• Hi @nick

    …It would almost be like reverse character development to go from Hurt to Hartnell…

    I don’t disagree with you on this – I was intending to make the point that I’ve been enjoying reading the Doctor Zero theories because I’m not keen on the 8.5 idea, but that is where the thrust of discussion has been.  My knowledge of the First…[Read more]

    @thommck @Nick @janetteB

    Got some more information today. No exact time yet, but I will be able to see it in 3D for hefty 16 Euros. We will start a bit later because they show a trailer rail before the actual movie =.=” .

    I also found out that the trailer we saw is supposed to be actual film material. I saw pictures of it with the title “first…[Read more]

  • I have just visited my Uncle and he sends regards to all.
    Uncle says that he is with @wolfweed, @bluesqueakpip and @nick and that he thinks the face of Hurt has been manipulated for the policeman. To appear younger.
    He agrees with Miss Bluesqueakpip that the “policeman” exchange with Amy in Eleventh Hour may be a clue hidden in plain sight. If the…[Read more]

    As @Bluesqueakpip so eloquently put it –

    what happens in Gallifrey stays behind the Time Lock

    Sorry Nick, even

    “unless Steven Moffat thinks otherwise”

    doesn’t count. It’s what us non-spoiler fans say! And that’s to please keep ALL spoiler (and pseudo-spoiler and maybe-spoiler) discussion on the spoilers thread, including…[Read more]

  • @Nick I was just pointing out that we decided to leave everything that is said in the spoilers thread in the spoilers thread (what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas) . Unless you know it has been posted elsewhere. There are a bunch of people who want to be as unspoiled as possible. I merely respect their wishes in reminding you of the rule.…[Read more]

  • @Nick – your faith in the accuracy of newspaper quotes is quite touching. 😉

    Okay: the rule of thumb. Anything published on the official BBC Doctor Who site, in DWM, or published/broadcast on BBC news is not a spoiler – because anything published there is a carefully considered release of information; the assumption is that the Production Team…[Read more]

  • @Nick – anything about Spoilers may only be discussed in the Spoilers thread. That includes mentioning the topic that you are (not) discussing in the Spoilers thread.

    It’s okay to start off saying ‘I’d like to look more closely at XXXX’, because that doesn’t tell the non-Spoiler crowd that you want to look more closely at XXXX because you know…[Read more]

  • @Nick everything from the Spoilers thread is to be discussed there. As long as it is no official information from the BBC there are people here that wish to be left oblivious

  • @Nick @blenkinsopthebrave

    EVERYONE looks slightly waxy/unreal in the trailer.  As if they are museum pieces (and remember the trailer for NotD which had Matt and Clara going through what looked like an old attic/museum with lots of Doctor artefacts). That has to be a deliberate choice (and not just about conversion of 3D/2D images, although it…[Read more]

    Is it the power of suggestion?

    Er… probably!

    😀

    But what about those first few seconds though? (Unearthly Child and the trailer). At least I’m happy I know where the pram comes from now.

    @Nick I agree with you, I don’t think it’s from the original footage – check out the chinstrap

    PS @Shazzbot – I admire your patience :-).…[Read more]

  • @HTPBDET (mini)

    No no no! I don’t think the policeman’s Hartnell (although it’s a thought) – I was suggesting the CGI process used to upgrade Hartnell’s image was the same as that used on the policeman.  BUT – sorry, changed my mind – I don’t think it’s the original policeman – at least not from the original footage – the ’63 one wears his chin…[Read more]

    @Nick

    It’s still a joy to have this feeling of excitement if I’d known it was going to be so Christmasesque I’d have eaten myself into a chocolate stupor in support of the rather giddy presents about to be proffered (even though we have to pay for them ourselves, thanks Auntie Beeb)

    Oooooooo, an hour and a hauf!

  • CptNifty replied to the topic Doctor Who News (2)

    @Nick

    I must put in here that by ‘restoration’ I include the extras and the suchlike.

    It’s exciting isn’t it?

  • CptNifty replied to the topic Doctor Who News (2)

    @nick

    My thoughts, incessantly based on pure, luxurious speculation is that the downloads will be hugely beneficial in funding for the restoration of the eventual DVD release and also this way you can make a media event of the finding of missing episodes and sate people’s desire to have it there and then.

    Makes sense.

  • wolfweed replied to the topic Doctor Who News (2)

    @Nick – It never actually existed in our Universe, but if it had we would have witnessed it in 1993…

  • wolfweed replied to the topic Doctor Who News (2)

    @Nick – That is the story that my link would have referred to.

    I’m more convinced that ever that’s it hard to generalize in Who. While the general view is often correct, I think you can usually count on the show to have produced at least 1 exception to undercut […]
