@Lisa – But the dead could only rise from their graves as cybermen once their (or someone else’s) consciousness had been downloaded from the Nethersphere. And all the dead ever, up to the point of the episode were uploaded to the Nethersphere (so they could then be downloaded as cybermen). So if they died as cybermen – would they then by…[Read more]

@Apopheniac I’m with you re Danny. I think he was a damaged PTSD ex soldier who just wanted a quiet life! I’ve got my fingers x’d that we’ll get Sam Anderson back as Orson 🙂
Well in the eternal triangle of Bucks, Oxon and Northamptonshire  where the winds blow, the rain cascsdes and the earth slowly liquifies into a soul sapping…

However, something interesting is if you interpret the Galifrey coordinates from Missy as a date then it was the date that the US Congress voted to give GW war powers to invade Iraq
Oh – that’s a splendid spot. Applause.
I love this forum, you learn something new all the time.

@stormintheheartofthesun – Have I gone too far?
no, indeed! i would love for river to be able to return for the odd guest spot, here and there. i don’t know about clara being her child with the doctor, but anything’s possible! since this series was originally intended to be smith’s last, there is evidence (in ‘the name of the doctor’) that such a…[Read more]

@lisa Cheers- it was actually a lovely day for walking around the City today – it was warm enough to do in shirtsleeves and no need for a coat! Thankfully, I don’t live in London, I just work there – living there would drive me even more nuts that I already am.
Hmm – is the photo in my post above not showing?

Well – I went down to St Paul’s this morning:
And there is definitely no red telephone box there!
I would say we have proof that the telephone box was Missy’s TARDIS! (unless there was a perception filter on an ordinary phone box to render it invisible, for some reason)

We’ve already seen how the boy could be returned from the dead with a new body. I think Moffat’s gone a metaphorical rather than a literal route this series, and the metaphorical explanation is given in Time Heist. The teleport brings Psi and Saibra ‘back from the dead’.
Now, think about an SF teleport. It stores information…[Read more]

@lisa Agreed, it is tricky to discern whether there is a figure in the reflection. One observation, though – the phone box in the reflection is the same model as the one it is reflected in (both appear to be the K2 design – if only there was a K9!).
Still, given the Master’s TARDIS has always had a functioning chameleon circuit, then minor…[Read more]

@lisa I think I shall pop down to St Pauls this afternoon, and take some photographic evidence, just to make sure!

@lisa I was wondering if it might be a tip of the hat to Inspector Spacetime:

@lisa Also, I think she has the red telephone box as a tardis now
This seems very likely, because:
1) Missy appears outside the one on Peter’s Hill (just down from St. Pauls) before the Doctor has had time to run down from the door of the cathedral
2) In real life, there *isn’t* a red telephone box there!
Just to note – the telephone boxes…[Read more]

@lisa Santa travels the world in a night on a sleigh that can hold enough toys for every child. He must be a timelord. Long have I said so.
@norcaltradis. That is pretty much what I said. Orson is Danny without the baggage. I agree with you that the raport between Clara and Orson is not that of a great grandmother and descendant. I don’t think…[Read more]

I have read some of the comments elsewhere about this season and I am astounded how many have disliked it- some intensely
If you look at the Guardian blog, it is not much more than a dozen individuals who swarm it after each episode and very atypical. The thing with relentless negativity is that positivity just wanders off and finds…[Read more]

you might be referring to those wacky red states ? 🙂
Indeed. One of which is currently my home. However, I too rely more on the crossing of fingers than the folding of hands.
Also, I like your catch regarding the ‘smell’ of Osgood but if she did smell like Zygon wouldn’t the Doctor have smelled that too ?
Hmmm…. Good point. Howev…[Read more]

we all know what beliefs Xmas is about
Moffat knows what Christmas is about – he also knows what Easter is about, and he knows the difference between them.
For example, he had Series 6 plot of the Doctor being ‘killed’ and coming back from the dead set around Easter 2011. He had the just finished Series 8 theme of soldiers doing their…[Read more]

@Lisa Osgood didn’t have a twin she had a duplicate Zygon thus Bonkers Theory 15b part 6 sub section iii is that the Zygon got Missy’d
Bonkers Theory 15b part 6 sub section xxiv is Osgood’s nice words got her zapped to the nethersphere for Missy to use in the Christmas special or subsequent plot

Great episode, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I also noticed the fantasy theme continuing with Missy as Mary Poppins and Santa will be here for Xmas. I thought it was interesting that Santa tells the Doctor that he (the Doctor) can’t let it end like that (or words to that effect). I wonder what the Doctor will want for Xmas.

Such a lot to unpack in this episode that I scarcely feel up to commenting, even after a second viewing this morning. I was slightly worried that it might end up a bit OTT, in the manner of an R T D finale, but no, in my judgement it wasn’t. The balance between the personal – individuals forced by moral dilemmas to examine themselves and inter…[Read more]

THE END IS NEAR….
(Sob) I shall whip my slaves until they agree to play those minature violins I purchased for them. We have a number of weeks between now and Christmas, and Doctor 12 re-appears.Yes – it seems so short, and if parting is such sweet sorrow
BUT IT HAS BEEN PREPARED FOR.
