Allowing for by biased views on a female Doctor, I Read the article, and every point she made applies to each of the previous Doctors?

More likely she preferred a female Doctor, and that’s all right, but all the attributes mentioned can also be said of the first four males(2005)

Thank you  for that, but I meant this last series. I knew about the above, as I always looked to see who wrote an episode and who directed.

Rachel Talahay is an excellent director, and I wondered whether CC had written anything for her to direct.

Whilst here, can anyone tell me why Steven Moffat should feel the need to apologise for his…[Read more]

I suppose this discussion really should be over on the Films thread, but I also suppose spoilers are less of an issue when it comes to Blade Runner, as it seems unlikely than there is anyone with internet access who is not aware of the film.

For me, it will always be the original theatrical version with the voice-over. I…[Read more]

I think we know exactly who we’re with, right?

Craig’s correct. Let’s not bother with the nasties who do an occasional fly-by. Talk of a character being a coward etc isn’t nice. If I were in charge of the sandpit, I’d be turning away. I think that’s a good plan. Otherwise he might need to delete whole…[Read more]

Tim Shaw found a new level of ineffectiveness, protected by feeble “sniper” bots and personally able to be bested by one untrained old guy with a gun. His only significant power was by proxy, through his influence on the Ux.

Absolutely! He was “pretty crap” as a villain. Graham and “the gang” had been to a variety of places nipping hom…[Read more]

This episode for me is the gift that keeps giving, it’s so rich with allusions.

Thanks @nerys for your post. 🙂

@cathannabel I absolutely love Gide, The Vatican Cellars and The Counterfeiters being among my all-time favourite books. Haven’t read Theseus though, so that’s really fascinating thank you.

I totally see your point and agree, @mudlark,…[Read more]

@nerys – I think it might the the third time I’ve posted it on this site. I tend to have it primed and ready to go wherever I go to discuss this season. Feels a little sad that it’s needed.

We do indeed. Because we’re not on a ladder or staircase of progress, it’s more like an Escher picture. Or an escalator where the steps keep turning into a…[Read more]

@amdamiri I am with @nerys. Also, kinda looks like you’re complaining. Have you seen Rectify? I mean, you can complain ! 🙂 That’s alright! Maybe there was something you liked in the episode too?

@nerys sorry, my mistake about Stevens:)
I never meant to say it have to be original and I understand what you mean but In my humble opinion, that’s not truly a structure , that is only a tiny pushing to make a connection between an not original story and the doctor character.you know why? Because we had nothing but the grandma story in almost…[Read more]

@rob me too! Last week and lost the whole hog. Luckily, a mate had brought me a new (very small, mind) coffee plunger with a sweet bean. I had just come home and fancied a good brew. So, rob it calmed me down. We have merlo coffee here? And if you purchase a large tin of it (as I did about 3 months ago) they give you a free coffee AND a $5 voucher…[Read more]

The Doctor could apparently easily keep them in contact by jazzing up their phones, but for some reason has chosen not to.

That’s because mobile phones are a plot killer. From the days of Star Trek onwards, when practically the first thing every writer would do was have Kirk’s communicator damaged or stolen. Killer of Plots – you…[Read more]

For some reason, this episode pushed a number of wrong buttons for me, so I struggled with this one.

I was annoyed that the crew were intending to attend the coronation of Elizabeth I, and turned up in whatever they were wearing. They’re scarcely dressed for the period. Showing up a century late. in odd clothing at a witch trial would also be…[Read more]
