@wolfweed for some reason those picture links didn’t work as they had extra info in the URL (1.2.3.9/bmi/ at the start of the first one and an extra jpg at the end of the second one). I’ve fixed it, but was wondering if they showed fine on your screen or if they were broken for you too?

@wolfweed – what all these fan-art imaginations of the 12th Doctor’s cosutme are doing, is making me go crazy. I’m sure I’ll be content with whatever is ultimately decided upon, but with all the mooted options leading up to his debut, I’m afraid I’ll be watching the programme once finally broadcast and shrieking inside ‘but I saw something SO MUCH BETTER on t’interwebs!!’ **

NEED HELP FROM THE WHOVIAN COMMUNITY!

Im building a birthday present for my girlfriend.  It is a shot glass display case for her massive collection.  Im going to construct a TARDIS  that opens up to show off the shot glasses.  Im building it so that when it is sitting on the table it looks like a small tardis but when it is opened the doors and walls spread out  and in the open state its has a huge wingspan thats three times as wide as it is tall.  I want to make the backing of the displace case to look like the TARDIS console room but im no where near good enough to free hand it.  I need a high res image of the console room (preferably the newest version)  one whose dimensions are super wide compared to the height.  Kind of like face book cover photo dimensions.

But, fair do’s to you for owning up to Photoshop …

I have enough problems doing anything artfully with msPaint that Photoshop remains a creative tool beyond my ability.  🙁

But, do you need a relational database defragged?  🙂  I’m your gal.

Fantastic drawing @jimthefish and you certainly have mastered the graphics tablet. I would love to master shading like that with mine.

@Shazzbot, I must protest. Photoshop is a form of art and the graphics tablets are a tool like a pen or pencil just a hell of a lot more difficult to use. However I suspect I might be in need of a “database defragger”. 🙂

Today I sent my youngest off to school with his scarf, hat, and a bag of English jelly babies. (Australian ones are different. I had to go to a lolly shop which sells imported stuff to get them.) It was the book week fancy dress parade so just to prove that Dr Who is a book character he had one of my old Target novelisations in his pocket. Through lucky happenstance his best mate went dressed as a cyberman. A few years ago his parents who are artists made a fabulous Dalek costume for him. I will try and find some pics of it.

@wolfweed and @janetteb — many thanks for the kind words. But it’s not false modesty, I really am just a dabbler in art. Although I’m fascinated by it — my one big regret is that I never grew up to be Dave Gibbons or Carlos Ezquerra. But really Mrs Fish is the real artist in the family.

Technical details: I created a ‘pencil’ in photoshop using the brush tool with Shape Dynamics on — size jitter and opacity jitter set to ‘pen pressure’ and with a charcoal texture in the ‘texture’ setting set to ‘color burn’ mode.

@janetteb, the knack is find is to do your sketching at a pretty low opacity and to have the ‘flow’ set in the mid-ranges too. That way not too much ‘ink’ is put on the canvas at once and you can slowly build up the image (and correct mistakes) in much the same way as you would with pencil and paper. (This is all the reason my digital inking sucks so much — the necessity of bold lines means loss of control and it all runs away from me really quickly….

But defragging databases? I wouldn’t even know where to begin…

When I was young I always used to wonder why the Target cover artists and the artists in th 60’s annuals couldn’t manage to get a decent likeness of Troughton. Now I understand why. He’s much harder than he looks…

@wolfweed — the idea is to try and do them all and incorporate them in one piece. But, yeah, do I include the Hurt Doc? And should I wait until the after the anniversary special to see if that throws in a curveball?
