  1. @Wolfweed

I’m assuming you made both of those. They are both utterly fantastic. Great work if it was you.

I love the first one for bringing the history into it (excuse my ignorance but is there footage or just audio of that?). This could be  a 50 year plan!

The second one is great fan service (although that sometimes has different connotations) . Thanks.

  2. @Craig – Cheers. The 1st video uses audio from ‘The Space Museum’ episode 1.

The 2nd video is a (‘previously’) recap  of the 11th Dr’s arc, mainly that ‘Silence will fall’ – Whatever that means…

  3. It sounds to me like ‘the clock is striking twelves’

Does that perhaps mean ‘the clock is striking twelves incarnation’?  After 11 falls.

@Arbutus I had picked this up also from the start of Matt Smith’s tenure, that it became quite fairy-tale like with young Amy, and stories within stories, and the story can be changed.  Different people retelling the story (retelling the myth) will embellish and remember things differently and create the story that suits their myths.

@Timeloop I sympathise on sleep.  I’ve averaged 3-4 hours a night for the last 3 years due to a painful condition, and tend now to do my best thinking sitting up at 4am.  Its amazing how litkle you can get by on, but its not good for long term vitality!  Bring on a Dr. 🙂

  4. @wolfweed Great videos.  Its good to recap through all those ‘silence’ references.

I’m struck just now by the whispermen ‘… the man who lies will lie no more, when this man lies at Trenzalore…’
lies, as in being economical with the truth?

Must I see double-meanings in everything?

  5. it  IS room 11 from the Hotel. Yaaay. I had suspected that was going to be part of T.I.M.E.  (Tantalising; Instructive; maybe Momentous; Enticing) but never solved. Of course, it still might never be solved… Kindest P.

  6. @soundwworld  you said you are very ill -or referred to it through poor sleep. 4 hrs a night just doesn’t do it. I am sad. I hope there is health in your future?

    Kindest, purofilion

  7. @soundworld

Different people retelling the story (retelling the myth) will embellish and remember things differently and create the story that suits their myths.

    You mean, like us?  🙂

  8. @soundworld  in that picture you attached, with the 3 ‘nativity’ daleks, in the classically styled painting to the left: there is a Silent in the painting. His face is elongated and he’s wearing the typical grey/silvery suit and tie. I think. Kindest. P

  9. Oooh, I’m getting so behind, not even had chance to watch the trailer yet

    ::hangs head in shame::

    But

I did spend too much time on Twitter tonight and came across some tweets from Louise Jamieson – who’s all excited, having just been to a special screening at the BFI (with Katy Manning and no doubt a few more people). She has lots to say (definitely no spoilers), including –

Returning home after BFI Xmas special. Matt Smith marvellous. You’re gonna enjoy folks, treats in store“.
In response to a question re whether lots of loose ends are tied up, she said:
    and lots more untied!”

And to “was there tears?“,  she says –

there might have been. Well, Katy was a puddle……….

Her Twitter’s here if anyone wants to look further/follow

…Fingers are sticking to keys whilst baking

Why are you baking your keyboard? 😆

@ScaryB – thanks for the link to Louise Jamieson. I used to view Twitter with suspicion but I’m slowly turning into a ‘Twitter Tart’ 🙂

  11. @FatManInABox   LOL. But my laptop is always ‘cooking’. The other day it made a ‘splitttt’ noise and turned off. Like a fevered patient, I found some icepacks and arranged them around Stellar (the name of my laptop) until her fever went down and she turned on again. No, I haven’t escaped from an asylum, that would be the Dalek next door.

  12. That second trailer looks very interesting indeed. Lots of loose-ends being tied up, it seems. If SM ties this up in good style, it could well be his crowning achievement as Whorunner.

But am I the only one hoping that PC’s first words as the Doctor are ‘And a Merry Christmas to all you at home!’ ?

  13. @purofilion The image I linked to was initially posted by @thommck upthread.  Well-spotted on the Silence there! I’m going for ‘the 3 wise daleks attending the birth of a new Dr’.  Or is it the birth of the Silence?

Fingers are sticking to keys whilst baking

This is an occasional hazard I find.  Especially when trying out new recipes online and coming back to the laptop to check something.  I’m mostly a bread-maker though and have learned not to mix kneading dough with checking emails 🙂  Laptops however should most definitely not be cooking – I suggest remove it from the oven imediately!  My previous laptop eventually became too hot to touch – shortly before it expired in a puff of smoke.  I do work ’em hard though.

Thank you for your kind thoughts re my health.  At the risk of taking over the thread (sorry everybody – mods move this elsewhere if its not appropriate), I’ll just say its not been an easy  few years.  3 years ago I nearly gave up on life after having to endure too much pain and dreadful discomfort, with nobody to support me and mis-diagnoses from the hospital consultant.  However, and this is the reason I’ve written about this at all here, Its like living through TDOTD.  I had to live through the painful years in order to gain the understanding to ‘go back’ into my emotional memory and change my relationship to traumatic events from earlier in my life which had been totally supressed (the Drs do forget), in order to create a new future which I am starting to become on track with – a massively more positive one than the one I would otherwise have had (it was killing me, literally).  No Big Red Button!  The good news is that I am transforming the condition and my life prospects solely through hard inner work, no medication.  The current poor sleep is hopefully the end of it.  So, TDOTD had masses of personal relevance and symbolism for me.

Room 11 – oooh! The God Complex was a favourite episode for me.  I find a lot in Dr Who that reflects how I perceive myths, cultural-energetic currents at work  in our collective.  The monsters feeding off our fears…  I can maybe write more on this at a future date if I work out how to put it all into words.

    @Arbutus Yes! Just like us.

  14. Just watching the new trailer again – if I have the dialogue correctly?  At 00:39

“The time war will begin anew, the siege of Trenzalore is now begun, this world will burn”

The Time War will begin anew…

  15. @soundworld

    By golly, you are right.

Which raises the question: can you have a new Time War without Time Lords?

Up until the 50th, all of AG Who was premised on the notion that all the Time Lords were dead. Now that has changed. So does this mean that the Daleks are aware of Gallifrey being frozen in a pocket universe, and are about to embark on a quest to find Galifrey and destroy it, just as the Doctor is about to embark on a quest to find Gallifrey and save it?

Of course, there is still that pesky problem of regeneration…

  16. @soundworld     I find a lot in Dr Who that reflects how I perceive myths, cultural-energetic currents at work  in our collective.  The monsters feeding off our fears…  I can maybe write more on this at a future date if I work out how to put it all into words.

Maybe a guest blog?  🙂   I would look forward to reading this!

  17. The Oswald family Christmas table is set for five. However, I can only see four people (presuming that a place wasn’t set for the Doctor). Clara, Dad, Gran and, probably, StepMum. The ’empty’ place is at the head of the table.

  18. just looking through some of the stills from the trailer(s), and i noticed… no cracked window on the tardis. so, the previous events on trenzalore were re-written? or avoided? because the windows were all fine in ‘tDotD’ as well…

  19. Oh, and another thing the second mini-clip carefully establishes: Clara doesn’t see the Doctor as her ‘boyfriend’- they are not in that kind of relationship.

  20. @Wolfweed

Re 3rd clip… hmm, it would seem Tasha may not be as friendly as we’ve been led to believe (or maybe I’ve been reading the wrong previews). Looks great
