I rather enjoyed that episode (but then again I’ve enjoyed every one this series bar ‘The girl who died’)

    A few points:

@ozitenor If this episode were a two parter then it wouldn’t of had the same effect that it did.

A few people said that the Doctor left without knowing what was happening. The video could have been cut and edited to meet Mr…[Read more]

Finally got to watch and enjoyed far more than I expected after reading all the comments this afternoon. Certainly not one of the best but that does not make it bad and  I suspect it will improve on re watch but might not be an episode that invites repeated re watches.

@Phaseshift, That uniform did indeed seem like a nod to B.5 There have been…[Read more]

This series just gets better and better. I felt last week that we had pieces of a puzzle that did not fit together. However the shape of the picture was there but without the conclusion it lacked meaning and what a conclusion it was. I have yet to rewatch, preferring to leave a day or so between viewings.

Everything I could say has been said and…[Read more]

i just finished a re-watch, having digested the posts here. not much to add, except one bonkers theory, that hit me between the eyes while watching the scene wh…[Read more]

I think your right about there not being any prime Clara. That would be why she
survived the time stream? I remember the 11th looking at the time string theory
book and that it had to be about the Claradox. But I still think she is morphing into
something new which is going to be like a bad nightmare. The Doctors creation
    has…[Read more]

Jenna  as Bonnie/Clara  acted both parts perfectly. It was eery to see Clara trapped in the pod but creating a safe place in her mind just like when she was trapped in the Dalek and making souffles. Clara is one heck of a strong willed person.

This was the only time I felt that Clara really acted like Clara. In the rest of the epi…[Read more]

@winston  After a while you think that the pain is not worth it and you decide “no more pets” I think this is how the Doctor and Me and all immortals must feel once in awhile. Shoud they take the risk and enjoy their companions lives ,however fleeting ,or give up and go it alone.

Yes, it’s a feeling very familiar to pet owners.  Most of us give…[Read more]

Reading all the wonderful discussion here is every bit as good as watching the actual episode and certainly makes rewatching so much more rewarding.

    I made notes, rather a lot of notes so here goes;

@lisa I agree re’ Ashildr and Arya from GoT being very similar, something that irritated me a little as the time though I also agree with @Ichabod[Read more]

@CountScarlioni @ozitenor A link to an episode including Medusa? Multiple snakes already this series? On running theme of people dying but not dying? A pill to make people immortal/ A lengthy explanation of bootstrap paradoxes? The continuous references to tarot, coupled with what a snake card means? Anyone else thinking what I’m thinking???

  • lisa replied to the topic The Girl Who Died

@ozitenor 3 helmets dropped down? Good grief Charlie Brown! You really do have to watch
this a frame at a time! I think that last thing he said in the Tardis about the hybrid
started out about Ashildr and ended up as a possible revelation about Clara. I’m not sure
they are the same but there could be some connection.

    Thanks for the sonic…[Read more]

@jphamlore  In last season’s Time Heist we have seen there is a thriving market in all sorts of tech. So how exactly would the knowledge of this immortality chip be kept secret?

That was definitely done too hastily, but my impression is that this was tech held by the Mire exclusively, and that as they’re such fearsome warriors, nobody had yet da…[Read more]

No worries 🙂 Great minds and all that…

I loved your thought that we are watching Who episodes because the Doctor (or maybe one of his companions) has uploaded their live recordings of his adventures to the “Galactic Hub”. Maybe that’s why this Doc breaks the fourth wall and talks “to camera”! Very meta indeed.

@ozitenor I love mention of past companions. I was ridiculously happy when the eleventh Doctor mentioned having a gobby Australian on the Tardis  😀

  • lisa replied to the topic Before The Flood

@purofilion the ‘bootstrap’ comes from a sci fi story.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/By_His_Bootstraps

@Ozitenor Yeah Blink and also @jphamlore Genesis of the Daleks too!
But the Doctor didn’t purposefully design those paradoxes as a means
to personal ends in his own story yet.

Hi, @Ozitenor! Welcome. I love that you watch both old and new DW with your son. My son (15) has never been interested in the show, despite (or perhaps because of) a massive interest in physics and technology. He has always been pretty literal-minded. But I have always watched old films with him as well as new, and it’s great when kids can grow up…[Read more]
