    @BarbaraLefty. Lovely pic. Thank you for sharing that. I am glad that Wee Lefty had such a lovely time. What a pity that we have to be so cautious about posting pics these days. It is hard to imagine what harm there can be in sharing images of children having fun. A sad reflection or our Tabloid-ised society.

    I was able to take our boys to the…[Read more]

    Attention all DW fans in the Edinburgh area on Thurs 27 Aug.

    The Filmhouse is screening the first episode of Series 9 nearly 3 weeks ahead of TV broadcast!!! (Or am I wrong in thinking DW-Day is 19 Sep..?)

    Set your alarm clocks for 10am, 21 July to get your tickets. (It’s not a big cinema so repeat dial could be…[Read more]

    Just spent far too much time in the pub for the middle of the week, but such a joy to catch up with everyone’s recent contributions. Thank you all so much; I’ve missed being in here recently, some great conversations and memories shared.  So many places and ages and experiences and yet we come together happily in this little corner of the…[Read more]

    @DroneX1  I am fully in agreement with @purofilion, @BarbaraLefty and @ichabod  here;  I do not see how ‘I am not your boyfriend’ can be interpreted as being necessarily dismissive of Clara as a person.  My experience, for what little it is worth, was rather the opposite; it was the people who saw me in a romantic light and wanted to be my boyfr…[Read more]

    @barbaralefty Thank-you! The avatar is a Shetland troll (I’ve family up there).  A much better class of person than the internet troll.

    Oh and at the end of the episode he has the old hair again. Thats a production designing fail.

    @ichabod @purofilion @barbaralefty

    Watching Flatline right now. Saw something very, very weird. Peter Capaldi got a haircut in the middle of shooting the episode. Until 30:28 he has the normal hair and after that he has a new haircut!!!!

    Not as clever as the first two, but:

    Three dimensional child, musing on his/her existence, thinks, “I am the centre of the universe!”

    @BarbaraLefty – Nice one. 🙂 I’ll bite.

    Two dimensional woman, musing on her existence thinks, “I’m going round in circles, here.”

    @BarbaraLefty

    Thank you for your kind thoughts. I’ll raise a glass to you. Well, a mug. Well, of tea.

    We are, indeed, very lucky in the contributors here and much thanks to @Craig for his hosting of this lovely corner of the Internet. 🙂

    @BarbaraLefty     Thank you for your kind inclusion on a list of amazing people! And thanks to you to, for your lively and thoughtful contributions. There is a synergy on this site that is pretty unusual, in my experience. Many different approaches, interests, and personal styles create magic!

    @BarbaraLefty  *(clinks glasses all round)*  We are all very lucky on this friendly site.  Another toast to Craig and the other mods, for keeping it a good playground for wandering minds . . . Well, mine wanders, anyway.  Some of you guys are really good at the focus thing.

    @BarbaraLefty Thank you I raise a glass in return to you and @all for being such a wonderful community. I love all the discussions happening though I have not had much time to participate of late. Busy with organising the program for the writers festival.

    @BarbaraLefty   Thirded! That is a fabulous description. And thanks for the link, I have just discovered yet another way to spend time I don’t have! It’s so rare to find people writing about DW who can actually write (which, of course, is why we enjoy this forum so much).

    Regarding the “it’s not science” brigade, I confess that I can sympathize w…[Read more]

    @janetteB — Forgot about the spoon!  Looked like ice cream to me (and CapDoc does seem to have a sweet tooth, with all that sugar in his coffee as President).  More likely a call back to custard, just no fish that day.

    @Barbaralefty BG Who was often notable for character driven stories, this particular one probably more than most.  As you say it comes partly from having multiple episodes in which to tell the story and set up side characters. The down (and up) side of the format is that because it was shown over several weeks, with no oportunity to replay the…[Read more]
