Companion’s Lament
don’t leave me behind
please
don’t leave me behind
you showed me the stars
and we ran so far
you promised the world
and gave so much more
don’t wander off
that’s what you said
and I’ll say it too
don’t wander off
don’t leave me behind
to grow old and die
don’t leave me behind
in your magic blue box
don’t trade me in
don’t leave me behind
please
you showed me the stars
how can I go back
when you showed me the stars
i’ll wither and die
but you never will
don’t leave me behind
when the story ends
you’ll change your face
I’ll have nothing left
won’t know you at all
don’t leave me behind
please
don’t leave me behind
you showed me the stars4 October 2013 at 22:13 #17849My fiancé and I are huge DW fans and are getting married in 2014. We are planning a DW Wedding! If anyone has any ideas of ways to incorperate it into our wedding/reception please share!

7 October 2013 at 14:01 #17956Anonymous @Hi all,
I’m a massive Dr Who fan and have been working hard to create this great event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dr Who. Basically I’m a bit of a science nerd and fanmcied a Dr Who event that wasn’t in London, or aimed at kids, so…ta da!
Dr Who: The Science Behind The Scenes
Saturday 16th November, 9:30-4:30, University of Central Lancashire, Preston

I hope to see you there!

8 October 2013 at 18:01 #17994@Shazzbot – I thought Linus was Davros, but now I’m not sure. He does get very insecure without that blanket…

Huge shout out to Rebecca Crockett for posting this about the BBC granting permission to The Story School to use The Doctor as one of the living characters at our interactive theatrical Summer Camp in 2014.
The Story School is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to using characters and creatures from literature, history, and media to teach young heroes about academics. The Doctor will be an excellent focus for our upcoming interactive adventures… seeing as the Tardis has gone missing….
Hope to see some serious Doctor fans next summer!
11 October 2013 at 21:14 #18301Anonymous @Hello everyone!
On the 23rd of November I am meeting Matt Smith for a photo shoot, and a signing! I am very lucky, I know.
I know how much you all want to say something to Matt Smith, so I want you to give me messages you want to say to him, for me to put in a massive card I am going to get him.
This is the perfect opportunity for you all to thank Matt, or just let him know of your existence!
You can either Submit what you want to say Here: http://www.ontheangelside.tumblr.com/submit
OR email me what you want to say at this address: mattsmithletters.gmail.com
If you have any questions either email me, or send me a question HERE:
http://www.ontheangelside.tumblr.com/ask
THANK YOU! Please send me things, I would hate to have an empty card!
11 October 2013 at 21:21 #18302Anonymous @@wolfweed – re your post 18146, can I just say that I have that very same dressing gown (albeit with a waist tie)? It has that same hood, and is in the same shade of red. Do I win a prize? 🙂
(Granted, my jammies don’t quite look like the photo. And I rarely – if ever! – wear white shoes with my jammies and that robe. 😀 )

17 October 2013 at 12:24 #18620With Halloween coming up I’m expecting to see a lot of Doctor Who pumpkins in this special anniversary year.
I found this rather terrifying pumpkin carving of an Odd today.
What do you say we have a members competition (just for fun) of the best DW related carving.
There’s lots of inspiration on a quick image search
17 October 2013 at 12:27 #18621Anonymous @@thommck — I can safely say that that creeped me out… like your idea of a carving contest. (Though back in my day, it were turnip that Halloween lanterns were made from.)
Interestingly, dear old Mother Fish sent me a pic of me aged eight all dressed up as the fourth Doctor with me very own TARDIS for Halloween way back in the mists of time. But no one is ever, ever going to see it….

Dalek vs Japan (unknown)21 October 2013 at 11:45 #18880Hello all.
As a long time fan of Doctor Who and also a professional musician this year we decided with my Band to record a song about this beloved series and created a video to honor its 50th anniversary and i would like to share it with you. i hope you like it 🙂
21 October 2013 at 16:23 #18925Anonymous @22 October 2013 at 20:20 #19080I thought I’d mention here, for those interested in supporting fan efforts, that Devo Spice, American geeky-comedian-Rapper (who is also a huge Doctor Who fan), has been working on a Doctor Who tribute album to coincide with the 50th anniversary. The album will include one song for each incarnation of the Doctor as well as a general Doctor Who song. He even got Peter Davidson to give him a cameo on the 5th Doctor’s song.
There’s still a Kickstarter that ends in a couple of days to pay for some of the production costs (it’s already funded) at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/371528925/i-am-the-doctor-a-doctor-who-concept-album
There’s a fan-made video of the general Doctor Who song from the album (and title track) on YouTube here:

And seeing that picture of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor has made me (heretically, I know!) wish we could skip over the 50th and go straight to his first adventure as the Doctor. Well, not ‘skip over’ perhaps, just compress all of time so that the 50th happens NOW and Peter’s big entrance happens immediately after NOW. 😀
