Both love or a sense of duty require emotion…which Danny supposedly no long had…

Perhaps you missed the ending where Danny blew himself up with the other cybermen, this time dying for real and permanently. That spherical e machine that captured his mind the first time, was not in play at the end (because he was separated from the cybermind)

And if he was in the nethersphere, why not take the doctor and go back and rescue him, this time without interference from the Master or the Cybermen.

A disappointing episode:

Another shipper fiesta with the cybermen in the background.

They didn’t seem threatening. Just spent a lot of time standing around.

After Clara shut Danny’s emotions off, he still had emotions and motivation to help them? The “love conquers all” theme has been overdone.

Even through Danny wasn’t connected to the cybermind, he knew how to fix the problem…too convenient

The Master’s bracelet can call someone back from the afterlife? Seriously?

 

I hope this means the end of the Clara era and a new companion next season.

I was waiting in line at Chipotle’s tonight and overheard someone say that a person he knew was old because he was born in 1981.

Holy Sh*t…if someone born in 1981 is old, then what does that make me?… a mummy? or maybe a litch?

The Master reminds me of James Bond villians. Instead of shooting him outright, they often devise an elaborate means of killing 007, and then leave the scene, giving him an opportunity to escape. Or they will launch into  a long monolog giving 007 an opportunity to figure something out.

He’s a Time Lord, why not just go back in time and kill Doctor Who’s parents, the butterfly effect be damned?…

I beleive physiologist would regard this statement as evidence of a co-dependent relationship. 🙂

But really, I think it was obvious before that comment that he cares about Clara a lot, and would forgive her human failings.

In any case, I didn’t expect the Master, as I thought he had been killed in a previous episode. Frankly, he’s more entertaining in this current form.

Cyber men..[sigh], they’re not really my favorite villains, and I think they’re re- used more than the Dalek’s. (at least it seems that way)

What confuses me, is that they have people’s bodies, in addition to their minds. I  thought that spherical machine could only capture a person’s thoughts/soul.

I don’t believe Missy is Death, the Ferryman or the Grim Reaper, as the people she greets are random. Not all of the people who die on DW (this season) show up there.
I’m guessing she’s an extra-dimensional being who is able to selectively “capture” souls, or a beings essence (for some yet to be discovered purpose). I’m also guessing that Clara is someone who died, and Missy transferred her essence in a new body to keep track of the Doctor for some reason.

Well, I don’t have time to respond to everyone, but I think you all understand that primates are generally considered “lower life forms”, relative to humans, and that’s where the bashing comes in. But you can view things from a certain perspective to fit your own internal narrative…so we are not going to agree.

Also, that was not the only point I made in the thread. However, that is the only one everyone commented on, so can I assume you all agree on my other points? Or were you just cherry picking the only point you could “win” on?

To me that statement is rather direct and obvious man bashing. Apes are generally considered less intelligent than humans and brutish. Therefore comparing men to apes is an intentional insult pretending to be a good natured jab. Clearly you disagree, so please explain why.

It was just an unintentional typo, hardly a crime.

Now, I realize that most people here are hardcore fans, and saying anything negative about the show is considered an act of war, but I am not going to apologetically disagree, walk on eggshells or sugar coat my opinion.

Hi,

I’ve been a fan of Doctor Who since the Tom Baker are, and enjoyed all of the modern episodes from 2005 to last season. But this season has just been uninspiring.

The Clara character just rubs me the wrong way. She seems one dimensional. Too perfect, always right, no apparent meaningful flaws, and she really seems to have no regard for the Doctor beyond getting a free ride through time. Danny is similar. Raised in a orphanage, and spent time in the military…and yet he has no skeletons in his closet. ..not even a small one. He seems perfectly wise and patient. Danny is just a completely unbelievable character.

The Doctor’s character has been marginalized into a grumpy doofus. There are numerous situation comedies on TV where you have a male and a female lead character. The female is always shown as being smart, compassionate and the moral compass of the family who is always right. The male lead is portrayed as a good natured but directionless idiot who needs the female lead to guide him in the right direction.

Do we really need that same boring characterization and comedy plot stereotype with Doctor Who?

And then there is the subtle man-bashing. Remember the first episode of the season? “All men are apes”.

Another thing that bothers me is the show seems to primarily focus and the relationship of Clara and Danny with the plot and the Doctor taking a back seat. Remember the X-files and Fringe. Both ultimately became “Shipper”shows with the main purpose or plot of the show de-emphasized to the point of no longer being interesting.

I liked the mummy episode and the inside the Dalek episode. The rest, IMO, were forgettable.

The eight words that no producer wants to here are: “I don’t care what happens to the characters”.

I’m rapidly approaching that point.
