    @nerys not my theory, I think it’s @Frobisher‘s though I’m not certain

    I like the notion that we are being shown the series in the order that it occurred for Clara but not the order that it occurred for the Doctor. That would make a rather interesting arc, and a reminder of the timey-wimeyness of the Doctor’s life that we haven’t seen since the 50th.

    @nerys     Regarding a companionless Doctor: For myself, I think i…[Read more]

    Crohn’s can be a very nasty disease indeed. If you’re fortunate, it’s long periods of nearly normal life with periods (flare-ups) of being very ill. If you’re unfortunate – as Melissa and my brother both are – you vanish into a nightmare of complications, hospital stays, and sometimes intensive care. My brother emerged ‘only’…[Read more]

    I really see Capaldi as meant to be more unpredictable and to keep us in question if he is a good man.  He is not meant to be charismatic, but layered, tired and hard to reach.

    That’s the problem with the Doctor! After all these years in this world (I lost count how old is he) you can expect that he knows who he is. I definitely knew w…[Read more]

    I did think it might be possible that, in Face the Raven, the Doctor we are with is pre-Girl Who Died, but the Clara is post-Girl Who Died. But there is a reference to a room in the TARDIS that the Doctor has dedicated to tracking Me’s movements. So the Doctor must also have met Me already. Although… gah, my head hurts! :¬s

    @nerys I have a pretty complex theory over on the spoilers thread (post #47670, about midway down the newest page, can’t miss it It’s a rather long post, though I wouldn’t suggest scrolling far below it) which can fit in to @fatmaninabox‘s theory, though I may have to do a bit of rejiggling of Capdoc’s arc first. Should be fine as a basic…[Read more]

    @nerys @drben – re. the quantum shade; I, like yourselves, interpreted that it could only be passed on once, to a willing party. Once done, the ability of the shade giver (in this case Ashildr) to revoke the curse was null and void. Clara’s fate was set.

    @kharis – I don’t think they’re after the TARDIS itself (after all, it’s an obsolete model with a busted chameleon circuit); rather, they wanted to make sure that it would be the Doctor who wielded the key and put his arm into the machine, thereby getting the teleporter thingy.

    @nerys – Yup!

    @lisa  I don’t think she died because she had some suicidal death wish. It was to my mind cause she just realized all along that she’d get caught eventually running with the Doctor

    Maybe it’s not gone so far as becoming a death *wish*, but remember that phone call in Under the Lake — “Die on the one after me!  You do not leave me!” roughly…[Read more]

    I have been thinking about this, and as I said in my otherwise scatterbrained post above, it really may have something to do with the fact that he has been written as the first incarnation of a new cycle of regenerations. And as such, he is, well, more… Timelord. Colder, with an air of superiority. Danny saw this in him. Officer…[Read more]

    at the risk of pointing out the obvious, the change of clothes is probably just because they had nearly been eaten. the tattered and battered outfits from the last adventure simply wouldn’t do for the upcoming adventure…

    in other words, when you’re travelling in a time machine, there’s always time to look your best!

    Totally agree with @Juniperfish and @Nerys. Ashildr has arrogance-squared (that of teenagers who think they have all the answers AND of the immortal). That is a fascinating character with an inbuilt balloon for a Doctor to prick, or let down gently.

    I made the error of going over the kasterbouros.com, where the three or four posters they have…[Read more]
