared, he muttered something about “I’ve been tinkering – breaking her in” – after he’s had her for more than 900 years?
Anybody got any suitably bizarre theories about the significance of the Sindy doll and the toffee apple??
12 April 2013 at 21:55 #5267@craig – no criticism of the site intended, we all appreciate you spending your valuable spare time running it. It’s just a shame the Internet seems to attract so many destructive, as well as creative, people.
12 April 2013 at 20:18 #5249@bluesqueakpip – the test flight one, when he opens it up after the redesign and calls it “you sexy thing!”.
12 April 2013 at 19:28 #5245Bit late to the conversation (couldn’t get logged in last night), but I watched Eleventh Hour again to check out if the St John’s logo was introduced along with Matt Smith – it isn’t on the Tardis that crashes in Amelia’s garden, it appears on the redesigned one at the end (and on the version in the opening credits).
7 April 2013 at 19:50 #4503@craig thanks for the tip about the @!
@haveyoufedthefish, 9 may have said he’d know if there were any timelords left alive, but he obviously didn’t know about the Master until he turned up in the third NuWho series, so maybe that comment was more emotional than accurate?
7 April 2013 at 09:49 #4391Thanks for the welcome, Juniperfish – that’s why this site is soooo much better than the Guardian blog, everyone’s so friendly (that and the lack of hideous nesting!).
Anyway, can’t come up with quite such a comprehensive first proper post as Lula, but in relation to the order of things happening, when Clara was explaining to the Doctor at the end of BoSJ how she came to be looking after the Maitland kids, she said she came to stay for a week and the Doctor says that then their mother died “and you were returning the favour” – implies that at that stage he had already done the investigating and knew her mum had died.
5 April 2013 at 22:36 #4219Just read in the Independent that Christopher Ecclestone turned down the offer of taking part in the anniversary special – don’t imagine that comes as a surprise to anyone considering his well-known feelings about leaving.

4 April 2013 at 22:14 #4177Hi there, another former Guardian lurker surfacing, enjoyed all your fantastic theories over there last series and since Craig launched this site. I’m not quite as full of bonkers ideas as you lot, but in relation to the leaf what about a link to Lorna Bucket, the girl from the Gamma Forests – we never really found out what she was all about in AGMGTW last year?
PS: Tiddler, the most important fish in any Julia Donaldson-reading household (saving the assorted fish clans’ presence)!
