Also the making of the Ice Warrior’s voice explained in the interlude show, ‘The SoundWorld of Doctor Who’.

13 July 2013 at 17:39 #13777The penultimate episode is always the tricky one. Thankfully, here we’re shown the joy that being taught how to ‘break & enter’ can bring. Also, the health benefits of Opium are extolled. We are presented with the concept of drugging under-age girls to get your own way with them, too.
Furthermore, we are also educated to the fact that pigs hate us (Humans). And that we can expect an Ice Age in the year 5000 (And 3 more World Wars before then).
The true nature of Mr Sin has an interesting mirror in the Space-Pigs of ‘Aliens of London’.

One last thought – seeing as Weng-Chiang comes from the future, perhaps he should have thought of getting a bum-bag to carry the Key to the Time-Cabinet around. That way, when he found the Cabinet, he wouldn’t be back to square one & blaming his minions for it again! But then we wouldn’t need 6 episodes…

13 July 2013 at 13:58 #13755The Dr Who York Maze is one of the largest mazes in the world. It features an image of the world’s biggest Dalek at 1000ft long, and images of William Hartnell and Matt Smith . The Maize Maze is set in 18 acres and has 10 km of pathways cut through over 1 million living maze plants.
13 July 2013 at 00:22 #1373312 July 2013 at 20:48 #13715Just watched ‘Tin Man’ (2007). I was amused, as the psychic lions are a blatant rip off of the Tharils from Dr Who’s ‘Warrior’s Gate’ (Which happens to be one of my favourite stories)…..

7 July 2013 at 20:12 #13306I think that Geoffrey Sax, the director of the tv movie was directly part of Amblin when they were first trying to negotiate the rights. But by the time these rights were secured, said director was independent of Spielberg.
I’m sure someone can out-nerd me on the details, though…
6 July 2013 at 21:52 #13275This episode sees Jago reach his Alliterative Apotheosis.
He starts off with the great line: ‘I’m about to repair for half a foot of port.’
Then it’s on to talk about Mrs Samuelson and later, Litefoot mentions Mrs Hudson, both of whom we never see.

Interesting to see the Dr trounce Leela at draughts (checkers over the water), because in ‘The Mind of Evil’, Jo decimates the Dr at the game, whereupon he complains that it’s too simple. 3-D chess on the other hand…
(A series or two later of course, we’ll see K9 & the Dr battle at chess…
A game with an important role in the McCoy ‘arc’ and with no. 11 in NIS…)No wonder we feel sorry for Chang – His ex Boss reaffirms that he’s now free to live his own life, then destroys his reputation & career just because he’s not a ‘real’ magician!
