@wolfweed Thanks for the Ian Levine link. He’s been threatening to erupt for a while. There does seem to be a lot of  “stuff” going on, and a money motivation would make sense.  I like to think that more missing episodes have been found, but I don’t think it’s worth losing sleep over. (OTOH I doubt there’s many folk will lose sleep over Ian L losing sleep!)  Can’t wait for the follow up to An Adventure in Space and Time though – it’s going to be a doozy!

Sorry, no you didn’t. I was just speculating that the story of the recovery of 9 (or more…?!!) missing episodes is going to be a doozy! (Actually that could be part 3 – there’s the JNT/Baker/wilderness years to be covered as well (tho that’s likely to be the horror episode 😉 )

Great news about the BAFTAs, and well deserved IMHO. I see Broadchurch won Best Drama, Best Actress (Olivia Colman) and Best Supporting Actor (David Bradley) – Yay!

True, not much in the way of spoilers, but…what was the first scene of Matt Smith in series 5? His innocent, playful face appearing out of the up-turned Tardis as he greets Amelia. And what is the first image we are shown of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor? A dark (literally in the dark) Doctor, surrounded by fire.

Actually, I think we have been given a hint.

@blenkinsopthebrave – yes, thinking about it, it is a bit of a hint for people who don’t know Peter Capaldi’s previous work.

Personally, the first time he got ‘name’ status for me was when he played The Angel Islington, so I’m not exactly expecting him to be a ‘fish fingers and custard’ Doctor. 😈

But since my middle name is pedantic (okay, my middle name is ‘squeak’, but anyway…), I must point out that the first image we saw of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor was a pair of very angry eyes. 🙂

@fatmaninabox – given how nervy TV execs often are (‘The star’s leaving! OMG, we need a star! What d’you mean we haven’t got a star! We NEED a star!’), I can easily imagine a few panic stricken emails. Equally, I can easily imagine RTD telling them that David wasn’t a star when he started in the role and that Doctor Who was considerably bigger than David Tennant. (In which thought, David Tennant would undoubtedly agree.)

I suspect the plans were to give Moffat his first year with Smith and see how it went.

Season 8 to bring about the biggest changes to the series since 2005. Thank goodness, its not that I didn’t like Matt Smith, He is my doctor, but the series needs to evolve!

I’m a designer from the States who has spent the last several months creating a clothing line for the lady geek – clothes that bridge the gap between t-shirts and body stockings. Now, we all love our t-shirts, and we all like to feel sexy in the odd short and tight from time to time, but my line is specifically geared toward the woman who wants to embrace her fandoms and her fashion sense.

I’ve been sent a press release from SFX magazine informing me that The Doctor and Rose’s farewell at Bad Wolf Bay has been voted the greatest moment EVER in sci-fi, horror & fantasy! The Hulk destroying Loki in Avengers was second and the Alien chestbuster scene was third. 96,000 votes were cast.

The Top 10 Greatest Moments in Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy supposedly are:
