@nerys @winston I can recall Donna’s appeal which hit me more in the episodes with Doctor 14. I saw a Short on YouTube in which she bemoans giving away her money with her husband, Rose & the Doctor highlighting her compassion & empathy.
I also remember how she heard & felt, temporarily, the Ood’s song of captivity which the Doctor heard at all…[Read more]

@nerys I have the same problem. I lost track of the thread entirely and when I came across it one day found a year’s worth of posts I had missed. I now keep the page open in a separate tab.
Cheers

@nerys I think Donna is feisty , mouthy ,loud and angry and I love her. She reminds me of one of my sisters, my aunt and my mom , slightly scary and liable to run all over me but there is nobody better to have in your corner when the going gets tough. The Doctor Donna will fight for what is right and for the underdog. I think she is a great c…[Read more]

@nerys As I’ve said, shouty Donna is her least attractive part, and that’s exactly what we got on her first appearance. First impression and all that, it took me a while (about two seasons) to get over my Donnaphobia. I thought the metacrisis ‘solution’ was clunky but by then I was sufficiently reconciled to Donna that I let it go.

I think a comic-con panel had Billie Piper. A fan asked the question …..the only question that can ever be asked! “Are you the doctor?” And Piper said “I’m not the Doctor I’m Rose Tyler on hiatus.”

@nerys yes the Lux clue or name is interesting because when I think of RTD he uses a number of unusual perceived futuristic names.
I’m thinking of Martha, & the Doctor meeting Jack at the end of the world where the refugees, essentially at the end of time, are about to travel to Utopia with professor Yana & the names of the various lads & l…[Read more]

@winston @nerys Oh yes! I also feel that way in the garden. I noticed that a gent who helps me weed, mow & mulch, often places more mulch on top of other mulch rather than turning the ground? I remember @mudlark teaching me many wonderful things about soil & its turning (among other stuff like archaeology, medieval churches & ancient history).

@nerys @dentarthurdent Maybe that menacing feeling I had is shared by others and they are gifted enough to write about it. I love my garden and thankfully the feeling was fleeting and hasn’t happened since , although , I sometimes think they are plotting behind my back. For now though there are veggies to eat, fruit to jam, peppers to pi…[Read more]

@nerys @thane16 With everything costing so much more it is great to have a good library in your area because everything there is freeeee!! Sometimes I have to wait but I am OK with that.

Whitaker’s Tardis was “off” so her opinion on Gatwa’s is …..but I think it was more a nod to Moffat’s lines: “I don’t like it.”
This goes back quite a way. In The Three Doctors, Troughton’s Doc is in the Tardis with Pertwee’s Doc and he looks around before saying something like “You’ve redecorate…[Read more]

@Winston @nerys that’s brilliant. We’ll be very thrilled to watch it again beside you. Subscriptions are insanely expensive. A friend of mine, at the last weekend, said she’s planned out what subs to have within a 6 month period, & which to drop & like us, holds videos at the Brisbane City Council library just up the road. Considering Dr Who on Di…[Read more]

@nerys Wow! You have been on an epic journey with the Doctor right to the end. What an ending, Rose is the Doctor? What? What, what what? I would watch that.
It has been awhile since I watched this one but I remember being thrilled to see Anita again and saving the Doctor also. The rest of it is a blur of monsters and Unit and …other stuff.

@ps1l0v3y0u I’d forgotten the exact dialogue. That discussion of ‘variables not being equally weighted’ sounds like mumbo-jumbo to me, I’m pretty sure that with a multi-digit code like that, the ‘variables’ are exactly equally weighted, any number is exactly as probable as 9,999 others. The Tardis (which is presumably also a super…[Read more]

This isn’t really an explanation but…
DOCTOR: ….four digits. That narrows it down to a possible 10,000 numbers. Feeling lucky?
JOY: Really not.
DOCTOR: I mean, the variables are never equally weighted. I could figure it out if I just had…
JOY: What?
DOCTOR: Time. The Time Hotel.
JOY: The what?
DOCTOR: I couldn’t use t…[Read more] -

@nerys I didn’t put any effort into making my ‘theory’ of the briefcase code work, it’s just a conclusion I came to. I can’t say I like it very much. But, to mangle Sherlock Holmes, ‘when you have eliminated every other possibility, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth’.
I don’t like it very much. This is definit…[Read more]

@nerys I guess Nova Scotia was a bit like New Zealand in respect of Covid, being relatively easy to isolate. Omicron was, I think, way more infectious than previous variants, but probably less deadly. Also, I think, by then people were starting to get a bit more blase about precautions. Part of the rationale for the precautions was not…[Read more]

@nerys I agree about Anita, I really liked her. I would have liked to see her as a Companion. The Time Hotel is, of course, a species of time machine. I’m sure it generates all sorts of time paradoxes.
The just-married couple in Anita’s Sandringham Hotel honeymoon suite took the Doctor’s incursion remarkably calmly, I thought. Just a reminder t…[Read more]

the most concerning was Dacron’ ableist issue; the sonic better as a telly remote than a gun & TenDoc regenerating back into his 2006+ clothing as keeping 13’s outfit would be an insult to drag performers
