18 November 2013 at 10:13 #20881More from the BBC this morning – slightly tenuous Who link but I love Richard Wilson (unforgettable as Eddie Clockerty in Tutti Frutti) – and he’s just been presented with a lifetime achievement Scottish Bafta by 1 Mr Tennant (in a kilt (what’s not to like?!))

WARNING – there’s some interesting/mildly spoilerific dialogue by a character in the background – nothing we haven’t guessed on here already, and open to interpretation re what exactly they are referring to, as you can’t see anything!

19 November 2013 at 07:43 #20935Anonymous @The Guardian is continuing its excellent coverage of Doctor Who with a (short) article this morning about BBC DG Tony Hall:
Doctor Who visit takes Tony Hall back to schooldays
“Quite possibly the most exciting moment of my time as DG came during a visit to the set in Cardiff. The cast and crew let me ‘fly’ the Tardis, that is to say, stand at the central console while they ran the special effect lights,” wrote Hall. “I was the Birkenhead schoolboy once again.”
19 November 2013 at 10:33 #20938@jimthefish @phaseshift @pedant @wolfweed @haveyoufedthefish (good to see you’re still about somewhere btw 🙂 )
Ah, the Graun is just irresistible sometimes 😉 And it’s fun to dip in there occasionally, just don’t get angry. You all made me LMAO, esp @wolfweed (a pithy, pointed 6 words). But not quite as much as the person who accused me of “not giving a shit” about the show 😆
::goes off to find another hanky to wipe away the tears:: Oh my, shouldn’t laugh this much so early!
Oh, and that’s a brilliant link @magnetite posted of the TARDIS tour

19 November 2013 at 12:16 #20943Completely spoiler-free, so I’m posting the iPlayer link here: David Tennant’s spoof intro to The Day of The Doctor.
19 November 2013 at 12:28 #20944That Tennant clip is BRILLIANT 😆 Thanks for posting. (And just for info the big wooden box thing he’s sitting next to is the TARDIS (from the outside) 😉 )
It should be compulsory viewing for every ARSE fan and posted at the start of all the recent Graun comments threads.

Australian broadcaster ABC have announced a special “pop-up” radio channel dedicated to Doctor Who for its 50th Anniversary celebration, which will run throughout the day on Sunday 24th November 2013.
20 November 2013 at 02:26 #20975Thanks to @wolfweed for keeping us all up to date and @bluesqueakpip for that lovely Tennant clip. I love his face though that. Definitely one for the ARSE fans. @jimthefish. There has certainly been a surge in bad natured comments recently on the Guan. I think they all coming out of whatever dark corners they normally lurk in for the anniversary, getting their share of the fun. I have not had time to post and as the articles usually go up in the night our time anything worth saying has usually been said, (mostly by all of you guys) by the time I get to read though but I do a lot of recommending.
@blenkinsopthebrave, I thought that a very bad photo of Hartnell so you are forgiven for thinking it was Hurndall. (Never realised just how similiar their names are.) I also thought their picture of Baker was taken after he left Dr Who. I don’t recall him looking that old in the series. It looks like a later publicity shot to me. You can see the grey hair under his hat.
I have a much treasured and now rather battered copy of the Radio Time anniversary special so it obviously made it onto the shelves in Australia.
cheers
Janette
20 November 2013 at 02:29 #20976Just to add I noticed from the JLC interview that P.C. has started filming in costume. I wonder if there will be any pre-Christmas publicty shots or it will be a Christmas surprise. Let’s hope this one doesn’t get leaked. (Umm. Wonder if he will be wearing kilt. It is about time there was a shift from the suit look though I really did like Matt’s costume.)
Cheers
Janette
20 November 2013 at 08:32 #20978Anonymous @The station has joined with Nerdist Industries to screen a pre Anniversary show on the station and streamed globally on BBC America’s YouTube Channel. Hosted by Veronica Belmont, the Doctor Who 50th Live Pre-Show will air November 23, 2:30pm ET (1930 GMT) just prior to the premiere of Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary special The Day of The Doctor.
20 November 2013 at 08:43 #20980Anonymous @20 November 2013 at 08:48 #20981I’m in the UK and I’m having problems keeping up with all the links that are coming through. And I completely agree with you that it’s not just @blenkinsopthebrave‘s aging peepers! I had to look at the Hartnell pic a few times to be sure it was him – it’s very unHartnelly looking cos of the lighting and the angle. I like how the RT covers all link up – but it’s a bit of a sneaky way to multiply their sales x12!
Capaldi in a kilt… hmmm… not so sure about that! I’m sure they exhausted the kilt jokes with Jamie, haha.
And yes, the G boards should be treated as a source of amusement (some people could do with a course of anger management). But not as funny as the Tennant spoof clip – classic troll slapdown. He looks as if he’s about to corpse any minute. (It’s also funny how few of the commenters actually get it). Did I mention that big wooden box thing on his left (R in the pic) is the actual TARDIS? (And that’s just a tiny bit of it – it’s very impressive. (Sorry, a small bit of squee for me – I’ve been there, on that spot!))
3 SLEEPS TO GO!!! Hope your exams going well.
20 November 2013 at 09:38 #20982And while I remember – a ma-who-ssive (as the kids don’t say!) bow to @phaseshift for the “Verity” letter in response to Moffat saying he’s the original fan. It made me laugh as much as the Tenant vid! In case anyone missed it, and to save you having to plough through the neck-deep angst on the G pages I’ve taken the liberty of reproducing it here –
Dear BBC,
Having watched Doctor Who from the very beginning, can I say that with this latest episode, Cave of Skulls, Verity Lambert has ruined Doctor Who.
Yours,
Doctor Who Fan
