I need to rant after reading the recent Doctor Who rumor. Emma Watson?

Always bear in mind the distinction between “rumour” and “something some fantasist pluck from his bottom”.

Setting aside that Watson is probably beyond the Who budget, her ambitions currently lie a way beyond UK Telly(1). Emily Watson on the other hand…

    Just don’t s…[Read more]

True! But it does give you something to look forward to – innit.

    Cheers (in sympathy)

@kharis. I couldn’t agree more. What a treat to have Peter Capaldi for another four years – oh the joy of it!

Thing is, he did say that he’d stay as long as DW had the current writers.

All we can hope, is that as he loves being the Doctor so much, he might change his mind.

    Cheers in hope,

    Miss

@Kharis        You make an interesting point. I myself am a bit less than enthusiastic about a female Doctor, but I accept that it may happen sooner than later, and I’m certainly not going to freak out or abandon the show (unless I just don’t enjoy the person chosen, I suppose, but that could equally apply to a male choice). But what I like about…[Read more]

@Kharis The media will go mad speculating about the new Doctor even though there has been no indication to date that Capaldi will not stay on for at least one series under Chibbers so “don’t panic”. Though she is no doubt far to high profile I think Emma Watson would be a fantastic choice for companion, even as a one off in that episode that Peter…[Read more]

    @puroandson Point taken.

@kharis Never had the tissue box been needed more. Superb acting.

@kharis  Her mom taught her that you don’t leave, you always go back for the people you care for. So, maybe?

Hey, it’s Doctor Who; of course, “maybe”.

@kharis  (of Clara)  It must be a horrible temptation to stay in his life and watch over him like a guardian angel.

I hadn’t thought of their parting from this angle; maybe because she, I think, had already made the decisive cut when she said goodbye in Raven.  For me, what she’s wanted most in S9 isn’t to be with the Doctor, but to be her own Do…[Read more]

It is unlikely either Neil Gaiman or Richard Curtis would have time to do the job!

I suspect Toby Whithouse was only other viable “in-house” alternative.

@kharis I think the E-Space trilogy is great as well really enjoyed the last story Warriors’Gate and yes it’s great that everyone likes different episodes it makes conversations like this interesting.

I personally am biased towards Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker as I think there my favourite doctors!

Doctor who is so special in that it can be…[Read more]

Hello everyone thanks for all your feedback

@kharis interesting choices as quite a lot of people don’t like the Christmas specials but that’s the beauty of Doctor Who everyone likes different episodes.

@missy I’m really looking forward to that long list (who doesn’t like reading lists)

Any other suggestions for Romana? It would be wonderful to have her back.

In terms of actors, is Lalla Ward herself not a possibility? Bring her back as an older and wiser Time Lady. I don’t think it’s been established in canon that’s she regenerated post her appearances in the TV series, and even if she had, she might have chosen to…[Read more]

Sorry I have had a chance to revisit Romana.  Got tied up with DW News and talking about lawyers and life in general.

    Kharis changed their profile picture

LOVED the blonde Romana.  Hot in a very cool kind of way – The Doctor’s Mrs. Peel (without the cat suit *Darn*).

I keep hoping that they’ll figure out a way to bring her back.  Not Lalla Ward, obviously, but I would like to see the character make a comeback considering that she played such a big pa…[Read more]

Rupert Murdoch, sociopath and media megalomaniac.

  • @Kharis

    Ta.

What Jim said. Nothing has happened that is inconsistent with what Moffat and Capaldi have been saying for a few months now. (The Beeb is under the cosh from ideologically motived Slaves of Murdoch, but that is no reason to put 2 and 2 together and make an imaginary number).
